Roma at night Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
Pizza and gelato. Rome is my true love. After enduring countless forms and errands for the new passport, I headed back to the hostel for a well-deserved nap. 2 refreshing hours later, I was napped, showered and ready to hit the town! haha So I went for a nice walk and saw lots of stuff. Started at campo di fiori, then piazza navona (angels and demons!), trevi fountain, the pantheon, piazza di spagna. saw about 5 obelisks (think washington monument, but older). and for those of you who have read angels and demons, the dove at the top doesn't point west [View Full Entry]

Moving Along Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
well after getting a wee bit side tracked this morning with the loss of my passport i am slowly getting back to normal! after going to the embassy, photo shop and polizia station to fill out numerous forms, getting pictures taken and filing a police report, i finally emerged to a thunderstorm. so i figured i'd take it easy and use the internet for a while and get a real update on the go. So Sunday in London was great, went out first thing in the morning to the British Museum. I found myself a little bored, because after going to [View Full Entry]

well i'm officially an idiot. i forgot to put my passport and birth certificate back into my money belt. so of course on the metro some guy pushed me and his buddy reached in my pocket and grabbed them both. i chased them but of course they got away. now i don't exist so now i have to waste my day getting my passport replaced. UGH. i think i attract trouble. at least no money or plastic got taken - that would have been a real pain. i must be off to the embassy, had to print of my flight details [View Full Entry]

Just thought I'd get myself a little more excited by dusting off the ol' travelblog... it's wednesday night, and i've got one more study day, exam friday morning, then off to london friday night, for an early saturday morning arrival. I think i've got everything done (I always forget something)... Gotta fly through Halifax on the way over - hopefully no weather or terrorists get in my way. Then 2 days in London, 4 in Rome, then 3 more in London and back home Sunday night. zorastrian@yahoo.com if you want to drop me a note. Hopefully i won't be lonely, this [View Full Entry]

Well after an uneventful taxi ride to the airport (well except for jacquelines unrelenting stomach) we managed to check in several hours early and passed the time away before our red eye to houston. Off we went enjoying the in-seat tvs and sleeping for a while. Note about Texas - it is hot. 6am we went for a little walk outside the airport and the heat was unreal. Nearly 30 degrees and full humidity all before sunrise. Back to the airconditioning for us. New York at 2pm was even hotter, and sunnier. We spent 10 mins outdoors and got sunburns. Well this is it, our last day of an amazing trip and experience. We lazed around a bit this morning since it was kindof misty and cool out. Plus our flight isnīt until 9pm so we had 10 hours to wait before heading to the airport. We headed back down to the Florida pedestrian mall and bought some more crap (read crap as souvenirs haha), and then made the trek up to the National Congress since we hadnīt stepped foot north of the avenida 9 de julio yet. Very impressive old buildings lining a nice square with a nice plaza to [View Full Entry]

We got up this morning to be greeted with pouring rain and cold. Sad times. So we put off going to the zoo to go shopping. Little did we know the shops donīt open until later on Sunday. So we had a nice wet walk down the pedestrian mall but then it started to let up so we figured weīd go to the zoo after all. Surprisingly, the zoo was great! (after we waited half an hour when it was supposed to be open 2 hrs before...) Time doesnīt mean as much anywhere else in the world as in North America [View Full Entry]

We made it back to Buenos Aires after a few nice quiet days in Uruguay. We both love this city and are glad we left lots of time at the end to see everything. So our homecooked pasta was excellent the other night. Onions, peppers, ground beef, some spices from the hostel cupboard and pasta was tasty. And only a couple of dollars. It rained all day Thursday again so we sat inside and played about 200 games of crazy eights, some scat and yahtzee. Then early Friday morning we were up before dawn to head down to the bus station. Well we are struck indoors today. There has been thunder and lightning and showers on and off all day. We managed to get a quick walk on the beach before it started to rain too much, but it was too cold to really enjoy anyways. But the lightning was pretty cool to watch, just not in the rain and the wind! Thereīs not much to do in this town. We managed to find a different restaurant open today. Itīs so expensive here! We had the cheapest things on the menu (I had the two hamburgers and fries deal, Jacq had pizza) [View Full Entry]
