The first thing we noticed about Washington DC were the prices... Accom, transport, food etc all overpriced... So walking it was. And man did we walk. About 5-10 ks a day, at least. But it was a nice way to see all the sights of the city. The White house... Hmmm well I expected it to be, well I dunno... Bigger? Still, it was very beautiful (and heavily guarded of course) Unfortunetly Barak Obama couldn't squeeze us in for a visit so we had to make do with peering through the gates like peeping toms :) Did you know that it has 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms, 412 doors, 147 windows, twenty-eight fireplaces, eight staircases, three elevators, five full-time chefs, a tennis court, a (single-lane) bowling alley, a movie theater, a jogging track, a lap swimming ... read more

Vegas, Wow, what a place. Everything you hear and read about Vegas is probably true. The place is absolutely awesome. I'm so glad Kristy and I made the trip to Nevada. We have experienced so much and the sights, well we will definitely never forget this place. With over 65 large scale resorts and casinos Las Vegas has the ultimate 24 hour fun. Not only is it about the gambling but its alive with shows, shopping, and people just generally having a great time. We have seen the Bellagio Casinos wonderful night time fountain show (free by the way), the Treasure Islands pirate ship show (free), the Circus Circus show of acrobatics (free), the erupting volcano at the Mirage Casino (free) and the Fremont street show (again free). We have had to try and keep a ... read more

San Francisco, well the place is beautiful. The buildings are impeccable and the sights awesome. Tours are very well managed and although on the expensive side they are well worth it. Staff at restaurants and at most retail stores are very pleasant and will go out of their way to help. The transport system is unmatched in serviceability and efficiency. Weather has been very good. Not much fog which is rare for this time of year. Usually there's fog everywhere. The winds near the piers are very strong so it’s handy to take a wind breaker even if the weather is nice. That’s the good stuff. But like Los Angeles the place is let down by the number of homeless and mentally challenged that are left on the streets to fend for themselves. Don't get me ... read more

Los Angeles, the city of angels…. There is definitely plenty to do and see in the city. We stayed in Hollywood, and as glamorous as we pictured it to be, to be honest…. Well it could really do with a facelift of its own. A really ‘out there’ place equipped with some REALLY ‘out there’ kinda people. Mostly backpacking hippies, begging or busking for money on the streets. But the streets/footpaths and buildings are really rundown and a makeover is well overdue. You would assume they would want to spend money on it considering the amount of tourism they get. Of course we did the typical ‘Walk of Fame’, down Hollywood Boulevard to check out the stars with all the ultra-famous celebrity names. Also the ‘cliché and corny’ open bus tour to the celebrity homes along ... read more

Hola Todas, So we have finally made it to Mexico. On the contrary to what people say about this place, in regards to its 'dangerousness', we actually found it to be a beautiful city rich with culture and history. There was definetly nothing boring about this place by any means with alot of music and dancing in the streets. The city is always alive with some crazy adventure :) We were lucky enough to meet up with a mate here, Bobbit. It was great to travel around the city and surrounds with a familiar face. He has already been in Mexico for 4 weeks so when it came down to speaking their language, Spanish, he was definetly our saviour.... I also think it paid off to pay attenton in school as I found my Italian came ... read more

South Korea!! Where do I start?? We have done soooo much travelling around the country. Much more then we have done in any other, and in doing so have learnt so much about ourselves, eachother and more importantly, culture.... We were lucky enough to be able to stay with my good friend Vicky and her family across the country. Not only did it save us a lot of money but it also gave us true insight to the Korean culture, i.e housing, eating, tradition and etiquette. It was a great experience and we were so appreciate of their generosity and hospitality. We truely had a great time meeting them all. Vicky's Ma and Pa are so cute, even learning a few english phrases to greet us with. The weather has not been very kind to us... ... read more

Well I thought it would be time for a blokes perspective on the travelling that Kristy and I have been doing so here I am. Writing or blogging about Vietnam is probably the easiest country to blog about but hey who cares.. Flying into Vietnam we were instantly gob smacked at how different Vietnam is to Thailand and the other asian countries we have visited. Military police are evident everywhere in the airport and getting through the visa requirements is a minor hassle. Vietnam is the only country on all our travels where we needed to apply for a visa before our trip and then line up for twenty minutes while the military sorted it all out. Fun!! Getting out of the airport we were greeted by our driver from the hotel. At $28 AUD a ... read more

We only spent a few days in Bangkok but felt we still got to experience all the city had to offer (good and bad) The shopping centres here are AMAZING!! Much like the ones in KL... Huge, multi story complexes with a little bit of everything... They would truely take my breath away, I have never seen anything quite like it. By far the best experiences of Bangkok were Madaam Tuasaads Wax Museum and the Floating markets. The wax museum was so awesome. With wax figures of all the famous celebs/sporting heroes/World leaders and Royals.... So incredibly lifelike with all the extreme detail that goes into creating the perfect replica of that person... It was a little freaky to feel like you were really face to face. They had models of Beyonce, Barack Obama,The Queen, Pablo ... read more

So here we are in the land of smiles!!! What a beautiful country.... If any of you have ever travelled to Thailand than you can understand why we have chose to come here so many times before. It truely is an amazing place! From the white sandy shores to the endless shopping, it really has something to offer everyone. We have spent alot of time on the beaches. As we hadn't had the opportunity so much in Bali due to the state of theirs. I had really missed the beaches here. We have gone to Similan Island (never been before) and although it is some distance away compared to the other much closer islands, I am glad we did! We were taken too some magnificent snorkling spots with gorgeous crystal clear water, unlike anything you've seen ... read more

So we have come to the end of our trip in Kuala Lumpur. We almost didn't make it as we nearly missed our flight from Bali. Totally underestimated the traffic in Kuta and literally got on the flight with seconds to spare!! Phew!! We have definitely had an interesting time here with a mix of good and bad experiences. The hotel has been great (apart from the fact that housekeeping threw out our dirty laundry) and the culture here has surely been an eye opener. Not sure if Kuala Lumpur has been quite what we imagined. The locals here are predominantly muslims and of Indian descent. You would think we were in India or somewhere in the Middle East. They don’t seem to be as accommodating as the Indonesians or Thai. I guess they don’t really ... read more
