A restfull night we had on the train to Jaipur from Jaisalmer. Jaipur is also a very crowded city. We were expecting the Pink City area calm but it wasn't. We took a fuul day tour from the tourist office at the railway station. Although the price of the tour was very cheap, many extras made the bill high. 180 inR for the museum, 10 inR for observatory area, few other entrances and the lunch we paid 255inR for two. Nice places we have visited but we were expecting to see them more clean and painted clean. The history of Jaipur is not older than 500 years. Unfortunately we didn't find what we dreamed for this city. In the afternoon we left for Agra by train. Agra is also a very rush city with its crowds. ... read more

Arriving at the Jaisalmer railway station on 3rd Feb.,we booked our further reservations on trains. In five minutes we reached to the center of the town. We walked up the fort and found a suitable hotel with town view for 700 inR per night. Hotel and restaurants are serving beer in Jaisalmer. Hotel keeper arranged a camel tour for the next day, continuing to the sand dunes by jeep. We enjoyed the camel ride of four hrs. At lunch under a tree on the desert we gave a stop. Our camel man cooked for us a delicious meal. By the way we both of us learned to cook in small pots and the simplicity of life. I think we make the life hard. Gunay offered a piece of soap to the guide to make his hands ... read more

We have already missed Kerela while we are enjoying the beatiful beaches of Goa. Goan food is also delicious as Kerela food. Good quality prawns are catched in Goa and they are sent even to south Kerela. We usually preffered sea food we felt sad when we left Goa. It was a nice 13 hrs. journey by night train to Mumbai. We were shocked by the crowds we faced. We dropped at CST station which may be concidered at the center of Mumbai. The train we left Mumbai, started from a station (Bandra Terminus) far apart from the center. Our recommedation to the foreign travellers is to get their ticket from "Churgegate Station" which is very near to the CST station. Foreign Tourist Counter, First Floor, Window 28. Asia » India » Goa » Calangute January 29th 2006

We had intended to stay at Colva,a long and quiet beach, but because of Indians Public Holiday we couldn't find a room to sleep. We tried our chance at Calangati which is 2 hrs. by bus. We used two public buses and a rickshaw. We could hardly find a room after about two hrs. walk by our backpacks. The hotel room we rented is good enough and very near the sea and we paid 500 inR per night. Calangati is over crawded. During our journey we have observed that everybody takes his shoes off while entering houses, hotel room and shops. But that doesn't mean the areas are clean. The sellers disturb you most of the time to sell something but still their smiling faces worth. We have night train ticket to Mumbai on 31st Jan. The next ... read more

The same rickshawman came and took us back to the Trivandrum railway station in the afternoon. He took us to the biggest temple in Trivandrum in whicw only Indian people can enter. There is a swimming pool just besides the temple. People after swimming and getting cleaned, can then go to pray. Our train was "Rajasti Train" which is the best one in India travelling between Delhi and Trivandrum in 48 hrs. Dinner and breakfast have been served on the train and meals were quite good. After 16 hrs. journey, we arrived at Madgoan at noon time on 27th Jan. In all trains 30 percent discount is applied to those over 60 years age.... read more

We used a CD instead.Having breakfast we decided to spend the day at Varkala. In the afternoon we spent our time on the beach and at the gift stores. At the dinner we had tiger prawn and Tibetian Veg. Momo listening local Indian music. On Wednesday 25th. we took the train from Varkala to Trivandrum. It took 45 min. and 25 InR. each, and continued to Kovalam Beach by rickshaw, about 16 km. Asia » India » Kerala » Varkala January 23rd 2006

In this region of India people are sharp on not drinking alcohol. You may not drink in public places' only at the varanda of your hotel perhaps. we had our breakfast at "Chineese Dishes" in the town very near to the boat jetty and transferred to the boat to Kollam. It took 8 hrs. and we paid 300 inR /person excluding lunch and tea stop. that boat trip by itself a totally backwater one. You watch the Kerala way of living by the water side. The nature, people and their believes make this land " God's Own Country". After KollamWe shared a taxi with a couple to Varkala. The pictures may make you feel jealous, those friends who are strugling with minus degrees' we hope to worm them by our report. We are planning to go ... read more

We got up late today and arranged our journey from Travendrum to Goa by train. Alleppey rezervation office at the railway station gives service even on Sundays but only cash is accepted. In hurry we caught the boat to Kottayam which would be our first backwater practice. The Boat Jetty is close to the hotels area and the boats departs in time. We paid 10 InR for one way each for more than 30 km. on the lake. It takes around 2.5 hrs. going and 3 hrs. back.we did not have enough time to make Kumarakom from Kottayam. Kumarakom , said to be worth seeing. We spent the night at the hotel eating and mailing on internet. ... read more
