We re-do Mumbai Asia » India » Maharashtra » Mumbai
Claire arrives in Mumbai on the 22nd so we decided to head up to meet her. It was mad for us arriving and she is on her own. We tried to book in to a backpackers from Goa, we even got the Indian guy to speak Hindi to the guy working there so he new what we wanted. We called back the day before then to confirm we were arriving but they had no booking for us and had no rooms?!? I think they just give rooms away even if they are booked; it's the second time its happened to us [View Full Entry]

Palolem Beach Asia » India » Goa » Palolem
We arrive in Palolem and walk up the beach again to find the right spot for us which we do. Then head for a swim. There is a big rock sticking out of the water and there are 4 people on it. I decide we should head out and join them, hoping there will be a good jump off is somewhere. As we arrive they all leave so we climb up anyway. The rock is actually hard to get on to and I slip off. I felt a tear on my shin and I fell backwards on to a rock in [View Full Entry]

Mumbai and Colva beach Asia » India » Goa » Colva
Our travel drama didn't stop once we got our flight from Jo'berg, when we arrived at Mumbai international we ordered a taxi to take us to our backpackers lodge in Colaba, which is the southern tip of Mumbai. We arrived and the receptionist told us that they had no booking for us and that they had no double room and no dorms. I just stood there and told him we had booked so he should sort something, I was way too tired to go looking for somewhere else havin not slept on the plane. He couldn't find anywhere in the same [View Full Entry]

Colva beach
Colva beach

We arrived to PE late on Wednesday night and had a few quick drinks and a chat before bed. Thursday we had a mission to do a few things before we get our bus in the evening. We get all our bits and jobs done, just and get a lift up to our 5pm bus departure to Jo'berg. Its an overnight bus with business class style seats and costs less than a ticket to cork. Cant really complain. As we are boarding there seems to be some confusion, we do not seem to be on the conductors manifest and she has [View Full Entry]

Coffee Bay Africa » South Africa » Eastern Cape » Coffee Bay
Johney Schumacker picks us up in his bus and drops us off for Coffee bay. It's one of those jumbo transit vans, with the long back and high roof, plus it has a big ass trailer for all the backpacks. The first thing he says before he starts driving is that he knows the roads really well and that it just feels like he is going really fast because the roads are windey but the van is actually limited to 112km/h. Yea right this chap is using all 4 lanes of the bendy motorway, ours and oncomming (when its clear) and [View Full Entry]

...and I'm up

After an early start we arrive at Buccaneersbackpackers in Cintsa. This backpackers takes up one side of Cintsa bay, overlooking a quiet lagoon and a lovely long quiet beach. The backpackers is made up of dorms and doubles as usual, and it has safari tents with double beds and family lodges that hold 10 and more. The trees and bush have grown up around the compound so from the beach you can only see a few roof tops but from all the windows there are perfect views sun filled beach and lagoon. A great little spot and I recomend anyone to [View Full Entry]

The view from our tent

We get in to PE at 7am on the Sunday morning, we seem to keep waking people at this time on Sundays... sorry anyone afflicted... After a well deserved sleep we have our first braii in SA, BBQ on wood embers just so you know. Magic have been waiting for that. At last we get a few days of peace where we have nothing to do and we recharge the batteries. Well deserved and ready to go. We hit Addo Game Reserve today for my birthday (pics to follow, sorry). Then Maeve takes me out for the best steak money can [View Full Entry]

Funny night last night.... We had a lateish one and then at around 5 in the morning we wee woken up to shouting in the dorm attached to our double room. These young Dutch guys had woken one of the lads up in the middle of the night when he was sick the other night, so I decided I better go out and check what was up. When I went out I found Thomas and Mike, the security guard in the room looking a bit miffed. I asked what was goin on, then they filed me in. One of these Dutch [View Full Entry]

Hi again to all, So after a week of partying we decide we should do some touristy things, so walk down to the tourist office and book a red bus city tour. It turned out to be a pretty good day. We stopped off in "Camps Bay" where all the good looking people go and film movies. We had a strole around then went to Nandos for lunch (wow, so good!), then we went tp the Waterfront which is a huge development down in the dock with shops, bars, restraunts etc.. It's one of the big tourist sites in the city [View Full Entry]

So we arrive in Cape town after a lot of traveling, and fun. We had a long boozey flight to Jo'berg. I was up most of the night watching movies and drinking wine, as I do. The only annoying thing about the flight is that some dude got the asile seat and me and Maeve were stuck inby the window. Now normally that wouldn't bother me but this chap decides to promptly fall asleep no more that 30 seconds after sitting down!! So me drinking all this wine have to keep crawling over him to go for a piss. After waking [View Full Entry]
