LOL. im an indonesian, and about the tuba part thing, it actually means "no honking". "no scratching" is as in "don't mark or write anything on the surface of the wall". Anyways I enjoyed your blog! It gave me a good laugh. - grace

Ken- Great entries. The video, although it may seem rather short and bland to you, makes it all seem more real to the reader. The picture are very nice too. Keep the entries coming! Rich

Keep writing...snapping pictures
Ken- I'm taking a week off of work only to spend more time at home; as luck would have it, my son became sick during my leave so we can't really go anywhere. As I sit here in my Rio Bayamon dwelling, I'm glad I can get away to Nepal just by reading your blog! Keep the entries coming! Namaste, Rich

good reads....
Ken, It really sounds like you are a world away from inspecting tankships and wondering what to put on the next HSSC agenda. I have enjoyed reading about your travels and seeing the pictures. How does someone like Christina last in a place like Indonesia? Keep up the blog entries. Rich

Train Classes
Hi there, hope you enjoyed your time in Indonesia. I think there is another significant difference in the train classes. the executive trains always have priority. If for some reasons more trains have to "fight" for a railway, you can bet the executive one will get through first.

News
Hey Ken !!! I just saw you're blog entry about the Rinjani trek (looks gorgeous.. i'll fix my knee problem and try to do it when i come back with Anais !). We had some nice quiet days on Gili Meno with Vianney and Kevin). Now i'm in Ubud for the last week (finally no more muezzins ;-)). One more thing to notice. As i was one more time testing Newton's Law on Physics, i broke a glass ful of Arak on our terrasse in Gili Meno. But i'm quite proud i didn't anything else in between (even the plastics chairs for the Ledong danses yesterday) I hope you could arrange your visa problem !!! Hasta la vista hombre ! Cheers Gilles

Yeah, you were right about St. Johns
Hey Dave, St. John's was pretty incredible for snorkelling. I bet it would be even better if I actually dove there. BUt you MUST try to get to Indonesia, specifically the Komodo Islands area. It was pretty amazing... much better than the Florida Keys or anything I've seen in the Caribbean. Just like a National Geographic magazine. Anyway, I hope all is well in Beantown. Take care. - Ken

Nubra Valley
If you don't find what your looking for in Nepal, you might look into travel to the Nubra Valley. Northwest of Nepal, between Pakistan and China is the Nubra Valley. In a documentary about the Dalai Lama (2007) they say that traditional Tibetan villages and monasteries still exist in NV.

Good Luck
Ken, from the moment I met you in basic training 14 years ago it was obvious that you were already around the bend from the rest of the crowd. I wish you best of luck in your endeavors. If you should happen upon San Francisco, you're more than welcome to stay with us. We'll even let you sleep in the car if it makes you more comfortable given your recently attained "homeless" status! Stay safe and don't wear that outfit you wore during my CCTI.....I don't think the rest of the world is ready for an elaphant proctologist!!! Mike
