So a bit late on the updates, So the adventure in Delhi started in the airport, I had paid an outrageous amount to stay at a place in Old Delhi just so I can have a airport pickup and not have to deal with touts right away as I heard in Delhi there a bit relentless. The only thing is when I got out of the airport and searched for my name, NADA! I was getting a bit worried slash pissed since I didn't have their number/lonely planet or anything for that matter. I had to call home to get my sis to check my email and get the number so I can call them. When I called they said they couldn't arrange one since I told them too late, a bit peeved I waited in ... read more

After some breaky we got showered up and decided to go watch a movie. Finally saw Transformers 2, a really nice movie especially when you have the theatre all to you self for 80b ($2.67). After Transformers we did some window shopping, I found some Ed Hardy shirts that I was thinking of getting but they were a bit expensive at $4. After shopping we headed back to Khao San and grabbed some street food. Some of us headed to Patong Markets which is home to the Ping Pong shows but only to do some shopping. Shopping there wasn’t all that great though, we were continually bombarded by people offering us sex shows, needless to say we declined. We got back to Khao San and since we were doing a tour tomorrow leaving no time for ... read more

The next morning I set out in search of a guesthouse near the beach - Resort after resort there was no luck everything was full for the full moon. After an exhaustive search I gave up and ended up catching a cab to meet Petra at the ferry station. (Introducing Petra) I met Petra 2 years ago during my French immersion course at University of Victoria (BC). It was random how we met each other 2 years ago (killing moths) and again how a facebook status sparked a reunion. She had just finished doing a dive course that I really wanted to do but timing just wasn’t right. She had picked up two friends Yan (German) and Immanuel (Portuguese/Swiss) along the way and found a nice place through a tout. The place was 900 Baht including ... read more

So I arrived into Chiang Mai around 6am well exhausted after the bus drops us off at their guesthouse which isn’t too bad 300 baht for a room with hot shower... the only thing is it didn’t come with any outlets. After a long nap I woke up and wandered around Chiang Mai, the city itself is moated on all 4 sides which is cool! I grabbed a quick vegan meal at this restaurant with free wifi, always a plus then crashed. The next morning I woke up to Chef Chan cooking school (Actually, the Best Thai Cookery School) and for 900 baht we learnt to cook around 11 dishes! The cooking schools are all pretty much same same. It started off with a market tour where we went around looked at different fruits and ... read more

July 12th 2009

So after a short but reflective time in Phnom Penh I headed to Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is the world’s largest religious site. It’s basically a lot of stone temples spread over quite a distance. The temples themselves are amazing and truly a must see. When I got into town I grabbed a bite to eat and went straight to bed, I had to wake up at 5am for sunrise. At minutes to 5 I waited outside for my tuk tuk that I had arranged the night prior to take me to the temples. The only thing is he didn’t show, I was a bit peeved as I was missing precious sun rising time but these things happen when travelling. I caught another tuk tuk that took me there for the ... read more

After my flight I headed into Saigon for one more night, again attempted to finish my marketing project with no avail. The room we stayed at last time was booked so after some lunch I decided to check out this place the waitress was telling me about. I don't know what made me stay but I did, the place was however well dodgy and in need of a total reno. I stood their contemplating what I would do to the place and how I would run a hostel business instead of doing my marketing plan (typical). Woke up in the morning and paid $8 for the room (even though it was suppose to be $10) and ran to the bus. The guesthouse guy came running after me after he realized his mistake, there was however no ... read more

So the next day after a bit of a hangover we went for breaky at our typical place, you cant go wrong with fresh baguettes and eggs for $1.50. After that I decided to try to do the responsible thing and attempt to finish my marketing report. The girls went out the beach and I stayed in an.... watch HBO LOL. I couldn't help it there was some pretty good shows on, I did attempt to start but failed miserably. We met Katie and Scott for dinner at this one place renowned for its brownies, the only thing is they only had 1 and they also had no spring rolls. Decided to get some chili fries instead. It was a splurge I whole $3. The only thing is they brought out chili and rice! and it ... read more

So here goes my third attempt at blogging, started my vakay from a vakay about a week ago and its been unreal. In the beginning it was, as always a bit more nerving but now that were in the full swing of things its absolutely amazing. First couple of days in Bangkok were unreal, BOILING hot and soo much people. I've never seen traffic like I did there. Met some awesome Canadians and traveled with them around Bangkok. One thing about bangkok that I will not miss is constant questions of 'you want tuk tuk, ping pong show, lady boy'. Got my visas for Vietnam, which I was obviously overcharged for since I was farang! (foreign). Shits and giggles that my visa cost more money that my flight but Vietnam was absolutely unreal! At the airport ... read more
