Salzburg Castle
Salzburg Castle
You can see this massive fortress from pretty much everywhere in Salzburg.
G'day, much has happened since I last wrote. Currently I am in Tübingen while Kristian is making his was back from München, a 3 hour train journey. Puddy had spent the past 6 days there with Chelsea, a great girl we met while in Salzburg, and again took a visit to our favourite place: The mountain overlooking Neuschwanstein Castle. Its been a bit odd not seeing Kristian for 6 days after seeing him every day for 3 and a half months, when he gets here tonight it will be a bit weird to have a beer and a 'catch up', something [View Full Entry]

Our Day Trip To Slovakia

Still we find ourselves in Salzburg. We came here with the intention of staying for 17 hours, that was 8 days ago. The hostels slogan is even Easy To Find, Hard To Leave. We did infact try to leave a few days ago: We arose quite early and finally made it to the kitchen for the Austrian breakfast that we had heard so much about but had consistently failed to be awake for. After the usual packing and checking out we head off to the nearby train station for the 3 hour journey to Vienna, with our ultimate destination being Krakow [View Full Entry]

Our plans have changed a bit, travelling by train allows you that luxury amongst others. Originally we were supposed to stay in Salzburg for one night and then travel to Budapest but we have now decided to set up camp here for a bit. We will most likely leave Sunday or Monday and then head straight to Krakow in Poland. We had a good couple of days in Innsbruck and caught the train here on Wednesday, it was only a short 2 hour journey. A while ago I commented about not being able to hear if the hills were alive with [View Full Entry]

Awake On A Train
Awake On A Train
This was taken on the train in Switzerland. I would have liked to have been on that boat.
We are back in Austria, there are worse places to be than in a country where Schnitzel is King and Struedel is Queen. We are staying with our friend Kerstin who has been kind enough to put us up at her cool little apartment near the university. Innsbruck has twice been the host of the Winter Olympics and is therefore surrounded by massive snow covered mountains. Even though the temperature is about 20 degrees celcius and the sky is blue and the sun is shining, the tops of the huge montains are still covered in snow. Our stay in Zürich was [View Full Entry]

Hello all. So now we are in Zurich. Very beautiful place. Our hostel is right in the heart of oldtown which is really handy. We walk outside and are surrounded by resturants, pubs, clubs etc. Although we have to walk up 5 flights o stairs just to get to the reception and then another 2 to get to our room. Ordinarilly this is just slighty annoying but at 4am when you cant see past your nose this becomes a problem. We cought the train from germany to switzerland and the original reason for wanting to come to zurich was that we [View Full Entry]

Hello, we are now in Zurich. We spent the last few days in Tübingen hanging out with Anja and her friends, relaxing and generally enjoying what the little town had to offer. The day after the barbeque Swedish and Frenchie had to head back to Oxford which was a shame because they were both such great girls. It was a bit of funny situation because Swedish spoke English and Swedish (and can read Spanish), Frenchie spoke French and English, Anja spoke German, French and English and Kristian and I speak only English. So English was the only language that we could [View Full Entry]

Hello all, as Kristian said we have been having a great time with a few of our friends from the Oxford Backpackers: Anja, Asa and Kathy. We affectionately referred to the latter two as Swedish and Frenchie. Below are photo's from our adventures through Southern Germany and elsewhere. [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone. Well today is our last full day before we depart for Zurich tomorrow. What a truly fantastic time we have had here. I have always had a love of castles and Germany has alot to offer. Whenever on the train heading from one point to another we will often see one overlooking the nearby town. In the last post John mentioned the Neuschwanstein Castle. Dear god it was truly a sight to see. It was a shame that it was never completed on the interior because of his premature death but you could still apprectiate the parts that where [View Full Entry]

We now find ourselves in Tübingen in South West Germany, quite a lot has happened since the last entry. As I said (I think) the day after the last entry we were headed for Neuschwanstein Castle, the castle that Walt Disney modelled his on. We went out with 3 Americans we met at the hostel. The Castle is in the town of Füssen which was 2 hours by train away from München but worth every minute of the journey. The castle was built by a guy called Ludwig II who was the king of Bavaria and pretty much crazy. He was [View Full Entry]
