| 22nd October 2009 josworld | RE: Length of the trek - From: A Perilous Trip to Taal Volcano with my guide Hi Kristine, I can only give you an approximate since it's been almost 3 years since we did the trip. The boat ride to Taal Volcano might probably take about 20minutes and the horse ride about 30min one way. Hope you have a great trip. Cheers ! |
| 22nd October 2009 kristine | Length of the Trek - From: A Perilous Trip to Taal Volcano with my guide Hi! I found your blog very informative as I'm gathering all the info I can get re: taal trek. I'm not the adventurous sort but my fiance is. Was wondering, how long will the entire boat ride+horseback+boat ride back etc take? Let's say...my fiance & I will do the entire thing while our other non-adventurous relatives (my side obviously) wait in Taal vista |
| 27th May 2009 josworld | Ruth - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Yes, it is fairly safe. However, like you I'm also very cautious. If you're worried, then follow your instinct. You can simply take turns in going to the underground river while one stay behind with your baby....Have a safe and happy trip !....cheers ! :) |
| 26th May 2009 ruth ann | - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier my family are planning to go to palawan this coming august to celebrate the 7th b-day of my son. however, despite of the assurance of my agency, i am quite worried of bringing my youngest daughter age 1 year old at the underground river, i just want to know if it's safe for infant? |

| 5th March 2009 wesley | Lovely place - From: Owww...No Swimming in Bribie Island ??? On hols from the UK I stayed in the caravan park on the eastern side of the island . Great park and very clean. While boarding I was shore dumped and suffered slight concusion, and a sore neck and bleeeding nose. The lifeguard Paul did some great first aid on me and recovered me to the surf station. Prior to this I found Bribie to be a brilliant beach and with some good waves. A great beach well guarded so if they say get out, then I ll take their word for it. Have recovered well. |

| 24th September 2008 josworld | RE: Batangas - From: Day At a Floating Cabin Hi Rob and Lorenza ! ... I wish I have an extensive info. to share with you about Batangas. But unfortunately, I only spent 2 days there mainly visiting family friends. To be honest, there's not really much things to do in Batangas. It takes about 3 hours to get there from Manila and spending a day at the Matabungkay Beach is more than enough...Your upcoming trip to the Philippines will be more memorable and delightful if you visit the remote islands instead...(I guess it's really a personal preference). Have a safe and happy journey !...Cheers! |
| 22nd September 2008 Rob_n_Lorenza | inspiration - From: Day At a Floating Cabin we are planning a trip to the philippines - thanks for the inspiration of your blog & photos. Any tips about things to see around Batangas would be great! |
| 23rd June 2008 josworld | Hi Cherrie... - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier There are 5 people in our group so they charged us 1000 pesos each for the Honda Bay tour....lunch and snorkelling gears are included in the package. I'm not sure how much it's going to cost you with the Underground River tour though. We booked a package holiday with Philippines Airline which includes return flight, transfers, accommodation at Hotel Fleuris and a day tour to the Underground river with lunch included (cost - 11,500 pesos per person).....Have a safe and happy trip !...cheers ! |
| 21st June 2008 Cherrie | Snorkelling details - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Thanks for all the info on Palawan. My husband and I are going to PPS in October. May I know the cost of the Honda bay island Hopping tour - snake and starfish islands?how much is the rent for a snorkelling gear?how much is the underground river tour?does it include lunch?thanks |
| 1st June 2008 josworld | Palawan Tour Info - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Hi Tish...Don't worry too much....it's fairly safe....if your kids and elders can wear the required life-jacket and helmet for safety procautions then I don't see any problem....The underground river tour (the short one) only went for about 45min. return (I think)....The most popular islands I'll recommend on the Honda Bay Tour are Snake Island and Star Fish Island....make sure you take your kids snorkelling...it's an experience of a lifetime they'll never forget.....have a safe and happy trip !....cheers ! :> |
| 28th May 2008 tish | Additional info - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Hi! Liked your photos. Our family is planning a trip this June to Palawan but we are only staying for 2 nights. Hope you can share additional info - For your Honda Bay Tour - Do they go to all the islands or can you request the guide specific islands? What Island do you reco that is safe for kids ( 6-10) and elderly (70's)? For the Underground river - How long was the underground river trip? Do they allow kids and elderly ( same age group as above)? Thanks. |
| 16th May 2008 shau t. guevara | - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Hi, i've been to snake island last april, for a for seminar, on our last day nag island hopping kami, and nagpunta ka sa snake island, i can assured na it is one of the beautiful beaches na napuntahan ko, ang linis, talagang you can really see fishes because of the clear water, and ang place na where saan kami ng seminar talagang it's so clean, and all the people in palawan are very hospitable and so kind, especially the san jose people so it you want a place where you can relax and appreciate the beauty of beaches and a very clean city, visit Puerto Princesa in Palawan |

| 3rd March 2008 josworld | Hi Beng... - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Sorry for the late reply....But I'm afraid that it is not advisable to take an infant into the underground river tour as it not 100% safe. There's a risk of falling off the boat or stalactites and debris falling on people's head. Tourists are usually required to wear a life-jacket and helmet as a safety precaution. Have a safe and happy trip !...cheers ! |
| 3rd March 2008 josworld | To Mel... - From: Puerto Galera: The Things we got up to...... Hi Mel...We stayed at Marco Vincent Resort. The resort is fantastic...very clean, comfy and safe !...sorry for not replying a lot sooner as I was in hibernation from travelblog for a while....cheers ! |

| 20th June 2007 josworld | How to get to Matabungkay (Batangas) - From: Day At a Floating Cabin Hi Dang....thanks for your comment. Here is the info. I got from the net that might be useful in getting there....."Matabungkay Beach Resorts & Hotels are located in the heart of Lian, Batangas which is only about 2.5 hours from Manila, making it the perfect beach getaway. To get there, take South Superhighway and exit at Santa Rosa or Silang. Turn right and follow the sign to Tagaytay. From Tagaytay, head to the direction of Nasugbu. After km 92, turn right to Nasugbu and Lian. At the Shell station turn left to Lian and Calatagan. Follow the road to Calatagan until you see a big signboard at the right side that directs you to Matabungkay beach resorts. Turn right and drive up to the end of the cement road leading to the beach."....cheers ! |

| 23rd March 2007 josworld | Palawan vs. Hundred Islands - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Hi Hanns....I wish I could compare the two, but unfortunately I haven't been to The Hundred Islands. I heard it's also a must-visit place. I'm puttling it on my list !....cheers !...johanna |

| 21st March 2007 josworld | Honda Bay Tour - From: Palawan: The Philippines Last Frontier Hi Joy...hotel accommodations in Palawan have a list of tour guides and travel agents running tours to Honda Bay and St. Paul Subterranean River Nat'l Park. Just call them and they should be able to book the tours for you. The hotel we stayed at, Fleuris Hotel (http://www.fleuris.com) arranged all the tours for us through "Ellen's Travel & Tours". They pick you up and drop you off at the hotel after the tour. It's hassle free ! The people of Palawan are also very helpful and accommodating. The locals and the tricycle drivers should be able to give you useful information on how to get around the tourists places in the area. It only takes about 30-45min. to get to Honda Bay from Puerto Princesa. You can just hop on the tricycle or jeepney to Honda Bay and charter an outrigger boat (banca) to take you to the islands. Make sure snorkelling is included ! ... it's the best experience ever !....cheers Johanna |

| 27th February 2007 josworld | Technicality - From: A Perilous Trip to Taal Volcano with my guide Mikel....although you sounded condescending with your overuse of exclamation marks, I will gladly accept your comment 'coz you do have a point. I did found out through satellite pictures that the massive body of water we crossed to get to Taal Volcano is a lake, as it is bounded by land. Overwhelmed by the whole experience, it is hard to tell by mere sight....cheers !-JC- |
| 26th February 2007 mikel | what ocean???????, - From: A Perilous Trip to Taal Volcano with my guide you were on taal Lake! you were certainly miles away from the nearest ocean!!!!!!!!!! |
| 12th February 2007 josworld | Climate Change - From: Philippines: Simply Nature at its Best ! Hi Darryl...Tagaytay wasn't as cold as it was before....I was also surprised that it wasn't as lush green as I remember over a decade ago. However, it's still simply breathtaking. It's a place that I'll always visit whenever I have the chance......unfortunately - you won't see any good looking guys though....but there's still plenty of food !....Have you tried the mushroom burgers ? .... you'll be surprised how it taste better than meat.....cheers!- JC- |
| 8th February 2007 Darryl | Philippine Trip - From: Philippines: Simply Nature at its Best ! What an enviable adventure you've had. I've been to Tagaytay before but I have completely forgotten the beauty of the place but I remember it was cold :-) Mind you that was during my pre-adventurous life when you hardly appreciate the beauty of nature as back then my eyes focussed only to boys and food hehehe... (you know college life!) I guess I need to revisit - cheers! |
| 22nd January 2007 Darryl | Your Holiday - From: Sunshine Coast Christmas Vacation Hi Jo nice happy pics! how was your holiday in Singapore and Phils? You lucky thing, got to use your break going overseas. I look forward to reading your entry on your Asian adventure. Hey don't worry about your spelling on your comments in my blog - people know it's just a typo as I do. It's not like one of those obvious mistakes from an uneducated brainless freak that spells 'formerly' as 'formally' :-) |
| 28th December 2006 Brett V | Nice place to visit - From: Thanks for All the Fish ! your pictures are very nice, but i have just returned from Lake Eildon and i loved it...... |

| 20th December 2006 John and Sylvia | Stole your story! - From: Babies and Golf Balls ! Joanne, I have stolen your philosopher's story and sent it on to some of my friends. I hope you aren't offended. I have never spammed anyone before but thought the story was too good to keep to myself. I would have included you on my email but I couldn't find your address. Travelblog keeps its secrets. I think you should get my email address as part of this comment, but, if not, it is john_m_wallace@optusnet.com.au if you want to respond. My wife and I are just about to leave for the Woodford Folk Festival, North of Brisbane, which starts on Boxing Day. Have a great Christmas. |
