First impressions are that I'm going to have a wonderful experience here. The school I joined is nice and the other teachers are all very friendly and laid back. Of course teaching is a new experience for me and there will be a leaning curve.I'm teaching all ages from kindergarten up to fifth grade. I forgot how ene http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6744.html Reunited Almost So much to say and so little time to say it Once we get settled we will try to be more diligent in writing but the past two weeks have been a whirlwind I have been finishing my job as an instructor and advisor at USF finishing my school work in my master's program finishing writing USF's SACS report don't ask packing my apartment up without a job searching for a job and missing Jen every http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Florida/Tampa/blog-6745.html Waiting in Busan Well we finally got Jeremy a job. On what was supposed to be such a great day of departure my alarm failed to go off at 430 and I snapped awake at 646 AM. My flight was to leave at 759 AM and I live 30 minutes away from the airport. To boot my car was not loaded up. I called my friend Lisa who was supposed to take me to the airport to tell her what happened. I http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6747.html First Day Cont. Well Jeremy has already spoken about of first day back together. It was fun working together and the kids already love him. Tonight all the foreign teachers at the school and our directors are going to have a welcome dinner for him. It will be his first time trying Korean food. Today I got on the kindy bus and the kids screamed my name like I was one of the Beatles in their prime. They mobbed me and grabbed my hands. Everywhere Jen goes people ask her if she is a movie star. And for the record even though I feel like a rock star I realize http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6750.html Busy Busy is the word so far. We are busy each second of each day but once our laptop comes Thanks Mom and Dad we will be able to post from home. Quick update though This weekend was spent lounging around for the most part. After almost missing my flight to Busan I got a bit of paranoia in me and didn't sleep very well. I was awake well before the alarm went off and finally rolled out of bed at 445. I took a shower put my bag over my shoulder gave Jen a kiss then headed out into the dark. There is nothing worse than getting up when it is still dark outside. I caught a cab to the Marriott a b http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6753.html The Culture Shock Continues Well Jeremy has touched on most everything that's happened in our lives. The personal space thing is definitely taking some getting used to. Every where I go I get touched. Especially at school. My kindergarten is out of control. They poke me everywhere and when I inquired about it to the staff they told me that is a compliment and they like me. Thanks for the help Teachers day was really ni http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6754.html Life in Korea WebsiteWell I finally finished our website. I guess it all plays out the same every place in the world. My schedule is a bit more relaxed than his. I go into work every day at 1245pm. First I have my kindergarten clas http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6755.html Life in Korea Continues Jen writing This week really flew by. Now that I've gotten to know my students better and I have a better grasp of their abilities time is flying by. I'm really enjoying teaching and I really like my kids. Now that we've had six weeks to get to know each other classes are a lot more fun. When we have behavior problems we're told to stick the children out in the hallway and have them stand up http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6756.html Culture in Korea Alright my turn. First let me say that it finally happened. I was waiting for a bus and a high school kid approached me and said hello. I said hello back and that is as far as it usually goes but then he asked if he could take a picture with me. I laughed and nodded but had to ask why. He spewed some excuse about having homework requiring him to talk to a foreigner and needing photographic evi http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6757.html Cultural Observations Jeremy writingFirst a quick story that relates to cultural observations. The people here as mentioned think we are quite the novelty. They openly stare and talk about us although we have no idea what they are saying. I tend to think they are saying What a handsome couple. Perhaps they are movie stars shooting a new Hollywood film. At any rate another thing they are always amazed by is o http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6758.html Everyday Life Jen writing Well I've had quite a bit of fun scaring innocent Korean people. I did it again at school last week. I was headed to class and my students will usually come get me if I'm not there exactly when class starts. I was at the head of the stairs and could hear them running to the stairwell to come down and get me. I stopped at the corner and jumped out toward them to find that it was one http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/South-Korea/Busan/blog-6759.html Updates Jen writing Well as many of you have noticed and commented on we have not updated our journal in quite some time.
