Awesome read
Wow, it just brings back good memories as I look through your bog post. Totally had a memorable time when I was in Sapa (twice) years ago. Great photos too! And what a beautiful title

Thank you..
I'm very happy you enjoyed reading my blog, it brings me much joy when people I haven't met before take an interest in reading about my travels... and thank you even more for taking the time to comment. I will have a look and see what you did on your travels in Asia, as we still have 4 months to go and not too many plans yet! Thanks again.

Thank you
Thank you so much, we sat for about 45 minutes with all these animals here, it was so much fun. If you guys have any suggestions for Vietnam we have only just left Hanoi and are in Ninh Binh now. I will flip back through some of your blogs and see what you enjoyed.

You write to longest sentences I have ever read...
but I find it quite poetic and stream of consciousness appropriate for the subject matter. Are you done teaching in Thailand or just taking a trip while school is out?

Finished in Thailand
Bob and Linda, thank you for the continued support. My mother also complains to me about the length of the sentences and lack of punctuation and sometimes I look back and think it is a bit ridiculous but I really appreciate the praise. At some point last year I began to get bored with my own writing and just thought I would try something different - simply type the ideas in one long stream with minimal punctuation flow straight from my mind onto the computer and then one quick edit. We are all finished in Thailand - Ao Nang was our final stop and now we are traveling for four months through Georgetown Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar. I hope I can start to keep up with the blogs more now that I have more to write about. Again thank you so much for continuing to take the time to follow my blog!

Thanks Gina
Gina, please send me an email and let me know what is going on over on that side of the world. I know there is at least some 'interesting' news there at SVCSD :) and of course I wonder how you are doing also.

Students in Thailand
interesting article I live in Thailand since 7 years and have been teaching at a school. I can feel the mood of this article and a lot of your opinions. This Thai students usually have a very balanced behavior and can take pleasure in small things. I really love them. Unfortunately it is not always understandable what happens with them. What I’m talking about is the way of punishment and how they handle the freedom of expression. I wish you many wonderful days at the school and especially with your students.

Thank you very much for your response - I hope you continue to have many happy days working with the Thai students.

Wonderfully written blog Dan. Maybe expressive writing was more of a forte of yours. Enjoyed this majestic hidden treasure of Thailand. Excluding the snake. Glad there's no picture.

Thank you Diana, I always have loved to write, but there isn't much of a career in that anymore. If / when you come to visit I know Mae Salong and Chiang Dao would have to be on your to do list.

Hey Dan, I really enjoyed this even though Tara had told me about this trip in detail a couple times. My favorite part though although thoroughly grossed out was the swine licking the mans face clean. Thank you for the visuals.

Hey
Hey David, what are the odds man? I'm glad to hear you ended up in a good spot. We will be in Koh chang sometime at the end of the month - I know that is in your neck of the woods. Maybe we will see you then. Good to hear from you brother.

Hi Brenda, I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you need any recommendations for Sabaidee, I would be happy to make some suggestions. Make sure you ask for it not spicy, unless you like your food very hot! We miss you!

Food travel blogs
Yes, Chopsticks is a travelblogger. After commenting on you blog I was inspired to have goy deo lat na with a friend I hadn't seen in 40 years. We went to school and college together and he has been a missionary doctor in Gabon since then. He just happened to be in Colorado Springs so we got together for lunch. Anyway, goy deo lat na has wide rice noodles with a greens and pork in a brown sauce.

Just realized
I just realized that goy deo likely means fried or crispy noodles (as kai deo is fried egg). Then I realized lat na is what I mistakenly thought was pronounced lab na, so you are describing the crispy noodles with the corn-starchy gravy that also includes kale and usually pork. We have a vendor we sometimes get this from. He specializes in two dishes, the goy deo lat na and the pad see ew, and for only 25 thb it is always a great dinner.

I'm sure it was amazing meeting people from so many different parts of the world and getting back together after a long time. I feel like we are just starting to make some of those types of friendships now. I hope you enjoyed the dinner - I will have to try the dish soon.

I grew up on noodle dishes. Next you can blog about the not so watery noodle dishes such as goy deo lat na, which I like better than the well known phad Thai. Now to go to my favorite Thai restaurant in Colorado Springs and have a noodle dish! You need to check out Chopstick\'s blog about Chinese food. This will inspire you to write more about Thai food.

Chopsticks
Chopsticks, is that a person on here? I love reading about new food to try. By the way, I have never tried goy deo lat na... I am going to have to ask to try some. What is it like?
