they unfurled this monster before the game, it was pretty nuts. all of these pictures are from my roomie aaron edwards
ĄFUTBOL! we ended up getting to go to the champions league game last night against fenerbaįhe, a team from turkey. it was pretty crazy. i went to 2 decent games in the states: man u vs bayern munich and usa vs brasil, however the atmosphere here blew them away. estadio sanchez pizjuan was packed and everybody at these games is a fanatic. there are not a lot of casual european soccer fans. the songs that the fans sing are awesome and just about everyone in the stadium sings every word. it was crazy. our seņora used to be a season ticket [View Full Entry]

supposedly the sky is like that because of a sandstorm in the sahara. the other days were clearer.
The weekend was too relaxing. We left Wednesday night and didnīt get back until Sunday night. (no school on Wednesday for Andalucia Day) The first full day was just hanging out on the beach. The temperature was good, but it was too breezy for frisbee. Luckily Brad brought a football which got a lot of use. The food at the hotel was pretty awesome. One night there was pork roast, fried chicken, and steak. Needless to say we ate very well. That night we went to the discoteca in the basement of our hotel which was pretty funny. 7 of us [View Full Entry]

Welcome to the Rock
Welcome to the Rock
pardon the sean connery quote, but itīs friggin huge
So yeah, on Saturday Brad and I went to Gibraltar which was pretty cool. itīs like a 2.5 hour bus ride. the weather was like misting and rainy but it was still really cool. the rock is enormous, it looks so random since there is just flat plains all around and then the sea is flat and thereīs this just massive hunk of stone purtruding up from the flattness. the customs there, since it technically is a seperate country were so informal. i literally did not stop walking as i flashed my passport to the customs agent for a split second. so yeah, itīs been weird being in sevilla two weeks in a row and i kind of found myself missing a lot of stuff from home: friends, family, carpet, taco bell, movies, tv, video games, affordable anything, and stores that are open during siesta, sundays, on time, or late at night. and then last night i went to turn on my mp3 player and it says, in order to continue use, all contents must be cleared. so now i pretty much have zero of my music for the first time since i started actively listening to music in like 3rd grade. there are a bunch of caves in this hillside and supposedly many of the houses are partially inside of them. Our guide also said that 2 discotecas are in the caves too; weīll have to find them next tim... [more]
al hambra, the cathedral, la capilla real, tapas. it was great. al hambra was really cool; all of the history and ornate islamic decoration was amazing. for instance we were in the room where isabel and ferdinand met with columbus before he left in 1492. it was nuts. and the views of the old white-washed neighborhoods were gorgeous. my camera still doesnīt work but iīll be back in march with the fam. and anyways there is no way a camera is going to capture this place. on saturday my roomie, aaron, and i went tapa hopping and to the cathedral and [View Full Entry]

Cadiz is awesome, by the way

 Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Cádiz
So yeah, it was great. I got some pictures but my camera actually broke so these may be the last for a while. The train took like an hour 45 but it was good. there were like 25 people all together which was fun but also busy. we checked into the hostal and then got groceries and had a beach picnic that lasted for like 6 hours. the water was beautiful but freezing! I jumped in a few times just because I felt like i had to. we met some spaniards on the beach that played guitar. they could play some [View Full Entry]

la adventura sigue

 Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Seville
so yeah, i guess iīm going to the cadiz this weekend with like 20 ppl to just chill out on the beach. we found a pretty solid hostel thatīs like 16€ per night which is sick. weīll just go on saturday morning and get back on sunday. the bus is pretty cheap too. Also we 11 of us booked a trip to the canary islands which is going to be awesome. we leave feb 27 and get back on mar 2. our hotel, not a hostel, weīre doing it big this time, is walking distance to the beach and to the [View Full Entry]

there are so many little random curving windy streets. there is pretty much no rhyme or reason to the city planning, actually there just was no city planning
so i played frisbee on friday with a team i found on the internet. it was actually about an hour walk up the river and across a bridge but the grafiti by the riverwalk was absolutely stunning, like some of the best iīve ever seen. so i get there and end up playing frisbee for about 3 hours with 15 natives who speak almost no english. at first i was pretty timid and didnīt try to talk much but everyone was super nice and i got comfortable pretty quickly. my legs are totally shot now because of it but it was [View Full Entry]

wow, we went to an awesome flamenco show last night and it was amazing. i have some videos and pics but i donīt have time to post them yet. we donīt have internet by our house tho so itīs hard. the architecture is just so amazing. iīve been taking pictures of like every other building. our senora is very nice my roomies are all cool and we live right by the rio. at 5pm today iīm gonna try and play some frisbee but itīs a long haul from where i am but iīll just give myself 30-40 minutes to walk there. ĄEstoy en Sevilla!

 Europe » Spain » Andalusia » Seville
Hey everyone! So Iīm in Spain, weird. The flights were fine, a little delay in Madrid. They ended up taking me to the wrong house from the taxi, the seņora that I thought I was going to have was having girls so I got another taxi and now I live Calle Pascual de Gayangos 41, D 1B which is nowhere close to Alex and Laura. It took a while to figure out the pay phones but we left a few messages. I donīt have any prospects of setting up skype yet, i should get a cell phone today though. once I [View Full Entry]
