Had a great last day at Disney today with a laid back visit to Hollywood Studios. Beautiful sunny weather and our favorite rides and attractions. We even experienced our favorite attraction, Tower of Terror, twice ! Thought I'd also attach a pic of me coming back from the " Comfort Station" at the Fort Wilderness RV Camp site where we are staying. Kind of reminds me of church/girl scout camp going down the road to shower, etc. I'll use the shower in Stormy in a pinch, but the campsite bathrooms are usually roomier! We take off for our return trip home in the morning and will stay the night at "Camp Gulf" in Destin tomorrow night. Can't wait- a heated indoor pool and hot tub awaits us! Bye for now, Mickey.... read more

We've had a couple of days at Disney now with not much time to Blog. Monday was spent at Epcot Center, our fav Disney Park, and today was the Magic Kingdom. We were just here this past July with the family including Jeffrey and our 3 year old Great Nephew, Blaise. Had such a wonderful time with them, but it is fun to have an "adult" viist too. We spent the days at our leisure doing what we wanted to do and just shook our heads and felt sorry for all the parents with tired, crying children. Visited all the "Tomorrow World" attractions at the front of Epcott yesterday morning, including a crazy fast ride on the Test Track race cars and spent the afternoon at the "World Showcase" in the back of the park with ... read more

It has been several days since I have had the opportunity to update you all on the status of our adventure. Those of you who know Cynde are probably wondering if I am among the living - having been on the road now for NINE (count 'em, nine days) days and moving around the southeastern United States in a 28 foot motor coach. Let me say that I am indeed alive and well. Although I have learned a few golden rules of traveling with my wife - Rule #1 - if it is Cynde's idea, it is great!; Rule #2 - if Cynde didn't say it, it ain't so!; and finally, Rule #3 - it's Cynde's way or the highway - literally! As long as I follow those three basic rules, all is well in the ... read more

We've had a great few days in Destin enjoying Henderson Beach State Park and the local sites. Wish the weather had been better but we did see some glorious sunshine yesterday! The beaches here are just as spectacular as you could imagine- white sand and beautiful blue water. Sunsets on the beach are the best. Today we took a day trip on Scenic Highway 30A with the highlight being a trip to Eden Gardens State Park where we toured the historic Wesley homestead, a mansion built in 1897 by a lumber tycoon surrounding by 600 year old live oak tress and gorgeous camelia gardens. Check out some of the picures attached. Tomorrow we head to Orlando for some fun with Mickey! Being the Big Kids that we are, we can't get this close to Disney World ... read more

After three great days in Destin, it is on to Central Florida and Disney World in the morning! Our route will take us across the southern panhandle and down into western Florida. It will take us about seven hours of driving to get to Disney late tomorrow afternoon. Believe it or not, Walt Disney World actually has an RV Park!!! It is on the grounds of Disney's Fort Wilderness, so it should be really great! We will be there four nights before we will start our journey back to OKC. Thursday was spent browsing the antique stores and of course eating sea food. It was still unseasonably cold for January in Florida, but we braved the frigid temps and managed to make it to the beach in time for the sunset. Watching the sun set over ... read more

Had a wonderful but Cold day in New Orleans yesterday centered, as you would expect, around food! Tuesday night we had Shrimp Etoufee and Shrimp and Okra gumbo at a local seafood restaurant and Wednesday started with Beignets and Cafe Au Lait at Jackson Square followed soon thereafter by Muffalettas at the Central Grocery Store, the creator of the muffaletta. We headed to Destin afterward for a rainy drive to Florida. Found a great seafood restaurant (oops, food again) to share a combo plate with oysters, shrimp, clams and fish. Yum!! This morning walked to the most amazing white sand beach ever, still cold and windy, but the view absolutely magnifico! Getting ready to head out to see what we can find. There is a National Antique Festival going on so we will fit some antiquing ... read more

After a morning spent in New Orleans, we made Destin tonight around seven. On the way into town, we found a great local retaurant located directly on the beach. We shared a great seafood platter along with beer and wine. The final approach to Destin was tedious! We had 40 miles of bumper-to-bumper traffic and stop lights about every half mile. Still, it was great to finally make it to Destin. The rain had continued, but the temperature was finally comfortable in the 60's! Our camp site (or parking spot for Stormy) is great. Just a few feet from the beach, very secluded and private, yet right in the middle of Destin! The park was an old family estate that was deeded to the State of Florida on the condition that it be used as a ... read more

I awoke to day three of our maiden voyage to the familiar sound of rain gently falling onto Stormy's roof. I listened closely for the dreaded "ping", but quickly determined the maisture was indeed only rain! Our intention was to head south for our first trip, to escape the cold and hopefully get some sun - I even brought snorkeling gear! I guess I am forever an optimist! As Cynde has so aptly discussed, we have yet to find warmth or sunshine. But a cold rainy day of retirement on the road still seems much better than heading to the office! Our first day on the road began at 2:30 a.m. on Monday. I couldn't sleep and it was really cold, so I woke Cynde and coerced her to moving her slumber activity to the coach. ... read more

Believe it or not, we are trying to outrun an ice storm as we are leaving Shreveprt this morning. Had a fun But cold time in Shreveport yesterday at the Louisiana Boardwalk shoppes and restaurants. Caught the new Tom Cruise flick, Jack Reacher, to get warm. Had a great meal at the International Buffet at the Sam's Town Casino and Kenny even walked out $80 richer. We were planning on staying in St Francesville tonight but have decided to roll on to New Orleans where it looks to be much warmer and drier. Can't wait to see the Big Easy again. It's been 34 years since we were there during our Grad school days at LSU. Aaayeee!... read more

We're on our way (finally) ! After a week's delay due to our son, Jeffrey's, unexpected Gall Bladder surgery, we're on our way to Shreveport, LA and then on to Destin, FL. Spent the day yesterday loading up Stormy, the Motor Coach, so we could get an early start today, and, boy, was it early ! We planned on leaving orignally about 8 am but that got moved up to 4 am, and the reality, was 2:30 am ! For those of you who know my husband, you'll know why. He is crazy ( yes, this is the same man who restored our 1907 Mesta Park home basically single handedly, built an inground swimming pool by hand with a shovel and a wheelbarrow, and built the cabin at our country place) with boundless energy !
