Aaaaaaaaaaaaah bliss! That's what it is at the life in Nevada City. I have been couch surfing a bit and have spent most of a lovely week at Joe's house, which was lovely as he is a fellow artist and garden lover. Then spent as much time as possible at the Yuba river or dirbiking. We camped there on Friday and watched meteor showers ate chocolate and drank wine while Colin played his guitar.... I love this river. So sacred and healing and clean and beautiful.......... read more
Well, due to the fact that a server failure happened here at the same time as a hard drive crash happened on our laptop, I now have no pictures from my first few weeks here, which sucks. So no wakeboarding, dirtbiking, salamander holding, small town 4th of July cuteness or lagoon antics are here, a tear slowly trickles down my cheek. So many beautiful pictures.........Nevada city is so cute as is downton grass valley, both old well preserved and colourful mining areas. And the best part is the Yuba river which is absolutely stunning and has many crystal clear pools to swim in, each named after the bridge crossing it (49, Purdens, Edwards and so on). I love the waterfall at Edwards where ladybugs nest and fly down onto you, and Oak tree at Purdens because ... read more
Dirtbiking rules North America » United States » California » Nevada City By iva doll July 11th 2007 Iva JanigaSo yesterday I went for a bike ride into town to take some photosof the cute little houses, then later I went dirtbiking for the first time. I haven't been on a motorcycle since Thailand so it was pretty sweet. We went up roundmountain and caught a great sunset, before heading into town for Nevada City's "Hot summer nights". ... read more
Wow. THis place and surrounding areas (All nevada county and grass valley too) just keep blowing my mind. The people are so lovely and full of life and sense of humour. It is so human after the inhumanity and alienation of bix box store Edmonton society. Every day is a pleasure, and I see something that makes me grin ear to ear. Like the "Special" bus that always has a stuffed witch sitting in the drivers seat when it is parked, or a motorcycle with a little rubber chicken sticking out of the front, or the dude with a car covered in peace stickers that offered us sticker for our car when I stopped to tell him his car was awesome, or signs sticking out by the side of the road that say LOVE (no ... read more
This is my second July 4th in the States. The first was years ago when I was a wee lassie, in North Dakota. We were camping, and everyone in the area produced a stash of fireworks and pooled them in a field. Our dog almost ate one that took too long to explode. This time, i was in Grass Valley, unfortunately, I did not have batteries for my camera during the best parts, and had to run during a break to get some, because it was just too good. True Americana, in a beautiful old unchanged, small town, overrun with old school flags and boyscouts. It was fabulous. While I made the jaunt out to the safeway, where the nice lady told me she had to work every July 4 for 20 years and always ... read more
Decided to add a back entry for my trip to Drumheller. Solo or group trips to Drumheller are always mellow and good for some spirit regenerating, as any desert trip is. This time I went Solo and stayed at a different campsite than usual, which had its plusses and minuses. The minus was that I was in a more touristy area near the town of Drumheller itself and I wasn't in the real heart of the badlands as you can be in some of the more hidden camps along the off roads before drumheller. Those hidden away sites offer much more desert connection and chances for nude sunbathing in the sandblown crevices and such. The upside was that I was right on the river which meant lots of floating and some interesting characters. These were a ... read more
More love for Pai and its various landscapes. Jungle, desert, farm land with waterbuffalo, mountains, rivers....amazing! Too bad I am so burnt out that I cant explore fully, good thing I have my motorcycle to help me with that. I cant even think out a poem....meant to be read humorously and not taken too seriously; Although I love you And every day do roam around your ramparts Im missing home Every day here I see something beautiful I have nothing bad to say it would be undutiful. I think this end is the favourite part of my trip but my stomach ails me and every other day I'm sick so soon I fear, I shall have to return leaving a cowgirl trail in my wake watch my dust burn. But I will come back eventually because ... read more

Pollution cars old city walls splashes of colour the best part, the mountains around town full of orchid valleys and waterfalls Jason and I went to one fall at night (i.e. snuck in via walkin in a kilometre past the gates) and found hundreds of fireflies...Id never seen them before. But all in all minus these pretty flashes, Chiang Mai gets my thumbs down, too hectic and smoggy and grey and car crazy. We are going to Pai! iva... read more
Laos, one of the most magical and beautiful lands I have ever visited. I had the pleasure of spending one month, coming in on the two day slow boat (okay, it was not really a pleasure, the view of the Mekong was specatacular, but being crammed onto wooden benches with 110 people and a motorbike when there was only room for 45 was tough...fortunately the fumes in the baggage/engine room knocked me out and I was able to sleep through part of it) to Luang Prabang, the most beautiful town I have ever visited. palm trees, french colonial villas, baguettes....our guesthouse was managed by Kong, with a huge smile, who invited his friends over for beer lao parties when they sat in a circle and passed around one cup and invited us to join. Sunsets were ... read more
