Well, I am very excited to report that I am writing from the Galapagos islands! It is sooo surreal being here, after studying about evolution and Sir Charles Darwin himself at university... We just finsihed an 8 day boat cruise aboard the Amigo, a cute boat that took us around various islands. It is hard to describe what we have seen because it has just been so amazing, but i will do my best..! We visited several islands (most of the names escape me at the moment so i wont try to list them!) but it was amazing to see how the vegetation and animals varied from island to island dependig on their geographic location. We saw, of course..looots of sealions (i think i have about 100 photos just of them..haha), sea turtles, galapagos penguins, lots ... read more

Hello from Ecuador, South America! We arrived in Quito on the 10th of November, which is a whopping 2850m above sea level! Needless to say, Kristen and I felt a little light headed and drunk-like the first day or so due to the altitude. We stayed at a really cute place called Hostal Villa Nancy in the new town (Quito is divided into the new town and the old town). Although we were staying in the new town, which is very modern like and boasts many trendy looking cafes and restuarants, we definatly took a day to check out old town, which is the historical part of Quito that has all the chapels, churches, etc. It was absolutley gorgeous, and such a contrast from the new town. We spent the day wandering around checking out the ... read more

Hola! Its time I got back to blogging... last time I wrote we were in La Fortuna, with the possibilities of checking out the hot springs and volcanos. Well, we did both of those, which was very cool! We went for a hike through the rainforest (and it was, you guessed it, raining!) and managed to see toucans, white faced monkeys and howler monkeys..we then went to check out valcano Arenal, which was a bit sketchy...there are signs telling you to aim your car at the exit in case there is the need for a mad dash, and there was also a sign that said there was a maximum stay time of 6 minutes but it had been blacked out...apparantly if theh volcano decides to erupt (which it could at any moment!) you only have 9 ... read more

Hola from Costa Rica! Just wanted to keep you all updated on everything that we have been doing so far! We arrived in San Jose on the 28th of October and stayed with Kristen´s friend Krista...my poor travel buddy Kristen though was still feeling very ill when we first arrived...some talking with her family doctor back home led us to the revelation that she had E.coli...the poor girl was not doing so great, BUT..with a few diet restrictions (BRAT, anyone?) KT has been feeling better and we have had some awesome adventures so far! Krista, Kristen and I headed to the Carribean side of Costa Rica to catch some sun and surf at Puerto Viejo..this little hippied out town right on the ocean. We relaxed for a few days, enjoyed the Carribean Sea and the laid ... read more

Hello from Hong Kong! Well, actually I lie when I say that as this post is long overdue and we are not actually in Hong Kong anymore...haha, oops. Our stay in Hong Kong was 5 days only (we were there on an extended layover on our way from Vietnam to Costa Rica (where i am now and just had the most insane day filled with white water rafting...but more on that in the next blog!) but we still mananged to do quite a lot, as Hong Kong itself is not that big. Unfortunatley, Kristen was not feeling too well when we first arrived so our first few days were a little quiter, but like I just said, we still managed to do quite a bit! Hong Kong is a series of islands, and we stayed on ... read more

Xin Chao! ....or for those not familiar with the Vietnamese language...hello!!!! We arrived in Ho Chi Mihn City (formerly known as Saigon), in southern Vietnam, last Wednesday, the 15th. The title of this blog refers to the song that we sang with the cabbie that took us from the airport to our guest house...haha.. HCMC is a place where Kristen and I were millionaires..haha..their currency, called the Vietnamese Dong, is distributed in bills so large, 100 CAD is approx. 1.5 million VND....crazy! Understandably, USD is the second official form of currency... Anyways, enough about that! The city is crazy crazy busy..there are more motorbikes/scooters on the road than cars, for real...we took a video one afternoon at traffic lights..and you just wouldn't believe the ... read more

Greetings from Thailand! I apologize for the lack of photos..they will follow soon, I hope! Thailand has been amazing! We arrived in Bangkok almost 2 weeks ago now (hard to believe..!). We spent our first few days in the city of Bangkok, exploring and taking in the culture! The food has been spicy spicy spicy and the shopping has been cheap cheap cheap! Its dangerous, actually...haha..We have "hit up" a few markets since being here...there are stalls by the thousands and it is easy to get lost! It is really funy bartering with the Thai merchants though, and they are really friendly and very funny...a favorite saying is something like..."you like? cheap cheap just for you! special discount!" haha... Kristen and I met up with my boyfriend Pete, who came from Australia, and we also hung ... read more

Hi everyone! I figured it was about time i got organized and started a "travel blog" so that i could update everyone at once about my travels! The smart thing would have been to do this 3 weeks ago when the journey started, but that didn't happen so you are all stuck reading this one, very long post! Hopefully future updates will be more frequent so that I dont have to write a novel, and you all dont have to get stuck reading it! So, for those of you who don't know the full itinerary of my travels, my good friend Kristen and I (we were roomates our last year at Guelph) are doing quite the trip : South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the Galapagos islands, Peru and Bolivia....phew! We ... read more
