Lawrence Follow up on my previous coment. That guy, Lawrence the camel driver( didn't catch his last name but he had L.O.A. on his belt buckle) was a crotchety old man with a very proper British accent and he also spoke Arabic fluently. He convinced us we would be better off trusting his camels across the desert from Ceuta. We were young and, against beter judgement, said what the heck so we agreed. He was most interesting but seemed to have flights of fancy(almost delusional) with wild stories of his younger days in the desert. As we were coming across the desert and into Fez, we crossed a railbed and all of a sudden he goes ballistic when he sees a train in the distance. He immediately starts into a strong gallop toward the train and it was all we could do to hold back our camels from following along. In the distance, we could see him riding along the side of the train, raising his cane above his head with his turban flying and shouting something Arabic. Because we could see Fez on the horizon, we decided that we would not try to catch up with him but go on into Fez. Suprisingly, some of the locals in Fez who spoke broken English, knew Lawrence very well, showed us where to take the camels(which we had already paid for) and said our experience was not the first time that had happened. We felt a little better but stuck to bus transportation after that when we traveled to Marrakech and other areas.
Morocco rules Hi,
I came across your blog and just had to comment. My name is Kelsey also, and I just went to Morocco with my Moroccan boyfriend in January! Odd eh?
Anyway, nice pictures- I really like your blog:)
WOW! Kelsey,Great Pics from Morrocco! They(pics) show up really well on the black background---Love the market scenes with the light filtering down. And if I'm not mistaken, that's the same camel I rode 30+ years ago while in Morrrocco. We had gotten off the boat in Ceuta and were looking for transportation but an older gentleman,Lawrence I beleive his name was, said cars were unsafe in the desert and convinced us to let him lead us on his camels through the desert. Can still see the camel spitting and smell the dung.
my heart be still Thanks Kelsey for the posting. The pictures are breathtaking and my guess is they don't begin to do justice to that beautiful part of the world. On the other hand as I read of the adventures (it reminds me of Adventures in Babysitting movie) I am so glad I was not aware of your sketchy plans until afterwards.......so proud of your resourcefulness and thankful you are safe. Love ya bunches
but then again... ...maybe you are going for the "snapshot" in time approach to blogging (ala high school yearbook circa 1994) instead of a living, breathing document and way for us to keep tabs on you. Maybe as a bookend I should post a photo of me calling london? (or trying to)
it's a shame... ...that you are so busy studying and in classes that you never have time to go out and see more of London and thus post more photos and updates.
Kelsey,
Based on my careful analysis of your post, and the photographic evidence submitted, I can only conclude that you are having too much fun. This is in direct contradiction to the seriousness of our menopholitic underscorch, not to mention a severe violation of our interlocumentary distripumoctupus. I have, therefore, no other option except to objectulaminously striate.
Make no mistake, young lady, I am serium, and will be dirigible in all further correspondence.
Harummph...and...pip pip old chap...I mean, really, cheerio and all that rubbish. Quite.
Did you happen to notice the same thing I did through your photographs of Stonehenge? If you look at the stones exactly the right way they spell out two letters: "U" and "J." UJ. Uncle Jim. Or, as some would have it, those with finer taste, Uncle Jime.
Perhaps yet another example of my influence on this big blue marble.
But, I digress.
There was a story on NPR about the football thugs at Guilford. A junior young woman gave a comment--she came off very well, and was genuinely upset about the situation. Apparently, folks are getting together to let the admin know how they feel. My guess is that the football coach will be fired (and rightfully so), and Guilford will have a reevaluation of policy re:athletes.
It is an ugly and sad situation. I am counting on Guilford to handle it the just way, and I think this will happen. As a result, there will be positive changes at the school.
Well...UJ is a fellow student...and Jeezus Aitch You-Know-What On a Crutch!!!! This is about the toughest thing I think I have done!!!! But I will make it...if not on brains well then it will have to be on my extraordinary charm. =:-o
Pip, pip and all that...quite...I mean, REALLY!
Take hair
Whoops, I mean TAKE CARE!!!!
