Love to travel and finally at a place in my life where I can

Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Bantry August 3rd 2013

We had left Waterford Castle in the morning and spend some time seeing the historical sites around Waterford as well as the Viking structures that had been left behind. Once we were satisfied we decided to head on out towards Bantry for our next B&B at the Dromcloc house. It had been raining on and off and the streets narrow we were a few miles a way when "bang" we hit a pot hole that was off to the side of the road and filled with water. It was enough though to dent both the left side tire rims and of course blow both tires. Estimated time for help was about two house. The nearest rental place was back in Cork and they had to bring a new car for us. Thankfully this all happened in ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Dublin » Dublin August 2nd 2013

Landed in Dublin yesterday morning, got our rental car and then we were on our way to explore. First stop was our B&B St Jude's our host was David and he was extremely helpful as to where we could park our car and the easiest way to get to the city center (no way would I drive there). First stop was lunch at Neary's Pub on Chatham. It was really neat to see how many people that walked in the bartenders knew by name. Of course every sandwich on the menu pairs well with Guinness according to the bar tender. Next we made our way down Grafton Street which was neat to see all the shops and the street performers then we headed to the tourist center to get more information and of course free pamphlets. ... read more

South America » Peru » Cusco » Machu Picchu April 21st 2013

Today we started our 4 day/ 3 night trek through SAS travel. Nice early morning pick up from out hotel and then on to the starting point of the trail for us. Our guides (Eddie, Oscar, and JC) were awesome for the whole trek and would really recommend SAS Travel for anyone wanting or planing to do the Inca Trail. The trek was harder than I was expecting but I live at sea level and even though I arrived in Cusco three days early I had been sick the entire time a cold/flu not GI. Actually never got sick in Peru or on the trail). However, that did not stop me from enjoying the trek and seeing the amazing views it has to offer that are out of the way for those traveling by train or ... read more

South America » Peru » Cusco » Cusco » Cusco April 18th 2013

First day in Peru: After flying all night and being rerouted through Florida I was so happy to finally be at my final flying destination for this trip. I was met at the airport by Mercedes the owner of the hotel Casa De Mama 2 I had booked for our time in Cusco. She took me back to the hotel where I met up with my friend who arrived the previous day. Mercedes was a wonderful host and offered coca tea as soon as I was inside. I really enjoyed staying at Casa De Mama 2. It was just about a half mile walk to Plaza De Armas. Mercedes helped us arranged both the city tour and sacred valley tour. Pretty much every taxi driver or hotel can help you arrange tours. I took my bags ... read more
