| 5th August 2008 Elizabeth | !!! - From: Going Home welcome back to the US !!! once I'm back at JC (in 10 days now) I'll check out your pics--we're still on dial-up here, you know... |
| 17th July 2008 Elizabeth | dvd regions... - From: Kigoma and the Return You do know that Africa is on a different DVD region code from the US, right ? Thus it is possible that your dvds won't work here in the US--your laptop can switch regions a certain number of times but then eventually it'll get locked into a region code and you can't unlock it...Just warning you... |
| 17th July 2008 Elizabeth | ferries... - From: Driving to Kigoma Well, remember how everything runs on time in Europe except the ferry we wanted to take...good times :) |
| 12th July 2008 Elizabeth | hmm... - From: Wandering Around Mwanza First of all, that woulda really pissed me off, the museum situation...en plus, do you know how Cadbury is actively screwing over its employees/workers in I-don't-remember-which-African-nation-because-we-discussed-it-in-anthro-a-few-years-ago ? Yes...just thought you should know...if only I had more information to tell you there... In case you haven't figured it out/assumed, I am home in the US now...feeling like total and complete crap. I hope that you are doing better...bisous |

| 8th July 2008 Toryyy | hahahhaha: - From: Happy Saba Saba? this is a great post i love it. "attracted slightly more attention than usual" loll relax = research? HA mixing languages? lol should i start digging my rusty spanish out of the cobwebs of my mind just to confuse you back? :P (actually, confession: french is awesome and i wish i could learn it. but i'm afraid it's getting late and i might as well at least hold onto spanish so all those years including crazy AP class don't go to waste...) aww sunburn...it has been "isolated" or "scattered" thunderstorms ("whatever" that really means) in jersey for what feels like forever now and i want some beach weather to roll around...then i can work on my own sunburn. err..tan. :D yay for blogging distraction! haha. i want to try to work on mine more, make it substantial lol. (see fb) not that anyone receives emails about posts from me haha... |
| 7th July 2008 Tory | keeping up the commenting tradition :) - From: Sukumaland and Lake Victoria 1. every now and then i still miss dancing.. i should probably get involved somehow at penn. if i'm not too horrible that they don't let me. hahaa. 2. ah man...the lake sounds soo nice... 3. rock climbing reminds me of my vacation to canada, even though we weren't really rock climbing per say, we did a LOT of hiking and some of it was very steep.. i'll have to show you pictures someday (to explain better) if you're curious. they're amazing - the canadian rockies are gorgeous! |
| 4th July 2008 Tory | lizards - From: A few more days in Mwanza haha...thanks to my animal behavior class, i'd venture a guess that the males are blue and red to attract the females.. :P |
| 4th July 2008 Elizabeth | I forgot... - From: Happy Birthday America...African Style So I forgot that today was the fourth...it's no big deal here and the fact that a friend/fellow intern was leaving was far more significant... I can't believe I'm leaving this place next Thursday ! It's crazy because for so long I was craving a bit of home but now I feel at home here and I love working at the museum...I miss people back home but in many ways I want to stay here... So there was a reason I was gonna comment, aside from forgetting the fourth, but I don't remember... Take care ! Bisous ! |
| 1st July 2008 Tory | ecology - From: Mwanza, Class #1 it sounds good enough to me. but i do not think i am an authority on anything close to the subject lol |

| 24th June 2008 Tory | time does fly. - From: Tanzania-Cameroon, 0-0 ..even for me just working here in princeton nj! :P soccer sounds like funnn.. i remember the italians were crazy into it all too |
| 15th June 2008 Elizabeth | I know what you mean... - From: Tanzania-Cameroon, 0-0 Granted, sometimes I feel as though I've been living here for an eternity, but especially lately, with my internship, time really has been flying. I have about 25 days left here and it's depressing. I went out with Sandra & Christelle on Friday and they tried so hard to convince me that I had to stay here. It was cute, I'm not a big Springsteen fan, but Sandra kept singing "Born in the USA--but stay in Fraaaance" to me...she wants me to stay next year and rent an apartment with her. I told her that I could only do that if she's gonna pay for everything for me--rent, groceries, my plane tickets...I kept trying to explain to them that I can't stay--I still have another year back at JC to get my Bachelor's, then I absolutely HAVE to start on my Master's or I won't get a job in the US (or anywhere, for that matter) doing what I want to do, plus, the major reason--IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN EUROPE !!! All the same, they kept trying...And I've been rather depressed this weekend realizing that some of my friends here I will probably never see again...I say "some" and "probably" because I did manage to catch up with some friends I hadn't seen in YEARS while living here this year... I'm glad that your enjoying your time down South (I can say that bc we're in the same hemisphere and I'm somewhere north of you)...make the most of every moment because it's gonna hurt like hell to come home. |

| 7th June 2008 Elizabeth | ... - From: 1 Week in Africa so I pretty much expected the results of these two lists...and I hope that you're truly enjoying your time in Tanzania...work is going well, I love my job, I just hate the commute...and the summer programme students have arrived and announce their presence constantly--I mean, who locks their bedroom door every time they go down the hall to the bathroom ? yeah so I kinda am not liking them a whole lot right now...but work is good...and I'm currently out of the red, which is good...Missing Rachel though...she left last Monday... |
