So... for anyone still interested (probably not many!) we finally got round to finishing off the blog. It all got a bit sidetracked after the last entry due to a positive pregnancy test in Sucre! After that we headed to the Bolivian jungle where we were due to start some volunteering with an organisation that look after pre-school kids so that the parents can work. Mae's morning sickness hit bad and that combined with the intense jungle heat and humidity, and several screaming kids, meant we didn't last long! On one day we were looking after 10 four year olds (9 of them boys!) in a classroom that they were not allowed out of. Probably one of the toughest things we had ever done and made us question if having our own was such a good ... read more

Lots of pics in this one!... make sure you look at the second page! J: Bolivia..... Crossing the border at the crack of dawn (as soon as it opened), still feeling a little worse for ware after an over night bus ride, me still looking like I´d gone a few rounds with a heavy weight and feeling like it too. Our Arrival was like a breath of fresh air, unbelievably! After only a few minutes in Bolivia you could see the immediate change in the people and thier surroundings. It felt like we had actually arrived to were we were supposed to be travelling... For those of you reading this who are Argentinan or have a big affection towards Argentina, don´t get me wrong! ..Argentina was a fantastic, beautiful (and huge) country with very friendly inhabitants ... read more

This is just a quickie to update you on the crazy night we had after we last wrote.... J; Ouch! We left our lovely hosts Scott and Paula with a bang on saturday. The night before on friday had started with Bellinis whilst we prepared the for the arrival of the guests. Scott prepared an obscene amount of meat for a grand total on ten people that would be arriving. Asados seem to be effortless here and they have a great system of having a raging fire to begin with then spreading out the hot coals for the cooking. Its a ritual. The fire has to burn down completely for you to get the coals which normally means your well on your way to quenching your thirst and building up an apetite. The food was ... read more

M: So, it´s been a while since we have written... this may be a long one! After Uruguay, we went to Iguazu to see the incredible waterfalls. Iguazu is where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet, and so I thought it would be really interesting to try to see a bit of Paraguay - no one ever seems to go to Paraguay, it gets left out of the South America tour... so we thought we would give it a chance.... we lasted one day! We took a horrible bus (our first experience of long bus journeys here and we obviously picked a really bad bus company which left two hours late and sat us right next to a noisy air conditioning unit) to the border of Paraguay and crossed through. The difference between the border towns in ... read more

Ham and cheese anyone? Arriving in Uruguay was a welcome reduction of pace from BA. Colonia on the other side of the mouth of Rio de la Plata was a sleepy sunny town, with river beaches and a tourist friendly mind set. Its easy to stroll around it in a day or if you feel especially lazy you can hire a golf buggy and really fly the tourist flag! It was our first taste of hostel life, chatting to other travellers over cheap (but delicious) wine in the cool courtyard as others strummed away on guitars and bongos, while others still cook their various dinners in the communal kitchen as the sun went down. Beds so soft you sleep with your head between your knees but that hardly seemed to matter as the earliest we ... read more

M: We have done so much walking! And seen a lot of Buenos Aires now.... and realised that there is nothing bueno about the air... it is heavily polluted due to traffic. San Telmo district, where we are staying, is lovely though - old cobbled streets; wonderful crumbly old colonial buildings with balconies and shutters in beautiful colours; fantastic vintage cars; and the most amazing antique shops / markets you could ever experience. Today (sunday) is market day here, and one of the main streets is made pedestrian so that it can be lined with stalls. There is also a huge indoor antique market... there are so many fantastic things and is torture for us to restrain. If this were the last stop on our trip we would definitely be filling our cases! We will have ... read more
