English For the second time we crossed the border Argentina-Chile. This time the experience was much more positive, we did not had the same sad feeling of touristic exploitation that we tasted in Torres del Paine. Coming from Argentina we had to switch our brain to the chilean accent with 'ja, ja' again... Ok, we were quite trained this time, but we have to say that even if the language is the same, coming from one country to another in South America one has really to make an effort to grasp the differences in the accent. It takes quite a while [View Full Entry]

Lift in Valparaiso

English The few of you who managed to read through our last blog (thanks guys, we are deeply moved) should know how we got to Bariloche. These few probaly still hate us for the long descriptions (specially the italian one...). We are sure that all the others only watched the pictures and felt asleep after the second sentence (WAKE UP! I SAW YOU! take a seat, drink a coffee, and get ready this time). For them we can summarize. From El Chalten we caught a bus all the way to Bariloche along the Ruta 40 for 26 hours. Nothing more than [View Full Entry]

English Here we are again! Hello to everybody! We thank you all for still following us with this blog. It is really nice to see that people are interested (we hope it's not only for the mate competition going on ;)). Thanks for all the comments, they are always very welcome and they make us feel more in contact with you from this far continent! After the last time we moved to Argentina (yesss... we missed the asado!), but we didn't move from Patagonia, which is really huge. We realised indeed how incredibly big this country is... after 2 whole days [View Full Entry]

The Fitz Roy
Strong Wind
Il vecchio e i bambini

English We have managed it. We have completed the "W" trek in Torres del Paine, Chile. This is one of those things which usually appear in the "list of things to do before I die", beside becoming an opera aficionado and analysing the Ulysses of Joyce (as Mariela read in the travel diary of an american tourist sitting next to her in the bus). We spent five days hiking around the towers, walking more than 70 km, in the sun, rain and strong wind. We have discussed with everybody about which side to tackle the "W", pretending to know all the [View Full Entry]

English Here we are again. First of all we would like to thank all the people that are following our trip on this blog and have written a lot of 'nice' (ehmmm...) comments (it's amazing how much a mate mug can do :)). For those who asked what a mate is, when we have time, we will explain it with an illustrated section. For more detailed replies, see at the end of the blog. The competition for the mate is not over so keep on going! We are back a little bit more south than last time. Actually, if one wanted [View Full Entry]

Portray

Since we had expected many more comments from you, we have decided to offer a brand new argentinian original mate mug (see picture) to the one that will post the major number of posts in our blog. Actually at some point the quality of the post may become important... and anyway it will be us that will decide who the winner is. I know this is strongly antidemocratic...but you know the world is not just. Anyway write!! Ciao ragazzi, ci aspettavamo molti piu' commenti... siamo un po' delusi. Ok, vi potete ancora rifare. Anzi per rendere il tutto un po' piu' [View Full Entry]

English Here we are. 53 years and 2 days after Che. After some millions of others which tried to emulate his trip, it is our turn to start from Buenos Aires to discover Latin America. Actually, here this city does not look as it is in any other continent but Europe. Buildings look european, people behave as in Europe, and the food... well it is great! On top of this everything is so cheap. The prices are like in Europe, the only difference is the value of the peso... it's like feeling suddenly three times richer. We arrived here on the [View Full Entry]

This entry involves only italian friends in Italy. Hence, it is written in italian. We will try to keep the blog in both english and italian in the future. Yes, I also managed. Three weeks after Chiara, I still do not believe it... but as the pictures below may witness it looks that I also passed my exam. Some say santa Lucia has played an important role in all this business.. well let's hope she will also be with us while in south America ;) After exam we had a gorgeous party together with few other friends (~100). It was really great! Unfortunately I do not have a lot of picture to show (pls send more pictures if you have any!) Thanks to everybody! (mi urge mandare un cordiale fancU£* [View Full Entry]

I write here two lines about the day of my PhD defense. A big thank to all the people who came to my party and that contributed to make this day very special, to my paraninfs (Elena & Simona), to all the friends that I met in Holland and also to all the ones who came from Italy. And for the people who didn't come... well, maybe I will forgive you :) You can see here some photos of the defense, dinner and party. [View Full Entry]
