I can never understand people who want to stay in there own city and never want to visit new and interesting places ( Benidorm does not count)
My Motto in Life is: I am out for a good time all the rest is propaganda.

Once Upon A Time In Berlin Regrets, I've had a few.... Since my first trip to Berlin in 1992, I'd always regretted not visiting the Pinguin Club. It featured very heavily in the Dave Rimmer book, 'Once Upon a time in the East'. Instead, I spent the nights there drinking in the rip-off bars on the 'Ku-Dam' or playing Scramble in the Hostel bar, trying in vain to get off with female Backpackers from Denmark. What we should have done is gone to the Pinguin Club; where we could have had the chance to booze it up with Dave, Mark and the other characters that were mentioned in the book. During the course of 1994 I read O-U-A-T-I-T-E again (Once upon a time in the East). I enjoy long soaks in the bath and love ... read more
Bails Out! It was my Birthday weekend and also it coincided with a Stag party of one Stretcho and Mikey Boy's mates. David Bailey or Bails picked Chaddy and I up from our respective homes and we hit out on the highway. Chad wanted him to stop at an off License, so he could buy some cans of lager for the Journey. But Bails was having none it, he told him "F*ck off, if I can’t have a drink then you can’t" Bails was Old Skool Team Moston. He had moved out of the Manor to Longsight about 6 years ago and settled down with his wife and kids. No one had seen or heard from him a few years and here he was back on the pub scene, a clear sign to me that ... read more
Back on the Road The Baltic States, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were to be our new mission. We bought a return flight to Estonia and so on a gloomy rainy summer’s day we flew out into the unknown. We arrived mid afternoon and made our way to the Bus Station and bought tickets for an overnight coach to Vilnius (Lithuania) We had two weeks to visit 3 countries, so I came up with the plan of taking the overnight coach to Lithuania and then working our way back up to Estonia via Latvia. So with the tickets bought, we now had about 6 hours to kill, so we caught a tram back to the centre. I wanted to try and avoid seeing too much of downtown Estonia as we would be spending the last few ... read more
I Am Getting A Team together It was the Dog’s idea to go Glastonbury for the music festival, at first I said no when he asked me. But during a night spent popping little fellas, he talked me in to going. I thought there would be a big team going but it turned out to be just me, the Dog and Col Killy. Yes I was travelling again with him after all that happened in New York. I did contemplate ducking out but I could not let down Team Moston. I should have gone 10 years ago but because of a mix up in the cars we were renting I did not go. I was very excited in attending my first music festival and also a bit nervous as we had no tickets and after ... read more
In the Beginning Kev Duff had moved house to Athlone Avenue, a nice quiet cul-de-sac, in a nice part of Moston. He invited me around for a coffee and chat and to show off his new abode. Out of the blue he asks me “Do you fancy going to New York” I am quite taken aback by his request, as Kev has never shown any interest in travelling before. He goes on to tell me that British Airways have cheap deals on for November, only £209 for a return flight. I tell him to count me in and I will have a chat with Jeff and see if he wants to come. I speak with Jeff and he is up for it, and Kev persuades Chaddy to come along. Kev then books the flights for ... read more
Lets get ready to Rumble I sat in the front room of our house, I was eager to get on the road again. Everything was set; the plan was a good one (on paper) A taxi to the Chorlton Street Coach Station, coach to Luton Airport, taxi to the Travelogue for overnight stay. Taxi to airport next morning for our 1pm flight to Kiev, then another overnight stay at Marina’s Auntie’s apartment, and then we take an overnight coach to Chisinau. Easy hey? The original plan was to take a coach at 3:55am to avoid the overnight stay in Luton but a week before the journey; we decided to the spent the night in Luton and so we would be bright and breezy for our flight. I got on the phone to National express and explained ... read more
Fixing a hole We arrived at the Bus station after sitting 5 hours on a Rackety bus. If I ever drop the big one on the Lottery I will give the Moldovan Government 1 million Euros to tarmac the road from Chisinau to Odessa, the roads has more pot holes in them than the surface of the moon. We had 5 hours or so to kill before our train to Kharkiv was due to depart. Our Travel mission was to visit Kharkiv and Dnepropetrovsk, both cities are located in eastern Ukraine and are rarely visited by tourists. We walked from the station towards the centre, after ducking into a bank to get some Hrivnas, as we passed the Passazh hotel my memories came flooding back of when Marina and I and my buddy Jeff staid ... read more
One of the pleasantest things in the world is going on a journey. We take a bus to the train station and then a train to the Airport, we are travelling light. We both have a rucksack each and the buggy with Lisa in. No big suitcase this time. We are arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare, we drink a coffee while we are waiting for check and we find out that the morning flight to Prague had been cancelled due to bad weather. We commiserate with the people who were suppose to on that flight and now are rebooked on this one, I tell them that last time we flew to Prague the same thing happened to us and we had to be rebooked on the later flight and it ... read more
MORNING GLORY Friday 3:45 in the AM and my Mobile plays the tune “the Entertainer” it’s my wake up call for our (epic) Journey to Moldova. I wake up Marina and Lisa (our little 15 month old bundle of joy) and we start to get dress and wait for our Taxi. So it begins…… The Plan, like all good plans are worked out well in advance and are flexible if anything goes wrong, well the plan was to fly with Czech airlines to Bucharest (via) Prague. And then take a flight to Moldova (Chisinau) with Tarom Airlines. We arrived at Manchester Airport at 5am, and waited in line for the check in to open. Marina’s suitcase was huge and weighed just under the 25kgs limit. It was full of gifts for all her family and ... read more
Getting to Moldova from Manchester is not easy or cheap as I was soon going to find out. I had 2 options to get there. Plan A: was take a flight via Stanstead Airport (near London) to Chisinau, easy eh? But expensive £400 plus for a return flight. Plan B: Take a flight to Romania via Frankfurt and then take an over night train to Chisinau. Flight would cost £188 and price of the Train Journey was about 40 Euros. So I did the Maths and the travel romantic stirred inside me which told me to take an over night train journey and it would be exciting. So I took flight B….. A week before the flight I changed my mind and I bought a flight to Chisinau from Bucharest (£86) and I was to ... read more
