Day 71 (Tuesday 30/06/09, NJJ) Into the city again in the day. Got the ferry to Taronga Zoo - more great views of the harbour from there. Got the ferry back to the harbour and then the bus back to the apartment. Met Huw and Chris there and we went on the The Regent for dinner. Back to the apartment afterwards for cupcakes and hot chocolate before Chris and Huw went back to her parents again. [View Full Entry]

Day 70 (Monday 29/06/09, NJJ) Bus into the city then we wandered around for a few hours. We got to the Harbour Bridge by 3pm to check in for our bridge climb (our wedding present off Huw and Christine). After the climb preparation our group were out to climb the one of my favourite landmarks in the world. The climb was amazing. We were glad that we'd booked in for the twilight climb as we saw the sun setting and the city lights coming to life from what I think has to be the best viewpoint in the harbour. Day 69 (Sunday 28/06/09, NJJ) Christine had to go into work for a few hours after she'd cooked us bacon and egg rolls for breakfast. Luckily Jay and Huw weren't too hung over in the morning so we got the bus into city. We learnt how dire Huw's sense of direction is so if ever he tells you he knows where to go, especially in Sydney, don't count on it. I was overly excited to see the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House again. We got the ferry to Watson's bay where Christine met us and he fur of us went [View Full Entry]

Day 68 (Saturday 27/06/09, NJJ) Had a lovely shower and used my shaving cream off Christine. Jamie booked our bargain campervan for New Zealand. 4 of us had lunch together. Chris then took me out for my Sydney Hen do - a full body massage, a deluxe facial, manicure and pedicure at Bondi Junction shopping centre. I was so spoilt. She then took me on to a Thai Restaurant for a meal - very delicious! I had a lovely afternoon and evening. Jamie and Huw had a few beers then went out early evening for the Sydney Stag Do. They were [View Full Entry]

Day 67 (Friday 26/06/09, NJJ) Left camp before 10am for drive to Sydney. Saw on the news that Michael Jackson has died. Jamie took me for a short drive to Coogee. On to Wicked Campers to give back the Jolly Roger. Hung around there for a couple of hours until Christine phoned to say she was home I was so excited. We got a taxi to Huw and Christine's place. We sat and chatted. Chris picked up Huw some time after. We had a quiet evening in and enjoyed Christine's delicious cooking. Jay and I were given our Hen and Stag [View Full Entry]

Day 66 (Thursday 25/06/09, NJJ) Cold out. Jay was cold all night. Started day at National Portrait Gallery. Saw the Vanity Fair Exhibition (some of the pictures left me speechless) that we'd planned to go to, walked around the rest of the gallery too. Next stop was the National War Memorial and Museum - this was fantastic. I lost count of the number of times that I had tears in my eyes walking around there as it's so moving. The museum is also one of the best I've ever been too. I looked out for John in the Korean War photos! [View Full Entry]

Day 65 (Wednesday 24/06/09, NJJ) I nearly ran an old man over this morning. I drove the J.R. for the first time and wasn't used to the the pedals, they were far apart as the steering column was where the brake should be but luckily as the man carried on walking I missed him, no accident after all. I knew the exact position of the pedals after that near miss. Drove to Cann River. Decided to take inland road towards Canberra. Passed from Victoria into New South Wales. Saw wildlife along the way. It rained quite a bit, a little depressing. [View Full Entry]

Noooo, rain clouds ahead

Day 64 (Tuesday 23/06/09, NJJ) Jamie slept well in his thermals. He gave me two packs of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups as my birthday pressie - no cards though as agreed. On the road at 10am. Stopped at a place called Traralgon. Walked around town. Had Dominos Pizza for birthday lunch. At Lakes Entrance we checked in to a campsite. Spoke to Mam for ½ hour. Had a lovely relaxing, invigorating birthday shower and I even shaved my legs. Went out for a drive. No restaurants around that we fancied so we had birthday dinner of fish and chips. This was [View Full Entry]

Nearly all gone

Day 63 (Monday 22/06/09, NJJ) Drove to 12 Apostles again to see them in morning light but this wasn't as expected, as it's Winter the sun is not very high in the sky so there were plenty of shadows and it didn't satisfy my need to take beautiful photos. The Great Ocean Road was as its name suggests 'Great'. The scenery is beautiful. Jamie saw an animal as he was driving but he didn't know what it was, not like him, it apparently looked like a giant otter and for a short time I think he'd thought he found a new [View Full Entry]

Day 62 (Sunday 21/06/09, NJJ) Started journey at Logan's Whale Nursery - didn't see any whales out at sea though. On next to the Great Ocean Road. Saw 'London Bridge', The Arch and Loch Ard Gorge. Lunch at van. Fantastic coastline, the waves are immensely powerful and very beautiful. Last stop along the way was 'The Twelve Apostles' although you can't see twelve of them. The afternoon light was not the best for viewing them. Checked into Princetown Recreation Reserve. 5pm left camp and drove the 10 mins back to the 12 Apostles to see them at sunset. The view was [View Full Entry]
