The room we found is really nice, right on the main street, with a/c and a tv, plus its clean and only $7/ night (after serious bargining). We stayed in bed till mid day taking full advantage of the a/c to keep cool, then I went to the internet cafe to catch up on the last few weeks of the blog. We met a big part of the mekong tour group on our first night in Saigon and we all agreed to meet up for dinner. We went out for dinner then to a bar for drinks before all saying goodbye, [View Full Entry]

From Siem Reap we traveled to Phnom Penh where we stayed for 5 nights. There are a few things to see in the city but the main tourist stops are a visit to the killing fields to see the mass graves which are still not all uncovered and S-21 which was the main base, prison and torture facility in Cambodia for the Khmer Rouge. They were both intresting sights to seeand really explainsin detail what happened in Cambodia during those years. The two champions league semi-finals were on the first two nights we arrived, so we were up late to watch [View Full Entry]

After a short stop in Bangkok our plan was to get in to South Loas by bus or train, when we went to book we were told that the border between Laos and Cambodia was closed because of fighting and that we would have to change our plans. We had planned to spend 3 days on the river rafting to the border then gettign a bus to Siem Reap. Instead we had to the the notorious bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap; every guide book warns of travel agents who sell bus tickets from Bangkok to Siem Reap. The con goes [View Full Entry]

We got back to Dehli and after being hassled and dragged around the main bazzar by guys looking for commissions for bringing us to hotels we eventually found a place. I messed around for 2 hours solid trying to get rid of the viruses on my memory sticks while still keeping my photos. Eventually I got pissed off and left the internet cafe having got nothing done. I was well pissed off and went for a beer in the only bar near the Main Bazzar where we were staying. It went down really well having had very little beer in the [View Full Entry]

We found cheap accomidation in Varanasi and decided to book a few tours with our hotel. We only have 1 night and 2 days so figure its easier to book tours and be shown around quickly. We took a rickshaw around the city for 4 hours and saw the temples and Universities and mad traffic as usual. That night we took a boat ride on the Ganga river to see the sights a night where they cremate loved ones and let the ashes flow down the river. There are a few sights on the Gahts where they burn bodies and we [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Jaipur very late and checked into our pre-booked guesthouse. We had the next day to expolre Jaipur but didn't really find much of intrest. We could have been in the wrong areas but we found nothing of intrest and the only things to do seemed to be expensive rickshaw tours. So we basically used the internet and did some planning for later parts of our trip. I also found out that both the memory card in my camera and my back up both have nasty viruses on them. I can't get photos off the cards and the virus [View Full Entry]

For anyone traveling Goa to Hampi, do not get a bus!! We were told not to by other travelers and the travel agency that we booked with but had no other choice; the trains all book up 2 weeks in advance. Firstly we had no aircon which we had paid for, that wasn't really a problem but one of the drivers smelt like drink and didn't know where anyone was supposed to be sitting. That said, and although we were very aprehansive it all went fine.....untill..... the second driver took over... They must work to schedules or just want to get [View Full Entry]

Back to Palolem Asia » India » Goa » Palolem
So having seen some North Goa we decided to head back to Palolem in the South. It is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in India and we think so. There is a good atmosphere here too and it's easy to get around. Our friends from Anjuna wanted to check out the beach too and will probably follow us down in a day or so. I decide to get some excercise in while I'm here so I rented a Kayak and paid for 5 days up front. I went out for my first paddle on our first morning [View Full Entry]

The saga continues Asia » India » Goa » Anjuna Beach
One of the India women we got to know in Arambol said that her Dad ran a resteraunt and guest house in Anjuna and we should check it out so thats what we did. It looked grand so we stayed. It was right in the middle, both in the mddle of nowhere and everywhere. Anjuna is split in to the beach and the main road in town. We were in the middle, so we had to walk if we wanted to go anywhere but at least we could... Curlies is the place to be on Thursdays in Anjuna, we had an [View Full Entry]

Party time - North Goa Asia » India » Goa » Arambol
We arrive at Arambol beach and find the cheapest decent hut again. It's way down the end of the beach but its nice and should be quiet during the day. I'm really hoping to find a big parties here; Goa trance scene coem on!! Scooters are definitly the way to get around here. They are cheap and give so much freedom. The only thing is there are no helmets and apparently no road rules in India. Generally Might is right, so watch out for bigger vehicles and go around with you thumb on the horn to alert anyone who doesn't see [View Full Entry]
