| 23rd July 2009 Lily Trinos | Group Excursion - From: Leo's Leisure Park Hello! My fellow Arellanites, Class '67 are planning a reunion at your site on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. First, are you open on Sundays? Some questions: 1. I know visitors are allowed to bring in food, but do you also have a restaurant on site? 2. What group size would you be willing to give a group rate? 3. Do you require a reservation for a large group? If so, how much time do you require to make the reservation? 4. How much time do you require to reserve villas? I would appreciate hearing from you ASAP. I am based in San Francisco, California |

| 20th June 2009 Richard Brooks | Mt Arayat Park 1977 - From: Trekking at Mt. Arayat The last time I visited Mt Arayat Park was in 1977. Myself, my girlfriend and two other couples had gone for a day excursion from the Clark Air Base/Angeles City, area. I remember a swimming pool, a small sari sari store and walking on one of the trails that led up the mountain. About the time we were getting ready to leave, there were a group of older Philippino men sitting and drinking at some tables and chairs near the store. As we walked by, one of them said to us, "One day we will drive you Americans out of our country". He was quite correct, that actually did happen in 1991. Mag beer muna tayo, pare! |
| 3rd June 2009 rlndrkza | World famous "Pahiyas Festival" - From: Pahiyas Festival in Lucban Being a Lucbanin by blood or by choice we should grateful that our town became overwhelmingly popular. I think this is the cause and effect in a economic standpoint and truly not commercializing in a negative way as what other say its too commercialize. But rather this annual thanksgiving celebration put our beloved town of Lucban on the map in a global scale. Once again, we should perhaps embrace the progress that is radically shaping our [used to be a sleepy] town of Lucban with open mind and enthusiastic collaboration for further improvement of this festival. |

Yes we are proud to showcase to the world the beauty of the festival but do you know how most Lucbanins are indignant to the organizers, the local government of Lucban who are using the festival for their own, selfish motives? Corrupt as they really are but not the Pahiyas which is and should be solely a religious event. The pahiyasfestival.com is there to showcase the Pahiyas, both sides of it, the beauty and the filth so the people may know how and what the Pahiyas is really all about. |

Rodastco or Angel Star? I called 732-6891 and someone who says he's from Rodastco answered. I called 783-0886, and I talked to someone from Angel Star. Rodastco leaves at 7pm, while Angel Star leaves at 9pm. Which among these is more convenient in terms of waiting for RoRo's and is less of a hassle overall? Thanks!!! :) |

| 4th November 2008 desiree | Zoobic Safari is worth it - From: Zoobic Adventure I heard of Zoobic Safari thru a friend and browse through the net on how to get there...we were on board a private car we left manila 730am...we were at balintawak exit at 8:30 am..travelled through the NLEX ..we exit at DAU...then through the newly opened SCTEX which made our travel faster and more convenient..then we exit at subic-Tipo finally we reached the Freeport zone at 10:30 am..we ate at Reyes Barbecue before proceeding to Zoobic Safari which by the way is still far away about 30 km from the Petron Station...we arrived at Zoobic Safari 11:00am ENTRANCE now is 395/head which includes the tiger jeep ride..we waited for the tour guide after few orientations off we go...the tour is divided into 2 parts...the walking tour and the drive around tour...Zoobic Park, Serpentarium,....then on board a Zootrain( 50/head not included in the 395) we went to the Savannah, Tiger Safari( on board the tiger jeep price included in the entrance..if you want tigers to follow you you must pay P200 for chicken feeding)..then finally Animal Muzooeum and Croco loco... We finished the tour by 1pm but we watched the aetas show which took 1 hour...we went to Butterfly garden at 50/head entrance...we planned to go to Ocean Adventure but the rain poured heavily we decided to go back to manila and visit next time....We were 3 in the family...we spent 5,900.00 on entrances. food, gasoline, and the toll fees plus my daugther's tiger souvenir worth 1,500..Its a pity I visited this site just now...It shouldve spared me the time of surfing so many sites for reviews.. I posted to help update on prices |

Thank you very much and more power... |
| 12th October 2008 Tony G. | Mt. Arayat - From: Trekking at Mt. Arayat I drove to Mt. Arayat yesterday on my motor bike, had a really nice ride getting there with my girl. When we arrived at the park the advertized price for entrance was 30 peso, seemed fair so I drove on in. The actual entrance fee I was charged was 30 peso for my filipina friend and 100 peso for me, which was not posted and seemed a little suspicious to me but what the heck its only 100 peso. I wanted to climb the Mountain as high as we could safely using my GPS to assist us. I asked where the trail started and I was told I need a guide which will cost 1000 peso and was not allowed to climb unless I have a guide walk with us, which I refused because we are capable of climbing on our own and is more enjoyable without a guide, then they lowered the rate to 700 peso but it didnt matter because the excitement of climbing the mountain, is doing it on our own. So on we went to explore the area below where there were swimming pools to play in, videoke, very small waterfall and a run down playground for children. We relaxed poolside when a girl asked us to buy a chicken BBQ for the price of 500 peso if we liked, my girl didnt seem interested so we declined, after my girl had enough of the bug / ant bites we decided to leave. As we got on my motorcycle the girl that asked us about the food stopped us and said what about my tip for being my guide? I thought she must be joking since she did not guide us at anything and I said when we arrived I did not want a guide, but she was serious. So like a good sport I asked how much, she replied with the common "Up to you?" This went back and forth with her and my gal a couple of times when my girl got agravated and gave her 100 peso. The bottom line of this trip in my opinion is the employees at this park are doing this tourist site a diservice to tourism for the Philippines it is one of those sites that I was excited to go see but due to the experince we had from the time we entered the gate to the time of leaving we felt unwelcome due to the employees persistently trying to take full financial advantage of anyone not filipino. Eventually this attitude if not cleaned up will have an impact on tourism and they will suffer the loss it always comes full circle when gone unchecked. Its a shame but may tourist locations here in the Philippines are this way because there is no oversight or bad oversight by the department of tourism. Its terrible to make such pleasant places, so unpleasant that you never want to return, all due to a few bad apples hustling pesos and gouging prices for their own personal gain. Needless to say I will never climb Mt Aryat and will never visit there again. I like to visit a tourist attraction happy and excited and leave feeling the same way, but in Mt Arayats case I went there happy but left rather disappointed and sad the employees there have to suck every bit of fun out of the experience. Just my opinion |

| 30th September 2008 anonymous | - From: Zoobic Adventure GO TO THE ZOOBIC SAFARI BUT DONT STAY AT THE ZOOBIC SAFARI LODGE(CROWN PEAK TIARA). THE HOTEL IS VERY OOOOLLLLDDDD! AND DIRTY! THE ROOM IS FULL OF COCKROACHES AND SPIDER... KADIRI! AND ALSO, THE STAFF THERE IS NOT KIND... |
| 30th September 2008 zheena arizala | WARNING: zoobic safari and crown peak tiara package - From: Zoobic Adventure Hi! I got an offer from JANA (marketer fr zoobic safari) P2999 for 6 pax. PAckage includes ticket to zoobic safari for 6, one free night accom at very OLD and dirty hotel CROWN PEAK TIARA, 50% off voucher for hotel accom. and some other freebies... I was so happy bec I tot I got a great deal for my fmly to enjoy. So, our family went to subic to enjoy it. When we check in, we present the vouchers (for free accom and 50% voucher for our 2nd night), we were 4 adults and 2 kids (bec. the package was for 6 pax). GRABE, THE ROOM WERE SO DIRTY, WE SPENT THE FIRST NIGHT KILLING COCKROACHES AND SPIDERS UNTIL WERE SO TIRED. MY GOD, THE NEXT MORNING MY DAUGHTER HAVE A BIG "PANTAL" COURTESY OF COCKROACH. I TOLD THE FRONT DESK, DEDMA LANG... On the 3rd day, we're checking out, the front desk CHARGED US FOR 1200 FOR THE TWO OTHER ADULTS. THE FRONT DESK CLAIMED THAT THE ROOM IS GOOD FOR 2 ADULTS ONLY & 2KIDS, SO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE OTHER 2 ADULTS. REMINDER... I PURCHASED THE PACKAGE WHICH IS GOOD FOR SIX PAX... NOW THEY CLAIMED THAT THE ROOM ACCOMODATION IS ONLY FOR 2 ADULTS AND 2 KIDS. OF COURSE, AT FIRST I WAS HESITANT TO PAY, SO I TRIED TO TALK IT OUT WITH THE FRONT DESK, BESSIE & MARJ (STAFF OF CROWN PEAK TIARA) BEC. I REALLY REALLY DONT KNOW ABT THE EXTRA CHARGES. THEY BOTH SAY, OK MAAM, WAIT LANG PO., CHECK PO NAMIN. BUT GRABE... THEY LET US WAIT FOR 1 HR AND AT THE END THEY STILL MAKE US PAY FOR IT. THE ZOOBIC SAFARI IS GREAT BUT THE HOTEL IS A BIG MISTAKE! ALSO, "MADAYA" AND "MANLOLOKO" ANG MARKETING DEPT NILA. THEY GAVE YOU OFFERS WHICH WHEN YOU AVAIL, HAVE SO MANY HIDDEN CHARGES... SO, I LEARNED A LESSON TO BE SURE WITH WHAT I PURCHASED, I SHOULD BE CAREFUL IN CHECKING THE PACKAGE INCLUSIONS. BECAUSE MANLOLOKO ANG ZOOBIC SAFARI CROWN PEAK TIARA PACKAGE OR SHOULD I SAY, JANA THE MARKETER FOOLED ME !!! OH GRASP.... |
| 26th September 2008 anonymous | - From: Trekking at Mt. Arayat doesn't sound like one to me, too. |
| 24th September 2008 Tom | run down - From: Trekking at Mt. Arayat I went to this resort in August and indeed it is extremely run down and expensive to use. It has a couple of pools but not much else. You cannot see the mountain from here and they charge more for foreigners which is a complete rip off. The whole place had a feel of bygone days. The hundred steps lead up to some long grass and not much else. |

| 15th June 2008 Mifuyu | Our summer vacation - From: Subic Outing we were supposed to stay at camayan beach resort (also in subic) but, unfortunately, it was jam-packed.. so we headed off to all-hands beach resort. it was pretty cool and quite clean. we definitely had a good time here.. entrance fee is 150/head and the cheapest nipa hut big enough for 10 people (i think) costs 1,500 on weekends.. there are also "tables" as substitutes for the nipa huts or pavillions. they're much cheaper.. |
| 13th June 2008 Colinne | Kasaysayan ng Pahiyas Festival - From: Pahiyas Festival in Lucban I need tagalog information. PLEASE. If you can, as in right now. I really need it. PLEASE. | 26th May 2008 rhein | frustrating - From: Grande Island we had our management outing last saturday in grande island. we were excited because the pictures on their websites were pretty. but the moment the ferry reached the island, we started to get disappointed. the beach was not good and it smells like oil and garbages can be seen as well. the staff are "suplada" and they really have a poor customer service. the food and drinks are very expensive.when i say very expensive tlgang sobrng mahal sya..its triple the original price..what i liked there was the room and shower but bitin ang mga channels sa tv kahit nka autoprogram na..we will never let our friends experience what we experienced there... |

| 20th May 2008 fred | Avilon Zoo is the best in the Phil. - From: A trip to Avilon Zoo I visited Avilon Zoo on 5/17/08 and I am convinced it is the best zoo in the Phil. Avilon Zoo has an excellent range of animals and world class facilities. The place is highly recommended for everyone. The only sour note is the street leading to the zoo owned by another company needs lot of improvement. However, the talking Myna bird, the cute young orangutan, feeding the huge arapaimas, looking at a white crocodile swimming, seeing a Tapir for the first time, taking picture with an eagle on one hand and an owl on another, will surely make the trip worthwhile and memorable. More Power to Avilon Zoo! |

| 30th April 2008 Ganni Z. | SERVICE VAN FROM MANILA - ROXAS - From: Boracay by RORO Thanks for this very informative posting....... we're planning to have a vacation this middle of May 2008 and we are planning to take the RO-RO from cubao. But we cant get in touch with the Buses information. Thanks and we got the contact number of the private vans. Spoke with two van operators; Angel Star (02 783-0886 c/o Abner) and Gope (02 732-6891 c/o Cesar). Their Vans can accommodate 15-18 pax per trip from Manila to Roxas (Php600.00/pax net). Since we are ten in a group, we requested them to pick us up here in our place at Philcoa and its ok with them. The Van leaves at 9PM daily from Manila-Batangas-Calapan-Roxas (arrives Roxas at 5am or 6am) to catch the 8am(?) or 10am boat to Caticlan (12nn (?) or 2pm) with fare of Php 330.00/pax. Before going to Boracay Island, be sure to get your return ticket (Roxas-Manila) at the Caticlan Ferry Terminal (try to know the sked from their staff). so, better have your dinner early and bring some foods and water along with you. Have a nice trip to the Paradise Island of BORACAY........ Enjoy! |

P600.00/head for a van trip to Batangas Pier then to Roxas then you need to pay another for your fare from Roxas to Caticlan. According to Angel Star, they only leave for Roxas once a day, 9pm. ETA at Caticlan is 12nn the following day. Trips from Roxas to Manila is daily also at 1pm only. According to the dispatcher I spoke to, make sure you book at least 2 days before. Booking must be made at their Roxas terminal for trips going back to Manila. For more info call (02) 783-0886. Hope this helps. |

| 3rd February 2008 Geir | Mt. Arayat - From: Trekking at Mt. Arayat My fiance and me went to the park yesterday. And was suprised to find they had 2 different admission`s fee.One the 30 peso for my fiance and then 110 for me.And they try to charge us 500 for tourist guide.I was telling my fiance that we would leave the place at once, but she is kinda stubborn and would never pay more than 2 times 30. Which we did... and no tourist guide too.In my mind the place was worn down and could benefit much more maintaining.we went for a walk in military camp and talk to one of the military guy...when we was talking ito one of the guy in the camp civilians away...and my fiance complain about what those civilians did to us.....that they was charging me a lot because i was foriegner and then those civilians stay away from us after we talked to the military guy and they did not charge me for the pay parking in mount arayat park..which we found out its free parking....my question is ...Is that the way of treating a foriegner to be charge a lot of pesos because those people reasons its a foriegner??? |

| 20th May 2007 Cherrilyn | Just came back from Culion May 2007 - From: Exploring the Calamianes (Palawan) I just came back from Culion Palawan in May 2007. My mother was born and raised there. And this is only my second time in Culion, the lfirst time when I was 14. Its been 19 years since I was there. This visit was not for pleasure unfortunately. My mother died and I know this is the place she would want to be buried. I came to Culion to bury my mother there who died at early age of 56. It was a tought trip I tell you from Phoenix Arizona. I took a 16 hour flight and once we arrived to manila had to catch the Super Ferry immediately (walang oras magpahinga) then another 12 hour Ferry Trip then once we arrived in Coron, we took a 2 hour Bangka trip to Culion. I brought my american husband and child (age 4) who never been to Pinas before. We were exhausted of course by the time we reached our destination, 30 hour total trip! My husband and I were impressed with the people in Culion. They are pure-spirited and very hospitable. The people there still have that innocense that has no maliciousness. When they become your friends, its not fake like the people here in America or in Manila. Unlike America, walang pakilamanan ang mga tao dito, hindi katulad doon, masaya paligi ang mga tao. People in CUilion live a simple life yet they are happy. They only have electricity ony for 12 hours out of one day and water only comes once a day. I only hope this past election in May 2007 the government will finally give Culion a break and give them 24 hour electricity and more water supply just like Coron has. But Coron is a tourist island who has some tourist investors who probably demand 24 electricity and more water. Culion is a still a virgin island, thats was so beautiful about it. It has its historical Cathedral sitting on top of Culion front, beautiful beaches. I inherited 8 hectares of a beach in CUlion by the way. Anyway, Look at Culion. No one is homeless there, everyone has there own bahay kubo. No one is hungry, as long as you have rice, you can eat fish or manga and you can eat. I havent found a single malnourshed person or child yet on this island. Unlike America, we have so many homeless people. My husband met a man named Ray, who was my mothers childhood classmate, he spoke good english and shared a San Miguel beer with my husband. This man, Ray said "there is no way you can convince me to go overseas to any country, not even to live in Manila, I love it here in Culion, everyone knows each other here, walang pilipino naglolokohan sa isat isa, we all help each other here in Culion. Life is simple here Ray said but I see and spend time with my family everyday, people arent fake and morals of people here havent been tainted by american morals yet." Ray left an impression on my american husband. Its true we have bigger homes in America and maybe better food, but friends you meet here are really loyal and true to you, and 50% of all marriages in America end in divorce, having dinner with your family is a luxury here, you spend your whole fuckin day working. You work, go home, work go home so you can afford to live here in America, theres so many bills to pay you feel like your imprisoned by your own job. My 4 yr old child cant leave the house here in America becuase neighborhood kids here have maliciosness and dont even care to play with her, you cant leave your child outside to play in park becuase we have the sickest people here in America (dito na yata tinambak lahat ng sira ulo) becuase there are sex offenders who live next door (why dont you check the sex offnder website and put in your zip code and see for yourself how many listed sex offenders you have living near your house). Your friends here dont really care about you here in America, when your in trouble you know who you real friends are...When my mom died, not a single friend came to my rescue, how sad is that? Anyway, in Culion, they would wake up by 4am and by 5am knock at my door to wake me up to serve me breakfast. And they had to travel half a mile to bring me this breakfast. I was so touched. Has anyone here in America or whatever country your in right now, ever made you feel that welcomed yet? No huh. Ray said, happiness is a choice you make. It is isnt it? Its how you view your life the way it is, sometimes we think the grass is greener on the other side, only to feel to empty and lonely once you left your hometown. My mother was a great woman, she traveled to 30 different countries but she always had to visit Culion. This is where her heart is, this is where she felt at home. When I first visited Culion as a child, I couldnt appreciated it becuase it was no luxury living probinsiya style. Now that Im 33 and I visited Culion for the second time, now I see why my Mom loved this place so much. I returned to Phoenix Arizona just 2 days ago, I feel like I left my heart somewhere. Though I appreciate this nice big house I live in, it feel doesnt have the same aura I felt in Culion. There is a saying I would like to end this with. "A chair is still a chair whether someone sits in it..but a house is not a home unless there is a real family in it." |

| 19th April 2007 marky mark | hello guys - From: A trip to Avilon Zoo hi! avilon zoo is a really nice place for everyone. hundreds of different animal species are exhibited there, rare and local animals alike. but they don't have the big mammals yet but you will still be amazed and mesmerized by the natural beauty of the zoo especially the intricate design of some of its architectures designed by the owner himself, joaquin gao. i can tell you all these things coz i used to work there as a tour guide for about a year. but much better opportunity comes my way to work abroad so i have to leave this paradise which help me to gain my confidence and thought me how to appreciate these beautiful creatures that now i can use on my present job abroad. i really miss the zoo especially the friendly staff and my fellow tour guides. guys i miss you so much.....how i wish i can go back there for a vacation right now. so all of you guys out there who doesn't experience the avilon mania yet, i tell you to go out there, face your fears and live your wildlife dream safari. thank you so much and i promised that i will be visiting you guys out there soon. |

| 12th October 2006 Brian Shoebridge | it's really good - From: A trip to Avilon Zoo I went almost 18mo ago and thought it was great. Better to have fewer animals done well than another SEAsian disaster zoo. I'm going back around December. This zoo would be a worthwhile tourist attraction in any country, but it is hard to find. Foreigners should get a taxi from Marakina or Quezon City. Offer to pay meter plus php100 if u want one quickly. Else it is Jeepneys and then a trike for the last bit. Up to you how local you want to go, but go you should!!! |
| 9th October 2006 bonnie | latest schedule update of ferry boat - From: Boracay by RORO To : all management roro shipping Pls. | 14th January 2006 danjulie03 | - From: A trip to Avilon Zoo avilon zoo was worth it :), your pics are lovely! although the tours aren't free anymore (except for the 9am and 2pm one), the tour guide is worth getting just to talk about the different animals, plus to show you how to get around (they are still making a map of the place!) but it is worth it. the animals are well kept and most are out during the day ... although the lion looks like he could do with a bit more weight :), as a whole, i would recommend it highly too! |

| 1st January 2006 mango | Rating: Very Good - From: A trip to Avilon Zoo I liked it. :) it wasn't perfect and it was raining the day we went there, but overall it's better than other zoos i've seen. :) hehe, if only it weren't so far from manila. :) but the place is really big, and they have a lot of really cool animals, most of them really rare. :) i would recommend visiting it, but not on a rainy day, cause some of the animals might be hiding in the cavelike structures and you'd probably miss them. :) |
