Well today is showing the first hint of sun through clouds for over a week...OVER A WEEK!!!!! NOT happy- I mean come on you don't travel half way round the world, to a country thats famous for it's beautiful nature and beaches AND sunshine....to be confronted with relentless TORRENTIAL rain, and when I say relentess I really do mean relentless- non stop day and night. :-( Being at Ali's was great, we stayed for four nights, but again the weather let us down. It really has pissed me off because she lives so close to the beach and in all honesty [View Full Entry]

AT ALI'S!!!

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Gold Coast
Well...............we're finally at our Ali's!!!!! But...I'll start from the beginning....soooooooooooo we picked up our camper in Brisbane, our Hippie camper!!! It's not too loud, it's white with a few purple flowers on!! Pretty nice actually. When I say camper it's actually a converted van. It's pretty good for what we need though, as Nick keeps saying "it's a very good use of space". lol. Fold away beds and tables and such like. All gets a bit annoying after so long though. We even have a sink in the back!! So yeahh anywayyy, we got our little van and headed upto Noosa [View Full Entry]

Well we have now arrived in Brisbane after 3 days and two nights at fraser island- the largest sand island in the world. The plan was for four geoup of nine or ten people to squeeze in four 4 x 4's and drive ourselves around Fraser!!! Sounds fun huh?! Soo we met our group of eight others on the morning we left. We were lucky with our group and were put with four really lovely Irish lassies who were a few years older than us and had been living in Sydney as teachers for a year and were now travelling Oz, [View Full Entry]

Well, after magnetic island we got a bus further down the East coast to a place called Airlie beach. We had booked a package which includes 2 nights free accomodation at a hostel, a trip on Fraser island (which we're about to do tomorrow) and a 2 night sailing expedition around the Whitsunday islands!!! Soo our hostel was cool, we upgraded to a private room which was a little hut type thing with it's own little kitchen where I cooked spaghetti for tea ooh exciting!! We're getting a bit sick of eating out all the time. It's lost its novelty and [View Full Entry]

G'day guys, Well had another good few days which were a bit more laid back. So the day before yesterday we got a 6 hour bus journey to a place called Townsville. The bus journey wasn't too bad actually. Haha the bus drivers wear these really funny uniforms here with shorts and knee high socks. The Aussies are all extremely friendly...even the bus drivers!!!! But I guess driving a bus down coastal roads is a bit nicer than jammed in traffic in England. Here the roads are really quiet- haven't seen a traffic jam once yet not even in Sydney!! Well....I have always wanted to come to Aussie and here I am and one of the main reasons was to see the Great Barrier Reef!! I think of Oz I think of kangaroos, bbq's (good old barbie) and the great barrier reef. Sooo...cheese as it sounds today really was a dream come true as we went on a diving trip to the reef. Three dives to be exact!!! The Great Barrier reef covers a larger area than the whole of the UK!!!! Apparently you can dive every day of your life and not see all of the reef. It really is [View Full Entry]

Had yet another fab day! :-) Decided to have a day exploring inland. We visited small towns, villages, waterfalls and lakes. The best part was calling off at a national park. We weren't expecting much but it was really cool with huge granite rock formations. The walks were pretty tough though as you had to leap between boulderts and scramble up giant rocks!! The highlight were the wallabies that came to investigate us!! The park was very quiet-we only saw one other group. We were given these pellets to feed the wallabies upon arrival and they weren't scared of us at [View Full Entry]

Welllllll we flew to Cairns a few days ago and our plan is to head down the East coast and see how far we get!! We bought a greyhound bus pass for just over a hundred quid each which basically means you can hop off/on a certain bus at any stop down the East coast!! Awesome!! Soo in Cairns what to do....we decided to hire a car for two days to explore the area. It was cheaper than doing various tours which all seemed very overpriced so we picked our car up yesterday. Not a bad number for the money actually!!! [View Full Entry]

on the way:-)

Welll we arrived in the land of 'Roos and Koalas and we are having a fantastic time!!! The prices are much more expensive than Asia which is difficult to get used to. Things like meals which in Asia would only cost a quid or two here cost a fiver at the least. We're surprised by how lovely Sydney is. It has a very nice and surprisingly relaxing chilled out feel. I thought it would be hectic like London but it isn't at all, theres not much traffic on the roads, people walk calmly they don't elbow you out the way, the [View Full Entry]

Eeek, we set off to Aussie later today!!! Can't believe we're leaving Asia after being here almost FOUR months!! Having mixed emtoions about leaving. Part of me is sad as we really have had a fantastic four months. Asia is a crazy continent, sooo different to anything in Europe and it really has been a unique experience!! To those who are stiull reading my blog thank you and I appreciate your comments and messages. I don't always have time to get back to you but I really do appreciate hearing from you :-) So the past three days have been spent [View Full Entry]
