| 9th September 2009 Dick Graphos | Coach Rubick - From: To Coach; All My Love, Bubba Mr. Bubba Wick: First of all, we don't know each other. My name is Dick Graphos. I'm living in Appleton and was born and raised in Manistique Mi. I read your article on Coach Rubick a while back and saw it again today. For not being a writer, what a terrific piece. I was touched. I grew up with Ron. Went to St. Francis de Sales grade school and Manistique Hich School. What a classmate, teammate and friend. I felt blessed just to have Known him. I don't know if you got to attend his funeral servlices or not, but what a tribute. I have never been so moved at a service as his. Tribute upon tribute was paid to Ron. Your article said it all. I attended Manistique High Schools dedication of the football field iln Coach Rubicks name last weekend. It was well attended by his former teammates and many friends. I understand that Manitowoc will be doing the same this week end. Another wonderful trilbute. Just wanted to let you know that you expressed your feelings for Ron very well. We'll all miss a wonderul person. I'll miss a great guy and a dear friend. Dick Graphos P.S. You also hit the nail on the head in describing Rons wife JoNell.A beautiful woman in and out! |

| 27th August 2009 joncasssouthkorea | panorama - From: Sapa - rific! The two girls in the large panorama picture are actually weaving the strands they've prepared in order to make the cloth for their clothes. The girl on the right has a ball of it starting on her hand. As they walk and talk with the tourists, they are constantly weaving the string on their hands to make a ball of yarn(ish) to take back to the village and make the cloth... then woven into cloth, then dyed, then made into clothes, then details are added and then finished. whew... |

| 15th July 2009 joncasssouthkorea | Thank you~ Thank you! - From: Boryeong Mud Festival: Living up to the Hype Susan- Thanks so much for the comment. I really glad you are enjoying the blog and articles. It's great to share with everyone not in the position we are. It reminds me, I was just talking to a Korean the other day about the whole ESL phenomenon in Korea. I think an 'unwritten' responsibility of us here is to be ambasadors, both of America (to familiarize and teach about western culture) and also of a more closed off Korea (sharing our experiences and the culture back home). I am fortunate enough to be able to do this through writing. Please share the blog with anyone you like! Did you attend the Folk Fest last weekend? Heard it was incredible! |

Been to that island many times (yet never blogged about it) including one time we were stranded because of a storm. No boats coming or going out of the island. But we were happily stranded.....made the most of our time, enjoyed the sugar-fine sands, even the washed out sandcastles. Your blog is so full of excitement. All the details paint a very exciting island adventure. I'm glad you had a wonderful time. |

| 23rd October 2008 Laurel | Hi, I'm James' friend - From: 1..2..3… Everyone say “Kimchi!” Hi Jon, you don't know me, but I know a bit about you as I worked with your brother James at Hillfield. The story of how I ended up on this travelblog site is sort of long and this comment space is short, so we'll save it for another time. Anyways, I taught in Hong Kong for four years, three of those at a Korean school and I had to laugh at your blog entries...I have many similar experiences! From a drunk (normally very serious) director who sang karaoke duets with a plant, to the as yet to be determined dishes in the cafeteria, to the Korean barbeque dinners where at least one teacher fell ill afterwards, to the parents who bowed everytime they saw me, and the students who were the most respectful and disciplined I had ever taught! They were better at math than me (which isn't that difficult, I admit, but still...) So, I wanted to tell you guys that I absolutely LOVED traveling in Asia...there are so many cool, interesting adventures to be had there. If you ever want some info on some great spots, or if you'd like some connections with people over there (all legite, honest!) give me a shout. My email is : Leaf_70@hotmail.com Cheers (I can't remember how to say bye in Korean...the standard English one will have to do) Laurel :) |
