So our first week of travel is over ... tear. We arrived in Beijing without a hitch. One of my students was on our flight, so we got a ride to our hotel with her dad. We started out the adventure at Tiamenan Square. It turns out that many Chinese haven't seen giant white peeps, so Den and I turned into immediate celebrities. People were sneaking pictures of us left, right and centre and the brave ones actually came up to snap a few shots with us. It was funny and awesome at the same time. We ate some local fares... grilled scorpions on a stick, dumplings, and Tsing Toa beer, which turns out to be an offical sponsor of the NBA??? Yeah, sure. We checked out the Silk Market, Peal Market and shopping malls (more ... read more

Wowsers! Did this week ever come up quickly :) So we're all ready to hit the road: passport-check, visas-check, bikinis-check... and I'm out!!! Yesterday I did the initial packing and today, I have to take out half of what I put in. Vic gave me this great piece of advice last year, telling me about these super cool places that they have around the world. You can walk in, give them coloured pieces of paper, and they give you what you need, like clean underwear or beer. Wicked. So here's the itin. It's pretty much set in stone, since we only have a month... How are women and typhoons alike? They come in wet and wild, then when they leave they take your house!!! (thanks Dave-o) heehee Anyways, we've been delayed a day in at the aiport because of backlog from the typhoon Nuri and the Olympics finishing up. At least they got us out and to a nice airport hotel and gave us food, so we spent the afternoon laying by the pool and watching the end of the games. It was the best delay that I've ever had to live through. Denny was excited to get home, but he got over it. We're hopefully heading out this afternoon (Monday) and then have the 16 hr blaster to get home. Maybe if they offer us free tickets around the world, we'll kindly donate our seats, but that's the only ... read more

Hi all, So as we were gearing down for the last few days of our holiday, we get to the airport and find out that our flight was cancelled. Bah. The language barrier is a still a little sticky, so we were told that there were high winds in Hongkong, so the airport shut down. We weren't all that upset though, as we got to stay in this 5 * hotel on the beach for our extra day. It was a fab finish to Thailand. A little later, we were chatting with a British guy and he said that the "high winds" were actually a level 8 typhoon. Now I'm not really sure what the levels mean exactly, but level 8 supposedly means that there is not transportation allowed, and Denny saw a note that said ... read more

Man alive... only 3 days left.... I must have the maximum amount of fun possible for the next 72 hours. We've got one more day in Koh Samui (where I will plant my ass in the sand and try to get in as much of everything as possible), then I will have my final $2 meals and then I will spend much time and energy trying to fit everything back into my bag (this is going to be a challenge). We then head to Hong Kong for a couple of days, where we will try and sneak into some end-of-Olympics festivities. So Chaweng beach here is gorgeous, the beer is cold and the shopping is unreal. We've been sleeping in late, eating fresh pineapple all day long on the beach, napping and then dining and shopping ... read more

To all my peeps, So Jossy finally allowed me to make an entry, although I had to bribe her with a pineapple milkshake. We are hanging out in Koh Phangan right now recoving from the craziness that is the 'Full Moon Party'. Saw some things that are hard to descibe in words, from dudes passed out in the ocean to sex on the beach (not the shot). All you guys that have been know what I'm talking about. Besides the party, we've been mostly laying on the beach, which suits us just fine. We need to get in as much sun as we can 'cuz we are back to winter next week. Off to Koh Samui for round two tomorrow and then to Hong Kong on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to our last adventure, Jossy not ... read more

Yup, we're back on the beach. After too much touring old, horrid war memories, we are back to peaceful, beautiful Thailand. We were in Bangkok last night and hit up the infamous Khoa San Rd for a farewell bucket. We found a great people watching station and enjoyed the world go by. There were also a group of lady boys at the next table that I couldn't keep my eyes off of... so hard to tell. So we had our very potent cocktails and decided to go and look for another adventure. We took the craziest tuktuk ride to Patpong road. Now this area of the city is a little bit more... riske I will say. It was more than I could ever describe in an email that will be read by our moms. Anyways, an ... read more

Hellooooo everybody, We made it outta Cambodia, just in time. I had definitely seen all that there was to see and was ready get on my horse. We started in Siem Reap and visited the Ankor temples for a couple of days. We somehow managed to find a pimp hotel and drove around in a taxi, so we didn't really get a real idea of what was really going on around us. We decided to have a little adventure and booked bus tickets to Phnom Pheng. Now our 4.5 hr journey turned into 6 on our "air-conditioned" ha! bus. Now we weren't kindapped or extorted or anything like what we heard from others, but my ankles were phenomenally swollen after not being able to move for that long. We made it to stinky, dirty Phnom Phen ... read more

So we walked off the night train from Chiang Mai, and headed straight to the airport. The nice lady at the desk got us on an earlier flight and we made it to Siem Reap an hour later. Wowsers! Now we had these crazy ideas of what to expect when we got here. Boy were we off course! The airport looks like a teak Asian temple. I guess that the French wanted to get some cash for their investment in this little colony, so they built it up right. We got our visas (my passport is almost full now... uh-oh) and headed to the hotel. When we told the driver where we were staying he was quite suprised. He said that we must have money, but looked more like the kind who stay in guest houses, ... read more
