Gabe and Jarrod off on a world-wide trip. Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Morocco, Spain, Egypt, Tanzania, India and Thailand!!!!! Malaria, Typhoid, Rabies, Yellow Fever, plagues, terrorists, volcanoes, earthquakes and lots of friendly people to meet!! Yippeee!!!
So Craig and I left for the Austin Film Festival in Texas last Sunday the 18th of October. We arrived 26 hours later on Sunday night (not a mistake, time zone difference). The night we arrived we got a taxi and were greeted by a red neck woman taxi driver who told us a story of how she recently got mixed up with some guy that had shotgun and got busted in her taxi for owning a drug lab. After a couple days adjusting and hiring a vehicle and the very friendly Texans we picked up our Producer badges today. We also met our liason officer for the time we will be here. Her name is Sara and she has been a delight. Extremely well organised and ensuring we have a great and successful time here

They are only Honda CT110's, otherwise commonly known as Postie Bikes. I am heading off next Sunday on the Spirit of Tasmania with one of my best mates, William Rayner. We have modified our bikes to carry panniers and our swags. Its a lot of weight for one of these little things, but its still going to be faster than riding a push bike..... we hope. Tonight we will go over our route and try and lay down the specifics of the route. There is only one section of great concern, from the North West of Tassie (Marriwah) to the Central East (Corrina) looks to be about 250km. The range on our

We were assured that they would be on the next plane and they would deliver them to our hotel. We were not really concerned and got a pre-paid taxi to our hotel, well within about half a kilometer of it as the driver did not know where it was. Luckily I have been here before and we found it easy enough. Amazingly after checking in to our hotel we walked out the door and along the street and bumped into an old student we had taken on one of our trips to Western Australia. Needless to say we had dinner together and all had a good

However the tea everywhere else is dirt cheap and really good. Out of 6 days in Darjeeling it rained for 6 days. Not that we little Aussies cared about that. We LOVE rain as we dont get enough of it back home. Darjeeling's rainfall for July is around 1600mm. In Benalla (Jarrods home town) the average rainfall for a whole year is around 500mm (although much less in recent years). It was such a relief to step out of the 'share jeep' into a cool climate 'hill station'. Its at the lower range of the Himalaya, and its elevation is at 2134m.

The last blog was just about all the hard times whilst traveling and all of our blogs are always so positive, it was about time we made you all not feel so jealous of our travels! India is a beautiful country and we are having the time of our lives!" A 24 hour flight/transit from Nairobbery to Delhi via Heathrow was welcomed by a 1 hour wait at midnight in Delhi Airport to get through immigration. Although we did not manage to wrangle our way into the business class lounge in Heathrow this time we were rewarded by meeting Dom and Erin (Gabes younger sister and her best friend) at the Baggage collection without any hassles. We collected our bags, then organized a pre-paid taxi to

You only possess two changes of plain clothes to wear for a very long time and at times you have to re-use undies! They get stinky, you have to hand-wash them and if they get a hole, bad luck, you have to keep wearing them. Sometimes you feel so dirty and stinky that you could just sit down on the street, pull out your tin camping mug and start begging along side the locals, maybe then they will stop hassling you. In prison there is a hierarchy, drop the soap and you're not only in trouble, your going to be taken advantage of. Traveling, drop your guard and you’re also about to get screwed. How many times do we have

We both must have put on a few kilos. Thanks guys! A quick 1.5 hour bus ride to Moshi where we thought we would be enjoying a walk around town and get a great view of Kilimanjaro. Neither happened... Jarrod got bad food poisoning and was bed ridden for 2 days (lost the extra kgs gained) and it was clouded over, so no view of Kilimanjaro. Not only that, we read in the paper that the night previous 12 people

We patiently waited whilst the friendly immigration officer took his time to have a chat to each and every passenger in the 200 people long queue in Nairobi airport! Then waited another half and hour for our bags to come through, we then found Judy and Colin waiting for us in the arrivals lounge. Welcome to East Africa! Thankfully we were just in time to catch the early morning shuttle directly to Arusha in Tanzania. On the map its about 250km away and the drive looks like it should be on a well made bitumen road and should only take 2-3 hours. However, we

After many hugs and kisses we all went back to the hostel to get a couple hours sleep. Picked up our Indian Visas- even got a smile from dragon lady. Then that evening we all boarded the 14 hour train ride to Aswan (near the border of Sudan)South of Cairo. Not much sleep and sore bums from the seats ensured that we would all be tired for a day of visiting temples. We only visited two sites that day, the Aswan dam and the Phillae Temple. The dam was a bit of a let down with all the hype and such a tourist attraction. But it did take 30 000 people to Dam the Nile (built in

Quite little town with mostly independent travellers which has a view of Saudi Arabia across the water with Jordan and Israel to the north. Although we have both been snorkelling all our lives and we love the ocean, only 6 months ago we go our open water scuba dive cert. With only 5 dives logged before coming here we knew that it was going to be fun, but we didn't know that they would probably be some of the best dives of our lives. After a refresher dive we did 2 other shore dives around dahab. Down to about 18m and fish absolutely everywhere! Coral that is
