Back in S.A Africa » South Africa
Well I am back in South Africa now after a glorious 8 hour drive. 4 hours shorter than my cool bus journey I took. My last day in Zim my cousins took me out and I spent my last of my millions. In Zim the currency really is a joke; but a good thing for people coming over with US$. My cousins where simply amazing; they took the time to take me out and show me there country. They treated me to adventure; taking me camping, gave me the opportunity to scope wildlife and for that I am very thank full. [View Full Entry]

Sudsa Day!! Africa » Zimbabwe » Bulawayo
Sudsa and Coke!
Sudsa and Coke!
Chowing down some off the good stuff and a side serving off coke!
To cure everybodys sore heads today was concealed as 'Sudsa Day'. A day of traditional greatness; a day matched only with Christmas. A day of purity; a detox to the system for all the sins against mankind. OK enough rubbish... sadly the maid chucked a sicky; she was to be the one to make the traditional suda but we had the next best thing (apparently); the white man. Sudsa with traditionally cooked meats was on the menu and oh how these guys can make suda tasty :). Dad I'm sorry but your sudsa needs to be thicker; only then will I [View Full Entry]

Race Day!!! Africa » Zimbabwe » Bulawayo
Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong
Lance has nothing on this future champion of this sport.
Today was race day. Team Discovery (our team) was out for gold and a piece of the pie aka the prize money. All morning the bikes where tweaked and prepped for what would be a monsterous ride. 22km of daunting hills, dirt and competiton oh my! At about 4pm we did a ride down to a place called Busters Sports Centre where as we would start. There where about 50 other riders with 2 races to take place with a 5 minute gap. We registered ourselves and WHAM 5 minutes to race time...GAME ON. The race itself was good. Lots of [View Full Entry]

Against The Wall Of Bravery
Against The Wall Of Bravery
This wall is a piece of history... so am I.
Today my cousin Ashley came out and picked me and a few other people up and we went up to a tourist spot known as 'Matopis'. This place is on the world heritage list so a spectacle viewing was in order. Lucky for us the Zim rain was pouring down as heavy as Elephents gushing urine in which I witnessed the other weekend; heavy, wet and at great speeds. The place itself is very nice. The main thing about it is that everything is rock. Huge rock figures are planted all over the park; many you can climb; but being with [View Full Entry]

Lazy Day zzzzzz Africa » Zimbabwe » Bulawayo
I had a juicy lay in today; a much needed one at that. I woke up at 9am. Watched TV all morning then in the arvo drove around with Michelle to the shops and stuff. In the evening David, Michelle and I headed out Mountain Biking again, this time for 35km. Was very tiring but adventurous none the less. This evening we went to Leslies house had some dinner and talked. Karen bought me some Cherry Plum. She knew that I was in search of It as it had come as a recommendation from my dad to get some. It’s a [View Full Entry]

My Prized Fighter
My Prized Fighter
Jonnae with his pet lion 'BoBo'
Awaking at 5.30am to the sound of birds and other unknown faraway creature noises I stuck on a pair of jeans and headed out to the game park where I met up with an animal trainer. He took us out on foot to the middle of the game park where Lions where grazing. Armed with a stick the lions seemed to be absolutely no threat to us; but a huge threat to other wildlife. Upon arrival the lions scoped out some Zebra and began stalking; unbelievable to see it all in person. No dinner for our lioness though the Zebra where [View Full Entry]

Where we setup camp.
At around midday we had finished packing everything in the back of the car. Tents, foods and drinks, fishing rods and anything else David and Michelle deemed important enough to bring with. We set off on a 2 hour trip down to a place called Antelope Park; a place famous for its elephant and lion programs. Upon arrival as we started setting up camp upon this beautiful lake. Soon later we where greeted by 3 Elephants who decided it would be nice if they paid us a welcome visit. They came right up to where we were pitching tents. I was [View Full Entry]

All Aboard
Getting on the Ellie to go on a game walk.
I woke early this morning after an extremely comfortable sleep. I was in a small dome tent just big enough to fit me, but I have never had such a ‘lekke’ sleep, the noises and fresh air on the outside was enough to make me feel dreamy. We started the day with a fried breakfast; absolutely yummy before heading over to a spot near the lake where 3 Elephants where waiting with some trainers. We jumped on the Elephants and went walking around the bush for an hour or so looking for game. Game is the term used for African wildlife [View Full Entry]

Familia Day Africa » Zimbabwe » Bulawayo
This morning I woke up to an empty house. I walked out and was greeted instantly by the maid, gardener and another lady who I’m still yet to work out what exactly she does apart from sit and talk to the gardener all day. Today was spent with my Uncle Allan driving around meeting all my cousins; we had a drink or 2 in my Cousin Lee’s restaurant, an absolutely beautiful place. It has its own big damn and is very African authentic. Spent the Arvo with my Auntie, looking at photos and talking about growing up hear. Was really nice. [View Full Entry]

Jo'Burg to Zim Africa » Zimbabwe » Bulawayo
The trip to Zimbabwe began today! With the few delays experienced I may have been leaving a few days later than expected but the main thing is that I’m going to get there. I booked a Greyhound bus leaving at 8:45am and arriving in Bulawayo at 8:45pm. Driving through the main city of Jo’Burg on the way to the bus station you cannot help but notice the severe poverty around you. There are homeless people digging through rubbish, beggars at every set of traffic lights, coming up to your window selling anything and everything. A funny moment happened when I spotted [View Full Entry]
