A Hot New Artist in London
A Hot New Artist in London
Interesting, that they're just promoting Breakaway and Kelly here ... this album is over a year old. Anway, good to see a Texas girl do well.
It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood! Good morning. Been a few days since my last blog entry so let me catch you up the last 3 days. I’ll warn you now hang on to your seats, because this is going to get exciting. First some cultural differences with the U.S.. I had 17 shirts, 2 pair of pants laundered for a grand total of ₤65.00 that’s $112.74 at today’s exchange rate … time to start getting good at doing my own Laundry. Gone are the days of taking in shirts that don’t have to be dry-cleaned because I’m too lazy [View Full Entry]

I know what you're thinking, damn James was HOT back in high school. The ladies never complianed! ... of course they never talked to me that much either :-) That's my brother John graduating, in case... [more]
Back in London (Address Included) This is a short post but with time some information that if abused will be deleted (my address and phone number). I move into my flat tomorrow which as good fortune would have it is only about 1/ 2 mile from my hotel, so it shouldn’t e a painful move. In fact, since I carried all my stuff from the airport to the taxi, I’ll probably just walk. If any of you have a desire to mail me stuff (love letters, naked pictures of Charlize Theron, money etc.), my new address will be: My land lady [View Full Entry]

The Chunnel Train
The Chunnel Train
Never been under the English Channel before, it looked an awful lot like every other railroad tunnel I've been in before though (just kind of black out the windows)
Les Miserables, Not Only French Drama Last Week! Good morning family and friends, it is time for another update from the this side of the Atlantic. The Eurostar is really nice way to get from London to Paris, it’s quiet comfortable fast and in First Class they serve a pretty nice meal. Plus it’s a train so you can get up and walk around whenever you want. Plus it comes in at Gare du Nord, which doesn’t mean anything, but it’s fun to say Gahr-doo-nord (try it!). Paris truly is a beautiful city, and all in all I had a great [View Full Entry]

My Old Man Said Be a Chelsea Fan! ... or so the song goes. They were, of course, referring to the league leading football team. I, however, am referring to my new flat!!! Ideally located in South Kensington/Chelsea. For two weeks I've been saddled with the responsibility of searching the city trying to find places that fit within my bosses budgetary ideas. The nicer the place, the worse the location. I thought I had it all figured out last night with a nice 2-bedroom place only one stop off the Piccadilly line, I was filled with emotions of “it aint good, [View Full Entry]

Rome a Pictorial History!

My first daylight view of rome!
My first daylight view of rome!
If you wonder why the glare is so bad, my window didn't open. I had to position the camera to not show the bars. Right now your saying ... "James that could be anywhere!" but wait!
Ciao Roma! Let me first address a couple of your comments on my Rome post. First of all (Jan) I take no shame for spending a night in the hotel in Rome. It was 10:00 before I was at the hotel and done with some work that my boss expected, couple this with a long meeting early the next morning and it simply wasn't feasible to find a hike. To the question (Jen) did I hook up with any "dirty street walkers?" I say look at my first comment ... they simply weren't in walking distance ...and trust me I looked [View Full Entry]

Beautiful Roma

 Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
Lowered Expectations Ciao Amigos ... wanted to give a quick update from the center of western civilization. What can I say, so far it pretty much ... hmm? ... sucks! That is not to belittle Italy or Rome which are surely fascinating places. But this is my first time here, and my flight was delayed. Then when I got here I found out the Sabre office is in Rome like Grapevine is in Dallas, like Poulsbo is in Seattle, like bakersfield is in LA ... in case I've missed anyone that's about 30 miles out of town and I'll never get [View Full Entry]

Piccadilly Circus by Night
I don't know why but I just like looking at the lights here or in Time Square.
And We're Walking, We're Walking! Hello and happy Monday to you all. Coming out of my first weekend in London, all things considered I did pretty well. Lots of sight-seeing, a fair bit of drinking, and not an insignificant amount of discussing politics with a mixed American-English group at a pub. I’ll start by saying that I must have walked for over 3-hours everyday this weekend. I don’t have to, the tube will take me close to where I need to be, however, I’m loving the exercise and even have managed 2 runs (12 miles), not great but not too bad. [View Full Entry]

Hey James, What's London Like? Good morning friends family and anyone else reading. This is going to be another post kind of skimpy on content, so I'll spice it up with a few pictures. My most common email question is, "how is London, is it exciting?!" Given that I have an hour commute to and from work, and that I've been working a bit late, so far I haven't had much exploration time. Next week I move to the Millennium Glouceser hotel which will cut my commute in half and it is in a more exciting area of London. For you [View Full Entry]

Hop on the Tube
Observe the locals

High Expectations & Jet Lag Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening, this will be short post because I don't have much new to report yet. I remember being excited about taking the tube to work, this excitement is morphing into boredom as you stare idly into blank faces avoiding eye contact at all measure. On Saturday I'm changing hotels to one about 20 minutes closer to work which will be nice. Dolphin Square is nice enough, but it's not really convenient to anything of interest and if shopping is close by, I can't find it. This morning I met with my new [View Full Entry]

Picadilly Circus
Picadilly Circus
For those who think I made the whole London thing up!
I Feel Strangely at Home in London Hello everyone, I made it here with no major issues. I didn’t get business class, but it still worked out okay; I got my own row in coach and snagged 4 pillows, wrapped them all up in a blanket to make one normal sized pillow. Right after takeoff, I drank a glass of red wine, put on my snazzy new noise canceling headset, listened to an audio sedative (Air Supply an Chicago), took an Ambien and laid down. Apparently I slept through dinner and breakfast and we were on final approach when the flight [View Full Entry]
