Hello all, sorry it's been ages since my last travel update, just one of those stereotypical "having too much fun doing a whole lot of nothing" excuses. But now upon reflection I there has been much to discuss, so let's get to it! When last we left our crew was spliting up for a bit to have some time to chill apart. When you travel with the same people day after day every minute together you see you need a bit of space, so this was ours. I flew to Bali home of the legendary surf and met up with Marlise [View Full Entry]

When I first set foot in Singapore I was shocked. In a continent where most of it's countries are struggling to survive, Singapore bucks the trend and appears to be an oasis in the desert. Sparkling highrises, savvy metropolitan citizens, high-tech mass transit, yet something doesn't seem quite right, it's just too perfect. We finished our last couple days in Ko Tao diving and soaking up the sun. I love that place and can guarantee that one day I will be back there. On my last two dives I even got to lead two other fun divers as our dive master [View Full Entry]

Imagine your country was home to absolute perfection. Thousands of miles of white sand beaches, vast jungles filled with animals and plants of all shapes and sizes. Imagine your you could eat gourmet meals breakfast lunch and dinner every day, every evening see miraculous sunsets and every morning watch the sun rise over a sea of turquoise. Now imagine that you're too busy to enjoy any of these wonderful features because 20 hours a day, 7 days a week you are catering to the well to do foreigners who visit your country in hordes, devour everything in front of them like [View Full Entry]

It was the kind of clear water I've always dreamed of. Jumping in was like leaping into the world's largest fish tank, as far as the eye could see in every direction were hordes of fish every shape and size. Giant schools of Baraccuda, masses of Trevaly, heaps of damsel fish and giant groupers circling them all. We were diving Sail Rock, one of the premier dive destinations in the world, the jewel of the Gulf of Thailand. A site known for it's giant schools of fish and the occasional apperance of something larger... Already I was having a tough time [View Full Entry]

Dear Thailand Mini-bus Driver, Did you have a rough sleep last night? I only ask because it looks like you're on your third Thai redbull and your hands are starting to shake. I know what it's like to not get much sleep and then have to drive a far distance the next day, tough stuff. Perhaps thats why you seem to be driving our mini-bus at speeds in excess of 130 km/h average. Maybe you don't realize that when you pass on a solid yellow line there's most likely going to be cars coming at you from the other side, maybe [View Full Entry]

Well its a very rainy day here in Phuket, so I thought Id get a bit caught up on this blog as Ive been pretty slow with it so far. I think the reason is since this is my second go around here in Thailand, all the little things that I wrote about the first time are a bit more old-hat this time around. That being said, its still wonderful and exciting, but the second time you see a grotesque ladyboy is never as interesting as the first one. When last we left we were finishing up at Koh Phi Phi [View Full Entry]

Ahoy there! Sorry for the lack of posts in the last couple of days, we're on Island time here and things just seem to pass by and days float like hours or months, but never the length of days. When last we left you we were to board a train to the Islands down south. I had recommended to the boys that we take a train as it's a good way to see the countryside and the seats fold down into beds at night. The day before we were to take the train Scotty spotted a newspaper with a giant gory [View Full Entry]

Greetings! Well we've officially got the best of Bangkok and Bangkok has got the best of us. We're moving on today and happy about it, Bangkok has served it's purpose and it's time to go. We had an absolutely wild jam packed day yesterday that started off pretty messed up and ended up with us pretty messed up. We had booked a group tour to see the Tiger Temple, a monk's temple where they raise tigers and then tourists pay money to get their picture taken with them at giant canyon. In addition we also got stops at the Bridge Over [View Full Entry]

Well, we arrived safe and sound to Thailand last night, I use the word "safe" very loosely. It's a well documented fact that I hate flying, and by hate I mean HATE. Those who know me know that I have a deep fear of death, thus being in a plane that is shaking like a salt shaker at 38,000 feet absolutely terrifies me. Let me not get ahead of myself. We were driven to Seattle by our friend Emily and after a couple preflight cocktails boarded our plane to Seoul Korea. That flight was fairly uneventful but very comfortable, we watched [View Full Entry]

Well, I suppose the countdown is on. The shots are done, the bags are being brought out of storage and I'm getting my traveling legs back under me. This is the first travel blog I've written in about 2 and a half years. Seems like just yesterday that I arrived home from a wonderful tour, now I'm set to head back at it. Some familiar places on the itinerary (Ko Tao, Krabi, Bangkok), but plenty of new potential destinations lie ahead (Ko Phi Phi, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia). The difference this time is that I'm dragging two friends along for the ride, [View Full Entry]
