Touched down in the land of the rising sun at arouund 2pm at Narita Airport (or as Kari misread it "Narnia Airport") It took us about 3 hours to get thru customs and arrive at our hostel since the airport is really far outside the Toyko limits. The hostel is really nice, far cleaner than anything in Europe but that goes for all of Japan as everything is spotless and the people are very respectful of their surrondings and each other. Spending last week with US Airways up in Lebanon, NH working the flights was not my favorite use of time. The leaves were changing and it was really senic but last time I checked I wasn't 60 years old and out scoping leaves so I didn't have much to do. Returning to Athens was a lot more difficult than expected as there were storms in DC where I had planned to have lunch with Tate before making the 6:30 flight from Charlottle. My time on the Vineyard is now just a memory. After just under four months on the Island of Martha's Vineyard I have taken my last flight from the MVY airport which was for all intensive purposes my home for the summer as I worked 60-90 hours a week and any time I wasn't at the airport or having friends up to visit I was on a US Airways plane back to Athens. So the reason I haven't written in a while is because that tropical storm "Beryl" from my last entry devastated the Island and we've only just restored basic services to the Island....ok not really. The dreaded tropical storm turned out to be about 15 mins of light rain, followed by a beautiful morning. The real reason I haven't made an update is because I have either been out of town or hosting one of the many visitors to this Island paradise.
