The following was written on the train ride home from Venice. It recounts the experience of four North American Girls on their journey to the city of canals, bridges, churches and lost tourists! We arrived in Venice at lunch time after a six and a half hour train ride. Venice welcomed us with grey skies and scattered showers. After eating our first slice of over-priced Venitian pizza, we went on a mission to find our hostel. We walked through narrow street after narrow street, over tiny bridge after tiny bridge and into narrow alleyway after alleyway. It was only after pulling [View Full Entry]

Let's Make Apres-Ski!

 Europe » Austria » Tyrol
It has been two weeks since our return to home sweet Innsbruck. By the end of our journey to eastern europe Jenna and Kathy were eagerly looking forward to seeing the mountains once again. We arrived to a week filled with excruciatingly boring classes in which we hash over the "tourism product" and the importance of "exceeding customer's expectations", over and over again. After 4 eight-hour school days we were ready for some change. On saturday we picked up Kristen Wallace (a fellow guelpher, RA and exchange student to [View Full Entry]

A Happy Hungarian!

Hello everyone! Here is an update on my activities since I last wrote! We have now been in Austria for 2 weeks. Since I last wrote, we began our semester at school and now we are already on Easter Break!! This is a break down of my week: Last saturday we went skiing in the alps (Axamer Litzum) for the first time. It was incredible!! In a moment of infinite wisdom, Jenna and I decided to climb up to the top of a ridge, following an american friend's encouraging words: "don't worry about it! its only a little bit steep." A [View Full Entry]

Our little plane that could!
Hello everyone!! We have been in Austria not quite a week and we have already seen so much and learned so much! We have learned: -Innsbruck got its name because of the bridge (bruck) that crosses the Inn River. Our residence is right beside this river and we walk along it to get to school. -The old town of innsbruck was built mostly in the 15th century as a rest stop for travellers as the went through the Alps on their way from Germany to Italy. They had to cross the Inn river and used the bridge to so. -After trying [View Full Entry]
