Mid 50s old hippie living in Texas. Travel with my sife of almost 35 yrs who can put up with me. We love latin america and the caribbean and mostly travel to satisfy my NEED to DIVE. Wife doesn't dive but she loves to snorkle and birdwatch so there's almost always plenty for her to do. We both love nature, seeing different animals and plantlife is a big part of any vacation for us. We're a bit past hitchiking and hostels and prefer more expensive lodging, if for now other reason than, we can't get off work for long vacations so we can spend more to travel. A good vacation for us is 2 weeks...a great one is 3 weeks. I want to be a european when I grow.....they're all like 3 months 4 months..Bad jealous there.We're doing 15 days in Costa Rica in Jamuary 09, so that'll be my first adventure in blogging. Please be kind to the newbie

This is my first effort at blogging and I'll apologize for any inadvertent mistakes. It's really not so much a blog as a trip report, so, with that, I begin. We flew from Houston to San Jose, picked up a car from Budget, and drove to Casa Rio Blanco Eco-Lodge near Guapiles. This makes for a nice break from the San Jose-Puerto Viejo trip....about 2 hours from San Jose. Interesting factoid, we managed to get out of San Jose by driving through Heredia without going back into the City from the airport and it was fairly easy. No one seemed to be able to give us instructions, but we set the rented GPS (OK I'm a sissy) on Heredia until we got to where we could set it on Guapiles and avoided mucho mucho traffic.
