| 20th March 2008 Dad | Nice - From: Time for a photo blog....reasons why I love Colombia! The pics are great, and the weather looks perfecto. Thats my Spanish. Mom says the ice cream looks great. What else would you expect from your mom...she has a problem when it comes to ice cream a real problem....Savanah says HI, nice kids are their any her age...she misses you.. |
| 2nd March 2008 joshiez | - From: woah...where does time go We did the whole 'going out thing' for the last two months. You go down to the Zona T and there are clubs....but that gets repetitive. I'm not a big fan of the Bogota Beer Company and there are some good restaurants around....Cafe & Crepes!!!....There is very little difference from one place to the next around here....Now, if I were up for trying to pick up easy girls and getting drugged/drunk every night, then this might be your place.....but for your missionary doing their best to show and live a Godly lifestyle, Bogota isn't exactly the most happening place. I don't mean to insult the city, but its not as welcoming as Chicago. We went to Melgar, and around that area of hot country. Really nice down there....that I did enjoy quite a bit! |
| 2nd March 2008 Ty | - From: woah...where does time go You are the first person I hear saying that Bogota is a boring city. Don't you go out dinner, dancing, etc? And one question... where exactly is that paramilitary area you entered? Hope you enjoy the city a little more... |
| 8th February 2008 Robert | - From: Bullrings, Superbowls and Peace Marches... How freaky is it in Colombia for American's? I recently found out that I have many relatives living in Bogota and in Barranquilla and I would like to plan a trip to visit and quite honestly I'm a little worried because of all the bad things in the news etc. What's your thought on this?? Thanx for your time Robert in Ventura ,CA |

| 25th January 2008 Chris | Another Cousin (Aunt Betty's daugter) - From: Oh, the little comforts... Hi Josh, We haven't seen you for a while. Ever since my mom died I don't really see family unless we are at a funeral. Was it at the picnic at your mom & dad's house? Tim emailed me and I just wanted to say it is great what you are doing!! About 1-2 years ago(?), Alan traveled to Columbia (auditing steel structures). He was only there for a couple of days. It was there winter and he was walking by the ocean and seen giant squid thrashing close to shore! He couldn't believe it! Anyway, can't wait to hear about your travels and wish you well! I hope to see some pictures on your blog! Way to go Josh! |

| 22nd January 2008 Chrissy | Greetings Josh - From: Two weeks in... I don't know if you remember who I am. I am your Dad's cousin. I think it's great that you are down there trying to misinter to those people. I had my taste of it a few years ago, by going down to Mexico. What a culture shock. I like reading your little blogs. Your right, the people in this country take everything for granted. Keep up the good work, and good luck with school. I will look forward to reading your little blogs. Take care Chris Simmons |
| 16th December 2007 dimitriskg | Good for you - From: Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion. I don't consider myself a Christian, but that's of none importance in this case... I just meant to say that I'm glad for you, for taking this step, no matter if I don't really adopt everything you write about God's mercy and benevolence. You are going to learn a lot, and people are going to be helped by you, so this looks to me like a win-win situation. As for safety, I have come to believe that following your common sense seriously minimizes the chances of getting in any sort of trouble. I say "minimizes", because some times, no matter what you do, you still may find yourself in the wrong place, the wrong time. I'll be following your blog, partly because you got me interested, and partly because hopefully some time in 2008 I will quit my job myself and go on a long trip to South America, including, of course, Colombia as well.
