Fun! Sounds like a fun trip. I'd rather go on a road trip than anything else, too.. it's always fun to see what's out there. Thanks- I've never heard of Ruby before. I love ghost towns! I may have to try this trip in a day or two.
You totally should go! And do the loop, not just to arivaca, ruby, and back. Some sites I read said you needed high clearance vehicle, but we were in a Kia soul and had no problem.
Paradise Monica insists we are moving to Hawaii in five years. The island can definitely pull you in. We also saw a ton of chickens on the road. When we went on our sugar fields kayaking tour we asked the guide. She told us that all the wild chickens were because there was a huge storm on the island when all the chickens went free with the goats and the islanders now just let them roam. So awesome!
Heather--yeah it's a class at the University of Arizona. It's pretty awesome that we got to take a fieldtrip and do something hands on instead of sitting in boring lecture for hours:) We only went to that one spot at Wupatki, but I know there is a lot in the region especially as far as archaeological stuff goes--so I'll have to go back! ;)
Wupatki Wupatki is one of my favorite places to visit in Arizona - i've been there a couple of times. Your Dendrochronology class sounds awesome!! Are you taking it as part of a program at the U?
Thanks for the Memories Being a part of your week of momentous occasions leaves me with some of my fondest memories that I've recalled often. We love you both, so much!
WOW! I haven't been back to the midwest since 2006, but all those stops you mentioned are certainly part of our itinerary when we go back, too. Especially Notre Dame!! I went to church at Sacred Heart for the first 12 years of my life, and went to Sunday School at the ROTC building on campus for all of elementary. My dad and all of his brothers went to school there for college. It's definitely a special place in my mind, as well.
Snow Snow is one of those four letter words that are not good said outloud but the scenery is beautiful. Maybe I'll take that hike with you when it's not covered in the white stuff.
