Boca houses
Boca houses
pretty houses in dangerous boca
Hi! So, I know it's been a bit since I last blogged and that's because nothing exciting has happened because I've been staying in almost every night since Yago and I broke up because whenever I go out, I end up turning into a mess because I see him and Silvina together. But I'm better now! Sam, Kate, Cosi, and I have a dinner date tonight, which should be nice because I really haven't seen Cosi since she moved out of the residence. Residence life is wearing me out. So much happens so quickly with everyone. I'm still sad about Sofia [View Full Entry]

Well, Yago cheated on me and broke up with me so that sort of puts a damper on my mood. It sort of makes the trip a little less fun, actually, a lot less fun. I am sad and broken and hurt and right now, I am not ok. We live in the same building on the same floor. Everyday I see him, I am going to be reminded of what he did to me. I will be ok though. Tonight, we are going to the Brasilian club. Yago too. We are going to try being friends. Why not? I am [View Full Entry]

Well, the title is self-explanatory and if you have been reading this blog at all, you know that Noah is my other half! Without him and Sofia, I REALLY don't know what I'm going to do! I'm so sad that I'm doing that weird repression thing that I do where I pretend things aren't happening to me or I push people away just because I don't want to get hurt. Anyway, yeah, he's sad and I'm sad and Juan is sad and everyone is sad! He just told me he came to my room to find me today to cry with [View Full Entry]

Dulce de leche is pretty much served with anything you can think of and it is quite delicious. So, life in Buenos Aires these days is about the same. There were two protests today. (Only two?!) Paid about 800 pesos to get a head CT because Sofie and her mom thought I was going to die. Yanno, the usual stuff. Hating the food, wanting to barf everytime anyone mentions pizza, pasta, or empenadas. Noah and I got creative last night. Fresh bread, smoked salmon, cream cheese, and cucumbers. Finally! FOOD! What else? Ah, my university as usual is rocking. A class [View Full Entry]

Sooooo Mohamad just took my stitches out with nail clippers and my eyebrow tweezers while I sat on a toilet seat. Haha. But I'm stitch-free and happy! Although I guess my head still kinda hurts. He says it looks like it healed well, though. Today Mohamad and I went to San Telmo to check out the markets and be tourists. We went to the open-air markets that sell antiques, such as old spoons and gramophones. We saw a couple of old men, one playing guitar and one playing the accordion. It was soooo cool! And then we saw a couple dancing [View Full Entry]

Just as a reminder that I'm in a Latin American country, I had another terrible bus experience. This is in addition to the one we had just the other day (me, Kate, and Maxine). First experience, the bus driver basically steals our money, telling us that the machine wasn't working, asked us for more money, then pocketed it. I've explained before how hard coins are to come by here, so you can imagine how angry that made me. And I was so confused and didn't have the ability in spanish to yell at him. Then today, the SAME bus driver...I tell [View Full Entry]

Well, it wasn't fun. After drinks/dinner last night, I somehow lost my balance and fell backwards and hit my head on the pavement. Hard. It didn't really hurt, I was mostly just embarrassed to have fallen. I got up and was like, "yeah, I'm fine," but then someone was like, "no, you're not. There is blood running down your neck into your shirt." So luckily, I have a wonderful boyfriend and a nice friend who took me to the hospital here. Yago and Mohummad were probably not happy with me though because I was sobbing because I hate hospitals, and I [View Full Entry]

SKYDIVING WHAT!!!!!! Yesterday I jumped out of a plane that was 10,000 feet above ground! Who does that!? KIMI DOES. We did what is called "tandem" skydiving, which is when you are strapped to a professional skydiver. We free fell for about 45 seconds, and then he pulled the chute and we floated for like a minute and a half or so. All we were told pretty much was to maintain the "banana" position. You keep your head up, and put your legs behind you in between the legs of your instructor. It was pretty much the coolest thing ever. Yago, [View Full Entry]

Alfonsin South America » Argentina » Buenos Aires
Right now outside my residence there are thousands of people in the streets because last night ex-president Raul Alfonsin died. He was one of the good ones. People are sad. People actually liked him. From what I remember, he was the first to begin trying to punish those from the military regime. It didn't work very well, though, and there ended up being a law that said basically only the main leaders could be punished and not those that were just "following orders." That's politics. The military still had so much influence over the government and they didn't want to have [View Full Entry]

Uruguay South America
After saying a sad, awful goodbye to Hussain at 6 am, we left for the ferry station in order to go to Montevideo. Kate was still drunk, and the rest of us were incredibly tired. The ferry was HUGE and really cool. We arrived a whole hour early, so we could get the front row and watch the water. But we slept the whole way there (3 hours), ha. No surprise there, right? When we arrived, it was really really hot and a little confusing. First of all, the Uruguyan peso is wayyyy inflated. So, to buy a bottle of water, [View Full Entry]
