We visited Chateau HautBrion this morning. We saw how they construct the barrels and constantly test the wine for clarity. We tasted their 2004 classic Merlot which is 200 Euros per bottle. They said 2005 was a better year for them and those bottles are priced at 1000 Euro per bottle.... We went to the museum of decorative arts in Bordeaux today. The home was built around 1775 for a member of Parliament and his family. The home was later purchased by the city of Bordeaux. We took a guided tour of Palais Gallien Site Archeologique de SaintSeurin. Le Palais Gallein is an amphitheatre from the late 2nd century and the only remaining monument from the Roman city. Le Site Archeologique de SaintSeurin is a Christian burial ground from the 4th18th centuries. On Saturday Night Bordeaux's football soccer team played in the national championship game. 80000 people gathered at Quinconces to watch the match on a big screen. It is one of the most famous wine regions as well as a historic town. We took a tour of the city. The tour went through the underground catacombs. They are kept private only tours can visit the underground caves and photos are not permitted. The caves were used in the 11th and 12 centuries... Saint Emilion is famous for its red wines. It is a place by the river with a monument and beautiful buildings. This afternoon we went to the contemporary museum of art in Bordeaux. The first room of the museum is an exhibition of light and shadows.
