I remember hearing that a lot of Europe shuts down in August but until Milan we didnrsquot really encounter that. However in Milan nearly everything but the tourist traps were closed and the first day we were there we had to buy dinner in the supermarket and spent the night relaxing in our hotel room which was much nicer than I expected http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Lombardy/Milan/blog-312381.html Venice The train ride to Venice seemed to take forever. First we had to catch a train to the Italian border and then one to Milan and from there to Venice. Knowing this train might be crowded we reserved seats. The seats were in groups of four and everyone around us always had a neighbor after the first few stops on the trip. We however managed to magically be seated in the only seats where no one was http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Veneto/Venice/blog-310242.html Nice We stayed in Nice for two and a half days and arrived there mid afternoon on August 3rd. The train ride was took four hours but we had good books to read so it passed quickly. Nice was so hot and beautiful All the houses and buildings were painted bright warm colors and the beach was lovely but rocky much rockier than the one at my family's beach cabin. After checking into our hotel called Ho http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/France/Provence-Alpes-C-te-d-Azur/Nice/blog-310237.html Paris Yesterday we spent most of the previous day walking through Paris and trying to navigate the Metro subway. Our clocks still being somewhat set on Northwest time we woke up bright and early after a restless nightrsquos sleep. We decided to go the Eiffel tower before all the tourists arrived. On our way there we wandered from bakery to bakery trying different pastries. Tim has decided to rescin http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/France/Ile-de-France/Paris/blog-307832.html Not coming home. We landed at London Heathrow a few days ago. I managed to doze on the plane by creatively turning the little tray in front of my seat into a head rest sort of like falling asleep at your desk at school but not as comfortable. However Tim couldn't get any sleep. Nobody warned me about how terrible the pressure change can be on your ears as you come down to land from such a high altitude.
