I thought you had been reading the blog all the time! At least you found it now anyway. I think it probably does beat commuting, although I'm eyeing up the possibility of an even longer train journey after the New Year... :-s

I went there with Leyla! Except the morning we went it was raining and cloudy, so you could maybe 20ft out, literally just white clouds everywhere, we had no idea there were so many houses down there haha

Yes it did! In fact I was pretty surprised when I got out of the airport to find 'China' so commercial and Westernised. Having just flown for 11hours to get to Asia, I wanted Asian food but simply couldn't find any really. Still, once I got to Wuhan I realised that HK was a little different (although I still have Shanghai to visit....)

HK for the win!
Looks like you saw quite a lot of Hong Kong considering you only had a few hours there. We went to that zoo twice, it's so good for a free outdoor zoo! Did Hong Kong create a falsely glamorous and upmarket impression of China for you?

Hi Sarah! I've just been reading through your blog, as I too will be making to move to Wuhan at the end of the month to teach at Jianghan. I think I see some familiar faces in your photos of some other Hendrix College alumni. Your blog is brutally honest (which is exactly what I need, before the imagination makes Wuhan into something it's not), while optimistic ... often a difficult combination! Thanks for posting!
