We stayed at a great resort, it's too bad they don't give us time to use all the amenities. The Cabot trail is rugged and wild. The Reconstructed Fortress of Louisburg with actors playing roles is amazing in it's reality. We had a whale watching trip on really rough water. Five people puking on a small boat is not pretty. Saw some Northern pilot whales up close and personal.... read more

Bay of Fundy and Hopewell Rocks has 45 foot tides. It is incredible. There's so much history here, whalers, Acadians, Dutch, Basque,English, German. One town might be all German names and the next was settled by Scotsmen. Lunnenburg has a monument to the "Men who go down to the sea in ships." In 1926-27 this tiny village lost over 200 men and boys to storms at sea.... read more

All in one day I saw the highest tides in the world, the longest multispan bridge, and drove around the beautiful PEI. The next day saw Anne of Green Gables home recreation(it is after all only a story, but don't tell that to the thousands of Japanese who go), and went to an amazing red sand beach. I spent 2 days in Charlottetown and saw a stage musical of Anne of Green Gables. I think PEI's economy survives on Anne.... read more

Port Royale Habitation is an old fort reproduction of Canada's first permanent settlement. The Annapolis Valley is gorgeous. This is where the Acadians lived for 200 years before the English deported most of them and stole their land ... read more

I seem to have skipped a few days, so I 'll go back a couple. Left Halifax and had my first breakfast at Peggy's Cove, we were the first bus there so it wasn't crowded. BEAUTIFUL. Picture perfect town and lighthouse. Then a walking tour of historic Lunenburg. I love the Maritimes.... read more

wow. Today I got to walk in the Bay of Fundy at Hopewell Rocks. We stayed the night in Moncton and got to the park at almost low tide. After climbing down 99 steps I walked where they have 45 foot tides. Just like the pictures, it was something I'd always wanted to see. Then we drove over the 13 km long Confederation bridge to PEI and had a traditional lobster supper. I actually ate mussels and clam chowder. For 2 nights we're staying in a grand old hotel in Charlottetown and the Aussies and I have taken to going to pubs. Tonight we found one with live local music. Tomorrow the tour goes to the musical Anne of Green Gables and then we will be back at the pub where I will introduce them to ... read more

5 pm Thursday. I’m sitting here in the first class lounge in the train station in Montreal, sipping my complimentary beverage and eating a little individual packet of Nutella on crackers while awaiting my turn on the complimentary massage chair. Then the steward will send us ahead of the queue to our cabins for the next leg to Halifax. I could get used to this first class. 9:30 pm Thursday.I’ve eaten my stuffed pork tenderloin medallions and chocolate caramel mousse cake, and spent ½ hour in the dome car sipping champagne. Now I’m back in my cabin waiting for the steward to turn down my bed before I go back to the dome car for the folk band. After lunch tomorrow is a wine tasting. It’s 1pm in Moncton and I’ve enjoyed a small wine tasting ... read more

I spent the day in Ottawa after making cinnamon buns at Larry's house. I thought Victoria had rain, Ottawa needs to build an Ark. We had a torrential downpour that was amazing. After 25 minutes it was done and it helped cool things down. There is a colourful market downtown and some great sightseeing. Tomorrow I may go to a couple of museums... read more
