Well, one more week of frustrating waiting for snow. All slopes are still closed; weather at the moment is more like the one of early autumn then middle of the winter. And I’m starting to think about a “plan B”. What to do in case that it doesn’t snow through July… hang on in Bariloche or catch a plane direction some more tropical location (Ecuador, Nicaragua… ) and spend the time that I’ll have between my studies and Asta’s arrival at the beginning of November somewhere warm, while doing some traveling and scuba diving… Ciao, Kristina [View Full Entry]

Three and a half weeks in Bariloche School is OK. Lot’s of grammar, but finally bits of it are starting to make a little bit of sense… However, for last 2.5 weeks I was the only student at my level. So, I’ve had a “privilege” of having private lessons & that’s a hard work… But it is good... During last couple of weeks I’ve as well met few very nice people whom I’m spending quite a bit of time with lately - going out for dinners, catching up for coffees, etc. Unfortunately for us (all who are here to ski/board), seems [View Full Entry]

Me on Cerro Otto
View of Bariloche from Cerro Otto

You can congratulate me - I’ve survived my first week in Bariloche and in the Spanish school… - Last Sunday I’ve finally reached Bariloche (it took me "only" about 3.5 days of traveling… because I’ve left Adelaide on Thursday morning and arrived Sunday late in the night ADL time). Once here, I’ve straight away “checked - in” into my accommodation with the family. It’s a beautiful house about 5 minutes walk from town and overlooking the lake. My host family consists of mother, her son (son is probably about my age, maybe a bit older. And the mother - I don’t [View Full Entry]

Well, next part of my journey has started. I’m on my way from Buenos Aires to Bariloche (where I intend to ski/board and study Spanish… ) Though I’ve left Australia 2 days ago, I still haven’t reached my destination. Currently I’m on a bus from Buenos Aires to Bariloche which is going to take 20 hours instead of 2 on the plane… However the busses are pretty cool, with seats reclining 160 degrees- almost like a bed… hope I’ll manage to catch up on a bit of sleep (I’m still seriously jet lagged. Last night managed to sleep only couple of [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone,. It’s been a veryy long since I’ve updated this blog last. Sorry for that… I’ll try to be better with it in the future! Currently I’m on the plane from Islamabad to Bangkok. From where I’ll continue on to Sydney and Adelaide (will be home between 21st and 29th of May) and trying to somehow put a blog together… Some of the text has been written almost a month ago, but never posted because I wanted to add more things… and then we got so busy with all the challenges which we’ve encountered lately, that I just couldn’t concentrate [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, Hope all of you’re doing well. This time, it’s just a short update and some pictures. I’ve managed to catch a flue and currently am spending my time in bed in Muzaffarabad - feeling miserable and bored out of my mind… I hate being sick! :-) Few days ago I came “back to civilization” after spending 10 days up in the valley. In a small town called Kel, which is in about 2200m above sea level (we’ve got our second office up there because our work is done in surrounding villages). And where time seems to have stopped a [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, it’s been almost 3 weeks since I’ve arrived to Kashmir. And the longer I’m here, the more I like it… The country, the people, the culture, the food, the challenge, the whole experience… My Achievements by now: * Learning to eat with my hand without getting souses to run down all the way to my elbow * Remembering to switch on the Hot water Gazer before I go to sleep (this one was easy, I've learned through the pain of having a cold shower for few morning in a row) * To talk with my hands and body when [View Full Entry]

Me and Nahida

Hi everyone, for those who in connection with the resent events in Pakistan are worried about me - for the time being the area where I'm hasn't been touched by the wave of violence. So, I'm safe and sound... I've had a good working week. And today, though initially we wanted to go for a walk -we had to cancel it. Because the temperature rised to about 25 degrees C. So, walking up and down the hills in long sleeves and wearing a scarf is not the most comfortable way of doing it... :-) see ya, Kristina [View Full Entry]

Muzaffarabad

 Asia » Pakistan
Hi everyone, just a very short update As you see - I finaly reached Pakistan. Currently I'm still in Muzaffarabad (), where the organization has got their main office. I'm glad that I overcame my initial fear about coming to the country. People whom I've encountered over here are very friendly And Muzaffarabad itself is quite a relaxed place... Here are some photos from my "exploration walk" on Saturday Best regards, Kristina P.S. More to come in future blogs. Since now I found a place where I can get wireless connection :-) [View Full Entry]

Thailand

Asia » Thailand » South » Khao Lak
Hi everyone, well, I'm trying to keep my promise in keeping everyone up to date with my journeys. After finishing on the project in Canberra first thing I did was to spend couple of weeks in Thailand. First week I caught up with Vilija and Vaidas at a Spa Resort up in Khao Lak and second week I’ve decided to spend on Phi Phi Island where Fariborze works as an instructor (youppyyyy…. I even managed to fit in 7 dives while on the island :-) ). Currently I'm back in Adelaide where I keep myself busy with packing up my apartment. [View Full Entry]
