Home safely!
Good to hear you're home safely, can't wait to catch up. I've thoroughly enjoyed your blog and will miss it terribly after you've written your final instalment. Your exploits have definitely inspired me to make my first trip to the US of A - in fact I'm off to NY for a long weekend next Friday!! xx

What a Time you Had...
Wow!, what can I say, your trip and blogs have been something that was very much looked forward to, I felt as if I journeyed with you, what a writer you are....I know it will take you awhile to digest all that you have seen and experienced, but how fun it will be to relieve it all again through pictures and memories. Memories are the gift our minds give us, so take your time and relieve them all over again with your family and friends at home....Thank you Jenny for the gift you gave Unkin Don and I with your two week visit with us. It is something we will cherish always, and keep in our gift of memories..Tell your Uncle Dave, your grandmother and Auntie T. hello for us. I am so thankful you got home safe and sound, but a bit lonely knowing you are so far away again, but know we will speak with you often....Also, thank you for looking up my wonderful nephew Ben, he is a dear and very special to us as you are...Know we love and will miss you Jenny, but so thankful you were able to make this wonderful trip of a life time. Take care of yourself and until we meet again....Ciao!

Journey's End
Well, I've so enjoyed reading your blogs and sad that you're at the end of your fabulous journey. It's been amusing and interesting for those of us stuck at home to find out more about the U.S. - now we know where, and where not, to go. Many, many congratulations on finishing the NY Marathon and improving on your London time - well done considering all that food and beer consumed over the last few months! Where are you now? Love, Phyllida

Farewell to Broadway, et al
What a finale!!! And what a joy that it won't be a final finale! Your blogs have given so many so much pleasure. Again, you've provided such fabulous photos - I really love the one of old/new Boston. This really has been the trip of a life-time, I'm sure. It is so good to have you back home, though. Looking forward to the first hug!! Talk soon and am already looking forward to the new blog. All best love as ever, Auntie T. xoxoxo

back to blogging
I have set up a non-travel blog seeing as so many people enjoyed this one. I haven't posted anything yet but will send word when I have. Reckon it's a good means of motivating myself do to fun stuff at home and get my camera out more often! Talk to you soon - probably from Seattle?

Looking forward to the next blog!
It's good to know you are back, safe and sound, but I was dreading not getting any more of your amazing stories and photos. Knowing that you will be sending more in the future makes my day. You've had an amazing time - so much living and learning in five months - and now it's back to the reality of everyday life in England. It's so strange to leave a place that you've loved so much, get on a plane, and realize that that experience is now just a memory, out of reach, but always there in your mind and heart. God bless you, lots of love, AMags xox

Great travel blog!
Well done Jen, I enjoyed your blog - photos were fantastic! Alanna

Eh up
Hey Jenny, It's been a week since you pasted your last blog and I'm only just reading it now - I'm going to miss these as they're like my little treats at work that I can only read when i've finished writing that report or typing up some notes! I think you should keep writing them even when you're back in Blighty, you've got a really lovely way of weaving a story and painting a picture with words (and with pictures as well of course...). xxx

Good luck
Just thought I should wish you luck for the ferry crossing! xx

Cape Cod etc
What a trip you are having!! I've always had a yen to visit Cape Cod and this has just reinforced that yen. Sounds to me that going off season is better than braving the huddled masses in the summer - also, you get all the beautiful autumn colours. Loved the Cape Cod house!! They are so pretty. Your journey to Hampton for the half sounds like the journey from hell - and back! You must have been so frustrated. Although I am the world's biggest non-fan of Hallowe'en, all the pumpkins look so lovely and cheerful - brightening up the autumn days. You've given us some more really beautiful photos again. Thanks so much. Love and hugs, as ever. xoxoxo

Nantucket it must be!
I had been torn between Nantucket and MV - but always drawn to the former. That I could visit Helen's Auntie Honor is the deciding factor!

Nantucket
Oooh - go to Nantucket! It's ace! My cousins live there (maybe the only resident islanders with geordie accents!). My Auntie Honor works in William Welch Gallery on New Street I think - pop in and say hi! Love and pumpkins xhx

T'is a blessing to have such good friends as Alex
Thanks, Alex. I know it's hard to believe that I am so disorganised, but alas, it happens. I'm not sure I want to risk yet another ferry disaster. Reader amusement or not...

Take the ferry- it will make for continued amusing reading...

Needlework store...
Think I am headed back to Boston for a couple of days. Can't really see it all in one day. And I will seek out the needlework store. I must admit I am having more fun driving the rental - don't have to worry about crashing it! The insurance is so expensive that I almost feel obliged to use it! I have turned into a boy racer though, this car seems to have a much more powerful engine....

Clive/Jaunita
Clive just sprung to mind. And then I started to think about it, and he's clearly not a Clive. Too funky - especially with the bass - for that, and Juanita popped into my head. Pamela is a little confused. But probably because I keep ignoring her instructions. I swear she was about to throw her hands in the air and scream 'I give up, do it your way, see if I care' the other day....

Thank you?
No good deal on Betty Boy. I'm a dunce when it comes to selling cars. Oh well, better luck next time. And I'm starting to wonder if I should just keep on with a blog - keeps you all up-to-date and appears to entertain people!

camping in New England
You're more like your auntie than you may have realised! We creature-comfort-loving gals need to stick together. I am most definitely NOT a camping fan and so deeply sympathise with you. However, it did give you plenty of opportunity to photograph all those beautiful trees - and I love some of the angles you used! Your mum and I often talked about the two of us visiting New England in the Fall, to see all the gorgeous colours before decamping to Boston to visit - most importantly - the 'best needlework shop in the wolrd'. Never did find out its name or whereabouts in Boston it was - I was relying on your mum! Now an unrealised dream but it sure would have been fun! Sad to see the last of Betty Boy - no more wonderful anecdotes of your wacky driving - it won't be quite the same with a hire car, even one called Clive. Hope the training is going well - you certainly looked fit up on top of Ol' Smokey or wherever you were. Lots of love for now. xoxoxo
9th October 2009

Welcome Clive!
So where did you get the name from? And how is Pamela finding Clive?
9th October 2009

Thank you!
Thank you so much for persevering with your hike, inspite of your awful cold. If you'd given up, we'd never have had these wonderful photos, nor the images of you living under canvas and having stroppy-fits in the parking lots. Sorry to hear that Betty Boy has gone (hope you got a good deal on him), to be replaced by Clive/Juanita with the pounding bass. I hope you soon find out how to turn it off. Good luck with the marathon on Saturday, and have a wonderful time in NYC! I'll be sad when your trip is over, because there will be no more 'jennyintheworld, USA 2009' epistles to read. But it will be good to have you home, and more accessible on the phone. God bless and take care! love AMags xox

USMC
Semper Fi indeed! Guess I am party of the family. It's a great feeling!

USMC
Jenny: I am so glad that you got to experience the Marine Corps Museum and you got to see the flagpole that we spoke about. There is no such thing as USMC overload! You have always been and will forever be part of the Marine Corps family. I can tell from your blog entries about the Marine Corps that you feel "it" and "it" is very hard to explain to others. Keep it close to your heart always. Semper Fi, Uncle Cliff.

Dresses and stuff
Indeed, I can't imagine that law is enforced! Certainly wouldn't want to be the one to do it! As for the dress, yep, you know the one!
