4 de juin. Musée des Arts décoratifs de Bordeaux. We went to the museum of decorative arts in Bordeaux today. The home was built around 1775 for a member of Parliament and his family. The home was later purchased by the city of Bordeaux. During the 1950s the home was transformed into a museum. [View Full Entry]

1 de juin. We took a guided tour of Palais Gallien & Site Archeologique de Saint-Seurin. Le Palais Gallein is an amphitheatre from the late 2nd century and the only remaining monument from the Roman city. Le Site Archeologique de Saint-Seurin is a Christian burial ground from the 4th-18th centuries. A cathedral has been built above the burial grounds. [View Full Entry]

30 de mai. We visited Saint Emilion. It is one of the most famous wine regions, as well as a historic town. We took a tour of the city. The tour went through the underground catacombs. They are kept "private" - only tours can visit the underground caves and photos are not permitted. The caves were used in the 11th and 12 centuries... Saint Emilion is famous for its red wines. There were vineyards as far as one could see. At the end of each row of vines there are roses planted. The roses contract the same diseases as the vines. [View Full Entry]

30 de mai. On Saturday Night Bordeaux's football (soccer) team played in the national championship game. 80,000 people gathered at Quinconces to watch the match on a big screen. Bordeaux won the match 1-0 and the city went crazy. [View Full Entry]

29 de mai. When the weather is nice, young people gather at the 'water mirror'. It is a place by the river with a monument and beautiful buildings. During the day sprinklers are on to create a pool, where the image of the buildings and monuments reflect. [View Full Entry]

28 de mai: Musée d'Art contemporain de Bordeaux. This afternoon we went to the contemporary museum of art in Bordeaux. The first room of the museum is an exhibition of light and shadows. The upstairs and terrace displayed several smaller exhibits. [View Full Entry]
