El Camino 2005 -

in the middle of May my wife Carina and myself (Peter) intend to walk the 900 km from Saint Pied du Port at the french / spanish border to Santiago do Compostela at the Atlantic coast and further to "the end of the world": Cape Finisterra. We are both in the beginning of the 60th and have prepared ourselves for the last year by walking-training (200km in Ireland last fall) and by living according to the diet from "The Danish Weightconsultants"
So, we feel very fit and eager to start.

We intend to keep friends and family up to date by posting reports and hopefully pictures from our trip by using the many InterNet-Cafés along the route.

Please be patient until after May 17th...

ENGLISH: Hello dear friends and fellow pilgrims we have been at home for quite some time now and have been busy to remove the weed from our garden, which had grown higher than our beautiful rhododendrons. And of course I have been busy in the evenings with all the photographs... On www.glunz.dk El Camino ... a photoalbum has been added in pdf-format (everybody has an "Acrobat Reader" from Adobe? Otherwise you can download one free of charge from www.adobe.com) This photoalbum is in "compromise-resolution" in order to keep it below 15 MB - please be patient, it takes some time - depending on your connection-speed and how busy my server is. But on the other hand, it is worth waiting: you get 74 pages of beautiful pictures of the "sunshine-camino" which we experienced. And as ... read more

English: finally we found a computer again in order to send you this report! We decided not to go to Cape Finisterra because of Peters legproblem and Carinas damaged rib and went by train to Bayonne, stayed there over night, made sightseeing next morning and finally: we got really good food again!!! (we are in France!). Then we took a local train to Saint Jean Pied du Port and spent another night at the "dutch" auberge, which we rated as the best on the whole camino in all respects: hospitality, quality, food, cleanliness, spirit (spirit they share the rating with the brasilians). Our car was ready with new windshield, washed and inside the hall... It couldn't have been better. He got 2 bottles of wine on top of the very competitive price for the job. Then ... read more

English: sorry, no translation today - pictures instead of... So in 10 - 14 Tagen...

English: Hello friends we are in Portomarin now and have only 90 km to go to Santiago! We expect to be there on friday (where there is a big celebration with fireworks). Unfortunately this Internet-café has no USB connection and we cannot upload all the pictures we have taken. But we promise that we will not give up before we have found a connection i Santiago! Then we will dedicate a whole section to our fellow-pilgrims of whom we have taken pictures. A lot of interesting people from all over the world, which we have met on the Camino. This time we have preferred the Germans with the translation of Carina's report. We have no coins left for the Internet-machine and hope that you will bear over with us... English: Hello friends, we are in Sct. Martin de Camino now; in a private refugio where we catched a doubleroom - which is a huge advantage because you can unpack all your stuff from the rucksack and spread it all over the floor, make as much noise with your plasticbags and zippers and go with very little clothes in this heat until reorganizing the rucksack again - all things you can´t do when you are together with up to 100 people in one room with very little space between the bunkbeds. My leg is almost o.k. again after an extra day of rest in Leon and we took it easy by only walking 25 km today. Carina promised her "fans" to write a little bit more about why people go the Camino, so here is the ... read more

ENGLISH: Hello fans on camino to Leon, we found an Internet-cafe with the right connections and we decided to do our "job" here in the morning, so we have time for sightseeing in Leon instead of searching for the right Internet-cafe. My leg is much better now after treatment with Ibuprofen Gel and tablets. The day after we could walk 27 km and the day after 32.5 km in baking sun both days. Now we know better. Our friend Kaj from Denmark came with the right diagnosis by e-mail "lower leg´s frontbone inflammation" (direct digital translation...) We checked it by NetDoctor over the internet and it seems to be the right diagnosis. We take it more easy now with only 20 km a day. As earlier mentioned, so do we mmet a lot of interesting pilgrims ... read more

ENGLISH We are almost halfway to Santiago now - even we are slowed down by a muscle problem on Peter's left lower leg for the last 4 days - the first 10 km a day are going fine, but then it feels like sombody has hit me with a sledgehammer... We tried several remedies with short-term relief and today we got some Ibufen-Gel from some friendly Californian pilgrims, which helped momentarily - whereafter we found a pharmacy here in town, where the pharmacist recommended Ibufen both as gel and tablets - so, we have hope again that we can make more than the 20 km in average - all other systems are working perfectly: power, feets, spirit... (hello Californian's: the pictures will be uploaded most likely in Leon, where we expect to find a better connection) ... read more

ENGLISH: Try to imagine: after a long days march we arrive in a big city (Logroño) and then crisscross the city in search of an apropriate internet café where we can upload a new set of beautiful pictures. Asking people in our digital-spanish we finally found one: an extremly loud place with a "Box"-machine without USB - out again to the other side of town, with a drawing in our hands from a student who thinks that he know a place with "real" computers. After one hour we find the place, agree with the manager that I can take out the computer to get access to the USB-connection on the backside and finally the big disappointment, that the acces to the USB / Harddisk was blocked by software... Today we reached a new "refugio" with another ... read more
