It seems as if we are getting down to the wire. We have two weeks of work left and still so much to do. I cannot believe how fast the time is going. This week our main objective was to complete our two ideas and start moving forward. There were minor setbacks daily that made us continually make changes and push back more work. Every day began to become longer and longer work days. We started coming in earlier and staying later. Welcome to the real world. Our group gets along so well though and we have so much fun together that it is all worth it. Tuesday meant Bachelorette time. Emily, Jenna and I sat around the little computer screen and watched the weeks Bachelorette. This always provides us with entertainment and laughs. Some of ... read more

Friday morning we had a nice early wakeup call at 4 am. Luckily the great thing about London is that the sun was already up and so our walk to the bus stop at 4:30 was nice and bright. We caught the bus over by our school and took an hour and a half bus ride to the London Stansted, the airport. We got checked in, got through security and got to our gate. Shortly after we got to the gate we began boarding. One more RyanAir flight to add to my list. Always makes me a little anxious. I like how you can sit wherever you want, so we could all just clump together in an area. I sat with Emily and Russell and we had a great time telling horror stories of flights and ... read more

A short work week - only 3 days! Tuesday we got to sleep in an extra hour and start from our apartment. We headed to the advertising agency to learn all about the advertising strategies and learn about some of the actual projects they have done for Hasbro. We spent the morning there and then had a short break before heading back to Regent’s for work in the afternoon. We worked until 5ish and then took a break. After work we just took it easy and hung out. My roommate bought the first two episodes of the Bachelorette and so we spent our night watching those. There was a group of us sitting around her computer on a kitchen chair to catch all the action. Wednesday and Thursday were just two more days of work that ... read more

Friday morning we walked to King’s Cross Station with our luggage and got ready for our adventure to Scotland. Little did we know what kind of adventure we had coming our way. I went to Scotland with my friends Jenna, Tyler and Russell. It ended up being a really good travel group. I knew Jenna before I came to London. She was my friend, Emily’s roommate sophomore year before Emily and I went to Luxembourg. So I got to know her really well then and then over this past year. Tyler is Jenna’s boyfriend and I have had quite a few classes together. I really just got to know him over this past year because we both lived in Hawk’s and had classes together so we would carpool. They are both really great people and have ... read more

Our competitive teams are broken up and work has begun. I am on team A so our group was the first to meet with our designer at Hasbro. Each group is assigned a designer to help guide us with the ideas we come up with. They are like a sound board within the company so we can see if there might be any legs on our ideas. Our designers name is Carolyn. She was a lot of fun to work with in our session. We learned a great deal of information that will be beneficial while we are working on our project. We had to train back into work at Regent’s College. Once we got back we hit the ground running and started working on our project and discussing ideas. At 5 pm I was ready ... read more

Had an early wake up call for Friday so we could shower and go pick up our passes to see all the London sites. Jenna, Tyler, and I went around for the two days we had the pass. On Friday we started at St. Paul’s Cathedral. It was so much more interesting than I expected. We ended up staying half the morning there. The architecture was so extravagant and there were so many beautiful views. We started the climb up the cathedral and got to the whispering level and got to walk around the interior of the dome of the cathedral. We met the goofiest man, but he was all about telling versus the information and teaching us the whisper trick. We all sat at different points of the circle and whispered to the wall and ... read more

...and the charge begins. Monday we spent the whole day at Hasbro learning about the company and the charge. The Hasbro office is so fun and laid back. When you first walk in there is a game display of all the Hasbro games (Sorry, Clue, Pictureka…). We were fed coffee/teas and crackers/cookies when we first got there. Then we got to learn all about the company and more in-depth information on our target market. Then we had an extravagant lunch with sandwiches, potato fries, side dishes, drinks and cookies. As a Hirvela this was just great, taking full advantage of any free food. After lunch we got to walk around the office and see all of the areas. Everything was so laid back - everyone was in casual outfits and posted in their “creative element.” There ... read more

WELCOME TO LONDON. And my next adventure begins and I cannot wait to start working, traveling and experiencing London. I have my bags packed, repacked and ready to go. I boarded the plane in Dallas and 9.5 hours later I touched down in “London Town”. After getting my way through border control, customs and bag reclaim I exited the airport and began my trek through the city to Regent’s College. I was with my friends, Jenna and Tyler, and we caught the Express train to Paddington station. From there we made our way via taxi to Regent’s College. Who would have thought that all three of us and our luggage would fit in one small London taxi? Well it was more like how many clowns can we fit in the small car, but we made it! ... read more

34 major cities, 17 countries and 4 amazing months. It has been such a humbling and gratifying experience. I was able to learn about 17 different countries and experience their culture. Traveling every weekend showed me the knowledge and drive I can put forth into creating unforgetable experiences and how to adapt to every single situation. You never know what is going to be thrown at you next. You miss trains, you get to class late, you do not sleep for two days; these are all things that made this experience so wonderful. I never would wish those upon anyone, but it only makes you appreciate the little things more and it makes the experience more fun. What’s not fun about surprises? Travelling to Europe has allowed me to see and experience so many new things ... read more

The last destination. How crazy it has already come. We had a two hour train ride from Luxembourg to Paris. It flew by, I just read and when I finished my book we were quickly approaching the train station. We got into Paris Est and then had to get our way to our hotel on Metro line 13. The first train ride did not seem too bad because we had elevators and flat ground to roll around our luggage. Once we hit Paris we had towers of stairs and no elevators. With a 50 pound bag, 20 pound bag and my backpack I was struggling to get my stuff up stairs. Going down was not so bad because you could just drag the bag down behind you, but going up was not that simple. So many ... read more
