So what have I been doing this past month??? Where do I start... How about with FOOD!! since I love it so much. Turns out ive put on like 5kg in 3months, oh well, you only life once, im in Italy, its part of the exchange process, and holy crap the food is sooo good. Words cannot describe the goodness! and even the novelty of taking a trip to the big Italian supermarket wasnt worn off yet. Lets just say when Italians brag about their their food being the best in world, trust me they have a very good reason for it. And therefore im taking advantage of having this good food at bay. and it turns out I now have a bad chocolate addiction as well as a new found love for salt. Not to ... read more

I cant believe another month has gone by, and way too fast. And what an amazingly busy and wonderful month its been... Firstly I went to Pisa!!! That place is incredible. And I can now say I sat and ate a panini infront of the Leaning tower of Pisa :) Oh yeah! lifes good! haha So my host brother moved to a University up the North of Italy and we had an excuse to have a bit of a road trip. We drove through Tuscany and made our way up to La Spezia. That city is soo beautiful. I think its proberly my favourite city so far in Italia, which is really saying something, cause to me every city is so incredible breath-takingly beautiful. Its one of those cities that in my opinion has everything. Its ... read more

Well today its exactly a month since I arrived in Italia! And what an incredibly awesome, and emotional month its been. I feel like ive seen and done so many things already. And im very happy to say that im nearly adjusted to the Italian way of life. The scary driving, the sleeping hours(or basically the hours that you dont sleep), the food, and in general the difference of the society, because as ive said many times, its incredibly different to little ol' NZ. But of course.. I still walk around barefoot, all the time. Including yesterday during my two hour walk home from school. New Zealand represent! So last night I went out to a restourant with my brother and his mates. I had an AWESOME time. Everyone always wants to talk to me and ... read more

You know what I really love about being one of the only non-italians in my area. The fact that I can get anyway with ANYTHING. Simply just because of that fact that im a foreigner. For example walking barefoot around Taremo yesterday. One of the most beautiful and captivating cities in the world, and I can say I walked barefoot around it. Oh Yeah! Sure I was getting the most weirdest looks from EVERYBODY but I would just tell people its a perfectly normal thing in New Zealand. I think that me having light blue eyes, white-ish skin(only compared to Italians!), and light brown hair is definitly an advantage because therefore people know that im a foreigner, and I can get away with anything I desire! The other night we went to a little bar and ... read more

Well after all that anticipating(3-4years, no biggy), I have finally arrived in Italia!! Now I tried my hardest not to have any expectations of Italy and I thourght I had done a good job. That is until I arrived in Italy. Its extremely different to what I could have ever imagined and the famous exchange student quote is really coming in handy... 'Its not better, its not worse, its just different'. And thats how I want to describe Italy. Ill start with Rome. One word.. Belissimo! Of course im sure most people know of the beauty of the colosseum and the ancient architecture but Wow you have to see it to believe it. When I arrived I was greated with a lovely temperature of 38 degrees, (which was exactly to my liking after the cold NZ ... read more

Ok so ive been counting down about for about 9 months now. And the day ive been anticipating is nearly here. The 29th Of August im off to Italy! I know for most experienced travellers this may not be a big deal, but for a 17year old Kiwi girl stuck in New Zealand down the bottom of the world, its a HUGE deal! I've always known that travelling is in my blood. Its the Wild genes that I've inherited, and thats whats influenced my utter fascination of other cultures. My Grandad was a pilot, and he would always share many amazing stories and experiences of his globe trotting adventures. My Dad has travelled the world many times. Lived in England, lived in Australia, and bascially been all around the world on a shoe-string budget, thats what ... read more
