WOW!!! - From: We Survived
Sounds like a fantastic, dirty, scary, dangerous, wonderful time is being had. To bad school has to be interferring occasionally. Crystal, we are copying your underwater pics and putting them up in our hut. Should add to the tiki atmosphere nicely. Jack asked if you will be back soon as you have been gone for quite awhile. I told him....um...not quite yet! Stay AWAY from crocs.duh!

Good lord you two sure know how to make people jealous. Well, the diving and rain forest part anyway. Can't say that I'm too jealous about the upside down car or how you looked after having to drive without a windshield. What an experience! Keep it up (:

Oh yah - From: We Survived
And congrats Crystal on doing so darn good at the volleyball competition! Oh and for putting up with my brother's shenanigans. And, ahem, I see in these pics there is a fruit bat being fed?! This had better be the one that you've taken home with you in order to prep him for shipping to Jen's House. Thank you.

Awesome. - From: We Survived
Dude, you sang irish songs, and I wanna know which ones! And with the fruit bats eating over your heads while you camped... doesn't that mean they were also crapping on your heads as well? Bwahahah. Oh My God. Your adventure sounds gnarly. Australia kicked your ass indeed. In fact it's more like, Australia 5, Scott 0, because I think 5 points are awarded for not only forcing you to drive with out a windshield, but to bathe in croc infested waters, AND to have a ranger yell at you about it. HAHAH I can totally see you driving around without a windshield and being like "Oh shit, cops.... do-de-do-de-do...Hmmm nothing to see here..." Geez. Glad you're okay. And thank you for the totally hilarious description that made me laugh out loud at work and therefore alert everyone around me that I'm not getting any work done. Punk.

Thanks for the great photos and update. You both look good. Just back from London after visiting Regina and Mike. They're doing great and going into their "short timers" countdown. Her three years at London U. Birkbeck are almost done. You too will be at that point some day. Keep up the good work.

Why are the bats not in a cave? (We read a book where bats lived in a cave) also he wants to know if they are really bats, or foxes? How big are they?

Sorry to be late.... - From: yup, still alive
Hi! Guys!! Just back from a visit to Texas to see the Elliott family, and to be honest soak up some sun, and we're pleased to see a new update. Sounds like great times and the pictures are great. Keep up the good work. Scott, have you heard of "white nose syndrome"? Our bats in the northeast are dying of it at a rapid pace, to the point where people are concerned about the biting insects and other bad bugs this summer. Let us know about your trip to Magnetic Island. I believe there are RCI timeshares there we can trade out for. Our love, Aunt Lu and Uncle Jack

YES PETS in Australia... and Sacramento... - From: yup, still alive
Scott, I must argue against Ms. Catherine Fox's comment... I say start getting some tanks going and nabbing those pets. And while you're at it, next time I see you I'm expecting you to bring me a) a fruit bat b) an aye-aye (i know you're not in Madagascar, but you should get me one anyhow) c) A frilled lizard and I'll name him Ralphie, and tell him that I choo-choo-choose him. d) Vegemite. Yum. e) Oh and how bout a boonie Hat? Do it.

Hi you two...I am so happy you are sharing your adventure. Scott, even though I am more a furry critter type person, I have to tell you, that frilled lizard almost melted my heart. I did see a slight resemblance between the two of you!!! Take good care of each other, looking forward to another chapter in your adventure....Love you both. Mom Vickie

So Scott, Are you screaming at the lizard (dragon) or is he screaming at you? You both look pretty scarey! Your advantures sound awesome. Glad the visit with the death adder was benign today...Doesn't sound like anything I'd like to get acquainted with! I guess you just have to keep your eyes and ears alert and have the ol' faithful "snake stick" ready. Thanks for the pictures. Totally awesome. Nothing going on here...just the suicide flight of butterflies and bees, hitting the windshied. Love to You and Crystal, Aunt Dianna

Look out "Bindi the jungle girl" - From: yup, still alive
Look out "Bindi the jungle girl", here comes Scott and Crystal. We are having so much fun reading about your adventures and looking at your pictures. Here in Colorado we don't have any Jungle adventures so we watch a lot of "BINDI" at our house. Alexis and Trent think she is the coolest ever. Although I have to say you guys are a very close 2nd. Alexis wants to know if you live in a cool tree house like Bindi? ;) Keep having fun and be careful. Lots of love- Teri

No pets in Australia! - From: yup, still alive
Scott, if you were anywhere within reach, you'd be in BIG trouble for talking about collecting animals and taking them home as pets. There's a reason it's illegal to have native animals as pets you crazy fool!

Did he say "rhino beetle"??? - From: yup, still alive
Rhino Beetle!!???? Uhm.....how big do you have to be to classify as a rhino beetle?? Anyway, wow, keep the pics and the blogs coming!! You guys should do some kind of traveler channel report or something..during your "free time" of course. Crystal, love and miss you, but so glad you're there. Hey, let me know if you happen to hear anything in your conservation classes about eco-textiles (doubt you will, but you never know!)

WOW - From: The first snake and more
Eastern Brown Snake! It's the second most venomous snake in the world (or so I saw on a website). Maybe it's important for you to be a little careful whilst traveling around Australia. Crystal is very wise and a trustworthy companion so I suggest listening to her.

BATS!!! - From: The first snake and more
Yeah flying foxes! I'm so excited you're thinking of putting up some feeding stations. Let me know if you need any help, I can send you lots of info! And by the way, you just missed one of our latest updates on sea kraits (exciting I know!) and one of the most important things I learned is that ALL of the world's 10 most deadly snakes are in Australia! So watch it Scott! Don't try to be a herp-superhero ;o) I just got back from Costa Rica with a bottle of Centenario - wish you were here to share it with! Have fun and say hi to the bats for me!!

Glad your posting pictures, they turned out great. You have to get a Picture of a Flying Fox, that would rock! How did your first day go at school? I'm curious what classes your both taking this term. Very cool about the snake, and listen to Crystal... you'll live longer.

Great Photos - From: The first snake and more
Hello from the artic north east. Nothing new here except a few more feet of snow. Think you could send a little of that heat this way? Or, maybe some rain to melt down a bit of this snow? I very much enjoyed your blog entries detailing the adventures you have had so far. It's so much fun living vicariously through others! I could use a few of those snakes to eat the mice and chipmunks that I know are under all of this snow munching away on our spring bulbs. Just thought you would find it interesting that all of a sudden we seem to be getting news about events in Australia. Either that, or I am just paying attention to what has always been there. We heard of the two fishermen who were rescued under amazing odds when they lost their boat at sea. If any one you know is in the mood for skiing we have a minimum of 7 feet of packed snow on the ski trails at this time with up to 6 more feet of snow fall probable before winter is over. Sounds like the California mountains are in similar shape. The only "animal" news I can share with you from Vermont is that people are feeding feeder mice to the owls who are having a tough time finding rodents due to the heavy snow, the little guys tunnels through it. Also, the deer we normally see aren't moving much because they sink too deep into the snow. In fact, people have been told to tie up their dogs or leash them so they don't chase the deer. The deer have heart attacks trying to run away, and the dogs being lighter don't sink in much. The squirrels are entertaining as they feast in the so called "squirrel proof" bird feeders, and get rattled when ganged up on by teams of black capped chickadees. Jack's job of clearing snow off the house and garage roofs has been made much easier as now all he has to do is walk along the berm of snow behind the garage as it is only about a foot lower than the roof. We'll be thinking of you as you start school this week. We're proud of both of you and what you have and will accomplish. Our love, Aunt Lu
