Hilarious! I was trying to explain my bus ride from La Paz to Rurrenabaque but wasn't doing it any justice. So.. I googled it and came across your blog. We died laughing while reading this post. I felt like I was there with you! :) I backpacked South America in 2007 and 2008...I have many stories just like this. It's amazing how nothing has changed... especially BOLIVIAN TIME. Great story!
No Way I have read and seen videos of that road. It is called Death Road , and for good reason.About once a week a bus or truck topples over a cliff. I will stay at home safely in New England. Maybe a trip to old Engand !
Airline/ Ticket Purchasing Reccommendations Hi! We would like to fly from La Paz to Rurrenabaque to avoid having an experience like yours. However, when I look on SkyScanner, the flights start at 310 USD on the airline Amazonas. Where are these $80 flights you speak of? Is it possible to buy a ticket in La Paz? Or better to book in advance? Any help is appreciated!!
Flights Hi, we used the local flights - I beleive they wouldn't come up on sky scanner I can't remember the names of the airlines but Google them - also you can book at travel agents once you get there which is what we did as the sights were not in English ! The plane was about a 20 seater small airlines and very rural just so your aware but the bus was truely terrifying and the flight was so quick
Wow Exactly the same thing happened to us! All the way through.. except that there was one flat tyre and we had to hitchhike on a pick up truck in the daylight. :)
About tipping Tipping in an Argie restaurante varies between 5 to 10%, generally is 7%, and it is NEVER demanded. Sorry, but some bad guys saw that you were tourists. In some restaurants they charge a "service charge" called "cubierto", I donĀ“t eat in those, in some of them it covers the bread basket.
wow! Looks like your having amazing adventure so far! Im really enjoying the read!... Chayse loves the alpaca picture and asked where we could get one as a pet!... Be safe and can't wait to read more!!! xo
