Correction
Nice story but one little correction: The Leaning Lighthouse of Vilinus is in fact the Cathedral Belfry, so no lights from there. http://www.codelt.nl/Blog/lithuania-and-vilnius

An easier flight
There had to be a reason why you guys flew with those two stops (Prague, Bucharest) but there are also flights Manchester-Prague-Chisinau, Manchester-Vienna-Chisinau or if you don't mind to get to London first , there is a direct flight Heathrow-Chisinau with Air Moldova.

Eastern Ukraine
I am an American living in Horlovka, Ukraine, building an orphanage for a humanitarian group from home... I know Kharkov, Dnepeptrovisk, and Odessa very well... and the trains to and from...LOL... MY girl, Eleonora lives in Kishinev, so I am a regular traveler to and from... Odessa is my fav city in the world...... It reminds me of New Orleans, only without the crap of New Orleans.... I'll give you one bit of advice..... Deribosevsky...... Hotel Frapolli.... You will not be dissappointed. Das vi Danya!
