Vietnam is truly a beautiful place. I may make fun of it sometimes for being a bit too dirty and I may make jokes about how they can fit 10 people on a motorbike, but there really are not many places in the world where you can see such beautiful mountains and waters together at the same time. While traveling to Hanoi this time around, my great-uncle took my family and their friends (total of 15 people) on a mini guided tour of one of the most interesting places that I have been to; Trang An - The lake of a thousand caves. Beihai was once among the ranks of legendary beaches in the world with its sparkling silver sand that was so loose you would sink a little into the beach every time you took a step. Stories have been told where the beach was once so clean that on a sunny day, the beach would be so bright from the reflecting sun rays that everyone would have to wear a pair of sunglasses just to be able to see. A crowd as legendary as New York City's Times Square would be sitting with umbrellas propped up in the sand and people would swim in the ocean that was so clean you could see the sand 50 feet down. The most important rule that I remind myself and others is that you do not bring your standards of food to other places. If you are not comfortable with sampling the variety of local cuisine, you're going to go hungry really fast. From March 22nd to the 29th, I was traveling around the Chinese province of Hunan with a tour group that were peoples of Chinese descent with citizenship in another country. It was part of a special tour group formed by the People's Republic of China to bring Chinese people back into China to tour around (and spend money) and to have a good time so we could go back and tell all of our friends what a fun time we had with the Government.
